I think you guys would just be better off waiting on an official announcement from PD instead of speculating and getting your hopes up based on something that was said in a video by someone not directly employed by PD, Kaz himself for example. (Even then, that's hard to take as fact. I'm talking more in lines of an update to their news page) The fact remains that nothing official, dates included, has been announced yet therefor one should not expect anything until such time. Just trying to save you all some disappoint when tomorrow rolls around and there is no update.

Detroit is 42 degrees North. However, the geomagnetic latitude is 52 degrees, due to the location of the magnetic north pole. My home town is 52 degrees North, but the geomagnetic latitude is 51 degrees.

If the predicted polar storm occurs (up at 80% now) and you can get away from city lights, yes. You'll need a Planetary K-Index of around 6 or 7 - which is pretty strong (normal is 0, 1-3 is quiet, 4-6 is moderate, 7-9 is severe) and something a CME from an X-ray flare is capable of generating. It's actually at 4 at the moment, probably due to the M-class flare on 9th.
You are awesome, I didnt hear about the M class flare, where did you hear about it?

Now would be the perfect time for that hilarious Kaz Meme. The one that goes something in the likes of "We will release an update in -insert month-. I'll mark it on my calendar!" And he marks the 31st

Yep; welcome to Gran Turismo. Land of "what-if's," "soon," "maybe's," uncertainty, broken promises and shattered hope. :dopey:
I didn't make any promises, I just reported that a magnetic storm could potentially delay an update if there will be an update...

if it's true what you say, they should at least let out some message about problems with sending 1.12 in the world

Well the next update is already out, if this is anything to go by:

Apparently the update is awaiting approval from all reigions of SCEI before it can be released. Nissan UK seemed to be a little too keen with the announcement..

the old submisson process. which means PD might have to wait for Sony say so now its out of PD hands when we get the update
Hopefully Sony will have the update prepared for upload on both sides of the Earth, so I can let it install. XD

So that could possibly mean that we have a repeat of the Senna Update (without the licensing issues) where PD will try to push the update out ASAP, so either late tonight (Japan Time, hopefully at the time of the 'double maintenance' or the BMW VGT update) or Monday next week. Great, all that hype and we have to wait another 3-4 days on top of the unofficial February release date.

Blindingly visible unofficial concept in that February release date. :P but didn't a Sony representative say February it "officially" though?

Ouch. Looks like a trigger happy social media department. Maybe the guy who used to write press releases for Mercedes Benz got fired and instead got a new position at Nissan UK?

I can't remeber, I completely forgot about Zahara until a few months ago.

Big media departments use scheduling software. They were told that it would be released today and so scheduled a tweet for it. PD changed their mind since then, as they are wont to do.

Anyone from GTP would have known that a release date from PD isn't worth the paper it's printed on, but you can hardly expect random Nissan PR guy to know that.

Relating to a Friday release of 1.12, here's a bit of info that was published today: http://www.motorlegend.com/actualite-automobile/la-nissan-gt-r-nismo-integre-gt6/10756.html

Not sure if mentions that it's supposed to be available today, but I found something interesting:
Cette Nissan GT-R Nismo sera disponible en téléchargement gratuit pour les joueurs ayant participé aux sélections de la GT Academy, et en contenu téléchargeable payant pour les autres.

In English: "This Nissan GT-R Nismo will be available as a free download for players who participated in the selection of GT Academy, and paid downloadable content for others."

Maybe I'm just behind on the news, but that's the first time I've heard of it being purchasable content. Obviously it's not an official Gran Turismo site, so apply grain of salt.

Edit: Got a better translation.

I think it means that it's purchasable with in game credits, not real money. Those who entered the academy will receive the car as a gift

I am French and I think they were wrong.

This car will be directly in the garage for players participated in the selections for GT Academy. But paying for others IN game.

Here's an article in English:

http://www.carscoops.com/2014/09/playstation-2015-nissan-gt-r-nismo-for.html

The GT-R NISMO that has a 592hp (600PS) 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine in real life is available as a paid Downloadable Content (DLC) or for free for anyone who entered the GT Academy 2014 competition.

Of course there's always the possibility that they misunderstood how it's being payed for and that it's with in game credits rather than real money, as @kevboi and @Zlork said.
