F1 car's cameras have been designed and tested for an optimal tv viewing experience. My guess the the mic is located somewhere beneath the body work and the volume is turned WAY down. Hence no wind noise.
As the first video title state: "OnBoard Helmet-Cam with Alonso in Ferrari F10 At Fiorano". The wind is not like GT5, period.

Yes, also the thing is this is a game, not real life. There isn't a camera on the car in game and there isn't any wind. There is no need to simulate the wind noise as if i was actually sat on the car or using a cheap camera that doesn't filter wind noise. It is just annoying, especially with no choice to turn it down.

Exactly. And if PD intend to simulate without compromise they should do like Kunos and NetKar Pro where the only camera allowed is dashboard view (with adjustable FOV). But they didn't and they pretend that wind to be "realistic", which is lame.

I missed the part where it said "The microphone is on the helmet too". You and I don't know for sure.

I mentioned that is was not ideal for gameplay, so I was not disagreeing with you. Some people are just making a bigger deal out of it than it needs to be. The wind doesn't bother me in the slightest, but that's just my opinion.

If GoPro cameras are cheap to you then I need your job

It's cheap compared to cameras they use in motorsport that I am used to seeing, yes. I understand amateur enthusiasts may use the cameras you mention and they may generate wind noise but those used in professional series certainly don't.

I don't think people are making too big a deal out of it. Did you watch the video I posted of the Formula GT at the ring? Over 150mph and it sounds awful, I can't put up with that lap after lap. It's the same on many, many cars from that view.

Am I the only human being on earth who misses the wind roar form gt4? Racing in gt4 was exhilarating as once you go over 130 wind overpowers everything making you feel like you're actually rushing down a race track at over 100 mph. Gt5 and Gt6 are stuck with the bland engine noises, which make drafting difficult. :(

👍 I used to have lots of similar videos up and the wind noise was always something I had to apologise for, it was terrible in the camera angle I preferred to use.

Btw I went racing in F2000 cars this month again, and even at top speed (about 120mph) with a strong crosswind I don't remember hearing howling wind noise like that (and I suspect the F1 cars have your head a lot lower in the cockpit so the wind deflection should be better to counteract their higher speeds). Mostly I remember feeling wind pressing against my helmet. You certainly don't cease hearing the engine over the harsh noise of what sounds like a jet engine or something.... that's the problem with how GT had it in a few versions. Like the effect of the draft, just way WAY too much.
