I think the poster is eluding to THE reasonably priced cars; the Kia C'eed or the Suzuki Liana. And more recently, the powerhouse that is the Vauxhall Astra 1.6.

I didn't realize we had to have the exact same car for it to be a "reasonably priced car". Really, won't any small four banger FF do?

So when some one was talking about Top Gear, do you think they were referring to any generic reasonably priced car? Or do you think maybe they were referring to the specific cars featured in the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment of the show?

Hell, the guy even capitalised Reasonably Priced, and you still missed it.

Is it that serious? The segment is about 'Stars', as in famous names, driving a cheap fwd vehicle. They didn't include that feature in GT5. Oh well, another missed opportunity. Maybe they learned from it, maybe not.

We didn't get a reasonably priced car in GT5? Have you played GT5? Half the cars in the game could qualify as "reasonably priced cars".

I don't have it in front of me, but I believe the time between someone reporting that Goodwood was being scanned and the announcement it was in the game was less than 3 months.

Found it...May 15 actually..

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/goodwood-circuit-and-hill-climb.282232/

He didn't say when they were there though, so we can't say the gap is three months. For all we know they could've been there last year and he only found out through his friend around the time he posted.

Goodwood is also not near the length and size of the average circuit, so of course it doesn't take as long to model anyway. I'm sure something like Tsukuba wouldn't have taken too long, but a full size race course surely still takes them a long time.

I consider myself a very casual fan of top gear, at best. (love cars, but cannot stand those awful, backwards-humor exhibiting hosts- even as I find most brits to be hilarious)

But when GT5 did not capitalize (is that even the right word to use?) on the license/opportunity I couldn't believe it. It goes without saying that the Reasonably Priced Car time attacks are a big deal and it would have been SO simple to include at least the most current one...

It's not like you can use the Test Track for proper road racing. LOL @Johnnyposto for dukin' that one up! :D

Lol...shoot me...I didn't realize that you couldn't just substitute any ill-handling 4 banger in there. It's not like it's a Ferrari or something...lol.

While it's not a terribly big deal to me, after seeing how well the TG license can be integrated in other games, yeah, I can certainly understand the disappointment some had. Now that I've watched the show, even more so - it'd be like getting a NASCAR license and only giving us the road-going Fusion.

A missed opportunity, yes - obviously so with TG off the list of tracks in GT6 - but tying that back to the original point last page, I'd actually argue having the Ascari Race Resort and Ascari cars aren't the same thing. Sure, it'd be great to have both (if only to have the E39 M5's V8 in the game already have that in the Z8!) but they're not exactly joined at the hip. Hell, I imagine the average player wouldn't even really know about either the track or the car! ;)

Where's the multi-quote function? Is it not needed anymore?

It would've been, and considering the massive, massive fanbase Top Gear enjoys, that really was a mis-step on PD's part. The S/F line not being in the right spot doesn't help either. Regardless of one's personal view of the show, I think most would agree that tying in even basic features with the show (a SIARPC event, and a Hot Lap board so you can compare with the Stig) definitely wouldn't have been a bad thing.

It's just like you can't substitute any old 300hp AWD vehicle for WRC, nor would it be as acceptable to replace any potential Senna events' rides with PD-chosen ones. For a game that prides itself on realism (with a tag-line that a lot of the fanbase simply eats up), having the exact model is exactly the pull. I want to know where I stack up against Mr. Bean in a Cee-apostrophe-Dee!

I meant is it serious to get hung up on the Reasonably Priced car discussion on the point of if the poster meant the actual Top Gear segment or if you can replicate it unofficially. I think it could have been a cool thing to have as part of the TG aspect in the game. But it shouldn't be a big deal getting hung up on the past. Hopefully Ascari is done more justice, if there are official Ascari events that could be replicated... TT's etc.

So 3 layouts on Ascari exist. Wonder how many we will get?

One would think all 3 and certainly hope for them all. This looks ballistic I don't think it should be too much of a stretch for PD

Hitting the reply button for two/multiple posts was what I've done before, but the extra info. is appreciated. Thanks.

It's always good to get a new track into the game, and Ascari should be good for driving. 👍
But I would have preferred a track that's good for racing.

FiA GT3 and BLANCPAIN Series race at Ascari. No?

Ascari is in first position an exclusive and private race track. And in second position, there are no tribunes for visitors, because of first position... ;-)

From the circuit alone, Ascari is a wonderful Racing-Track. But you will be convinced after test on GT6!!!

For a closer look, a really nice onboard...

Ive seen video of GT3 race cars at Ascari. Ive known of the circuit.

You might have but it's not a race track on any official racing series, as covered above it's a private resort for members only. Nobody races there.

An onboard sure, I've seen those before, but can you show me a video of cars racing for position at Ascari? Side-by-side? Overtaking?

Ascari isn't very wide and doesn't seem to have many areas where overtaking would be possible. There's no stands to provide a race day atmosphere and the pit lane is very small. Sixteen stalls is enough for GT6 grids (just), but might be too small for what grids could be on the next generation. I've yet to drive it, but it doesn't seem to me like a great racing course.

"Ascari is the longest track in Spain, and “one of the most spectacular in the world”.

"The full circuit is 5,425 meters long, with a consistent width of 12.2 meters
".

That's what, about 6-7 cars wide? Seems as wide or wider than Nurb or Mount Panorama and the tighter sections of Tsukuba, and plenty wide enough for racing.

Most road cars are under 2 meters wide. So its possible 6 cars could fit beside eachother. Race cars like GT3's are a bit wider, about 2.1 meters, so you may only be able to go 5-wide in your races

The only concern for me is those bottleneck chicanes

Indeed, there are two chicanes that will cause problems though. A bit like the chicane at Rome Circuit, but with less room.

So don't go five wide into the chicane? You can probably get through either of them two wide if the drivers are giving each other room, although it's slower. Which is sort of how chicanes work. It's not like going 3 or 4 wide into a chicane a Monza ends happily ever.

What Imari said.👍 The good thing about Ascari is there are no concrete curbs, guardrails or barriers of any kind around the chicanes, so it's not a catastrophe if you try and go two wide through there. Shortcut penalty maybe...:grumpy:...but that's racing.

Heres hoping with all these real circuits and the new physics, etc. People will watchvideos of these tracks and learn to give space when racing. Follow the proper racing line. Enjoy the track. Have fun in the car chosen. Its not sad but, silly thinking about the future mayhem. However, I agree 100 percent.

I believe GT3 cars are all under 2m in width.

Online race / club / league builder tools... :D

I'm assuming that at least the essential functionality of this will be in the box at launch or in the day one download. So instead of waiting for friends to host or be available for races, it should be easier to locate types of races, as well as more professionally minded racers. I'm hoping that there are a whole hundred thousand or so people like me who set up casual races or clubs for convenience racing, as I'm one of those grownups who just don't have anything like a regular schedule, even on weekends.

One thing I've been meaning to mention is that the Ascari launch party likely means that this will either be the first Gran Turismo in history to be released on schedule, or very close to it as with GT5.
