Perfect Pedal Mod: A Review...

I order the stand alone pedal, because I want to have a spare once the Perfect pedal have problem. It's quite expansive ,but worth it. but now,I replace the original brake pedal to the clutch pedal, feel so good~

Well i think im gonna get the pedal :nervous: Just curious about the tuning kit. Anyone heard any more about it? Tried the email link on the site but it doesnt work.
This is the answer I got to an email I wrote.

The pedal comes filled to a mid level. Available separately there is an adjustment kit for $20. The adjustment kit includes an Allen key to open the fill hole as well as a syringe to add or remove fluid. The syringe is filled with enough fluid to go to "full hard" and enough capacity to drain pedal to "full soft". Hope this answers your questions.

I would try it first to see how you like it, before messing with the pedal. I love it just the way it is. When I first tried it I thought it was way too hard. Now that I have been using it on a regular basis I woudn't want to have it any other way.

That's how I felt about it Grayfox. Took a little while to get used to but now I wouldn't change the feel of it at all. It seems just the right balance to me. To anyone thinking of ordering the adjustment kit, I would have to echo Grayfox and say to try the standard pedal before spending the extra on the kit. After all, it's not a cheap mod to begin with.

If anyone does get the kit after using the pedal in standard form first, I'd be interested in opinions on the differences.

No thought id try it first 💡 G:idea: Gotta say its a bit stiff but after i quit stabbing at the brakes i got alot better. Trying to get the right brake sensitivity in SU2 right now.

Yeah the extra stiffness certainly takes some adjusting too. I'll be interested on hearing your thoughts on the new pedal once you've had a good play with it.

Did you switch any of the other springs around whilst you had the pedals apart? I found that using the old brake spring in the clutch and the clutch spring in the gas pedal really improved the feel of the pedals considerably.

No i didnt switch springs around, my leg gets tired enough with the spring in the clutch. After about 4 hrs. racing with this i gotta say you guys where spot on with your reviews. I love this thing. I was kinda skeptical about 2 sec. a lap (thought maybe guys where trying to justify the price) but i have gained more than that on a couple of tracks (SU2) just from smoother entries in the corner. For myself any way it was well worth the price. Thanks again for your help. Oh and the service from them is top notch very prompt and nice. 5 min for one email LOL thats service.

Ouch thats costly. I will say it is a very good pedal. Takes about 20 or so laps to get the hang of but then its great. About pedal travel i can see now why people say there is not any it dosent feel like it moves but a centimeter. But it goes a little past half way. Had to get down on floor and watch while son pushed it LOL.

I'm not a left foot "braker", sometime when I try left foot braking,
the feeling is totally different with right foot, exactly like haven't any move of it.
It was because my left foot not sensitive as my right foot.
Before I change to perfect pedal , i already drive with ABS-0,
so my right foot always brake as lightly as I can, so after I change to P.P.
I already get used to it.:dopey:
It's really a PERFECT pedal~

P.S. the feeling much much better after reverse mounted.

So it's not just me who's noticed the quicker lap times then. I felt the same as you with the new pedal; the extra pressure and feel from the perfect pedal helps you brake a lot smoother and more consistently, leading to better lap times.

Did you have any problems with fitting? I felt that the online manual could've done with a few extra photos to aid installation, specifically the part where you have to stick the PBC to the pedal.

Yeah i had a little trouble but for the most part went smooth. I think they changed the design a little since the pics where taken. I did have to pry the board off and put new tape on. Couldnt get the shoulder pin through the hole. Oh and ive had my pedals reverse mounted for months now.👍

Yes, it may be but it's still a piece of toy in my opinion and a very expensieve one, if I may add. That's why I'm probably going for the APelectrix if I decide to upgrade the brake pedal. There are cheap DIY solution for making a hydraulic brake pedal with the APelectronix's PCB and force sensor.

There should also be an APelectrix review thread *hint*.

Yeah its not cheap. Speaking of apelectric Andy emailed me today. He said that he is ready to ship so maybe you could check him out. 👍

So he is still making them then? I'd emailed a couple of times and didn't get any kind of reply as to when they would be back in production. Might be worth checking out for people on a tighter budget. It may not be as good as the Perfect Pedal, but I'm sure it'd still be better than the standard pedal.

I got an email from Andy and he's still in business. He has about 500 orders in to process.

I'd prefer the Perfect Pedal but it's too expensive to import it to Belgium.

It's $299 (shipping to Europe included) + 33%. Not worth it, just too much money for a pedal.

Not sure how it works but if it is a gift sent to you would there be no vat?
Nope, not anymore. The customs knows these tricks.

As far as I know, Perfect Pedal has to put on a label what's inside the package e.g computer peripheral. And I think that it has to be "officially" send because Perfect Pedal is a company and their "bookkeeping" has to check out.

If it was send as a private person or a second hand perfect pedal, I wouldn't have to pay VAT, customs, etc ... .

stega ( gtplanet member) was willing to sell me his perfect pedal but he never, besides one time, answers the PM's I wrote to him.

There is ofcourse a possibility that I don't have to pay any customs or VAT.
Customs don't check every parcel coming from outside Belgium. If I should order the perfect pedal and my parcel is one of the parcel that "slips" the controle of the customs, than I don't have to pay the additional cost of 33%. It's 21% VAT, customs, adminitration costs, etc... . That's the 33%.

I have been thinking. The APelectris is $75 + $12.95. Which is also a lot of money for a simple device like that. I have read many time on the internet that the APelectrix has reliability problems. The load sensor, which is the Flexiforce A201, wears out after being pushed on by the rubber thing. It looses precision after a while. This flexible load sensor can be replace but also costs €20 a piece. without shipment. No customs though because it's available in Europe. If I want to create my own DIY hydraulic brake system with the load sensor and PCB from the APelectrix, I still have to pay for the master cylinder and a brake caliper and other stuff to get it working. And I will still be using the APelectrix-easy-to-brake load sensor. It will probably almost as expensive as the perfect pedal, which is by all means a perfect pedal. :P

If I should buy a brake mod, I probably should go with the perfect pedal. The perfect pedal and 33% is almost half of my monthly income.:ouch:
That's why I'm making so much fuss about it. So is it worth paying so much money for a toy? Well, I will eventually come up with an anwer. I alsways do! :)

Not many companies will agree to that. That's seen as tax evasion and the taxman won't like that! :( Heavy fines for those involved.

Private sellers are more likely to agree to it but not registered companies.

Well thats what i was getting at if you know anyone in the US that you trust. Maybe they could buy it and just mail you a gift.

If it is a private person and not a company, I'd not have to pay the extra costs.

It certainly is an expensive 'toy'. If I'd have known the customs charges were going to be as much as they were (£53), I think maybe I might have given buying the Perfect Pedal a lot more thought. It's extortionate how much it costs to get things through customs. But I'm glad I did buy it in the end as it has made loads of difference to the feel of the brake pedal.

You've just gotta weigh up whether the price is too much to fork out for, for just one pedal. It sounds like you're seriously considering getting one though. Another cheaper option you might consider is the new spring kit from Nixim.

I had no idea about the reliability problems with the APElectrix load cell brake. What put me off that option was the lack of communication from the guy who makes them. Dealing with the makers of the Perfect Pedal was second to none right the way through the whole purchase.

Yeah the more i use it the more i like it. Do any of you with this play shift 2? What do you have brake sensitivity set at? I have had it all over the place but know im back at 50. Playing online i gotta find new lines in the corners because i can enter and exit so much faster. 👍

This is what I found. Because I can control the amount of braking more precisely, I'm able to carry a bit extra corner speed. That's what has taken the most getting used to for me. Like you say; the more I use this pedal, the more I like it.

I'm guessing you're not going to bother with the adjusting kit for it then now you're used to it?

Im still up in the air about that. If i knew for sure it would be $20 instead of $35 id get it just to check it out. My email reply was about the same but no price.

You just made me want one :D but i can't afford one right now, so i'll wait to get the money i need, and a more sturdy support base than the floor.

Now a suggestion, i saw you refer something to add or remove oil to make the pedal more soft/strong, i own a RC model car, and i use a oil for the car suspension that acts the same way( i believe) as the oil inside the PP cylinder so maybe you can use it to make it more at "your taste".
