Permanent Borrow Glitch Trading Thread

I believe I have figured out a way to do more than one car with the borrow glitch at once. Stay tuned for results.
This sounds like good news, I may put my GT5 disk back in again and get a couple of hybrid X1's on a sub account.

I hope so, it just took me 2 hours to do my first borrow.
I will wait until you report back with your findings, until I do another.

Multiple Perma-borrow glitch. YOU MUST HAVE 2 ACCOUNTS FOR THIS OR A TRUSTED FRIEND. DOES NOT APPLY TO UNTRADEABLE CARS.

1. First, borrow a friends car. Save your data utility to a USB device.
2. Go back into GT5, borrow a different car, keep this save on the ps3.
3. Delete patches, start up the game, and let it get to 2/21. Exit the game and go back into the game and this time select "no" for downloading patches.
4. At the main menu (not GT Mode, before that) save your game, exit out of the game. (Don't do this next part on step 6.) Make another user for your playstation. Go to data utility on your main user and copy it to the other user.
5. On your main account, delete the saved data you had before and copy the saved data from your USB device onto your ps3.
6. Repeat step 4. Now download the rest of the patches.
7. After finishing downloading enter the game and switch to a different car in your garage. Send the car you just did the glitch for to another account, exit the game.
8. Delete your save utility and copy the saved utility from your USB device to your PS3.
9. Go to the account you sent the other car to and send it back to your main account. ALL DONE!

Pros of this glitch:
1. Multiple cars at once.
Cons of this glitch:
1. Caps apply.
2. Untradable cars cannot be traded from account to account.
3. A little more confusing.

EDIT: Also figured out how to make downloading patches go faster. After each patch installs., back out of the game and go back in and keep downloading them. This cut my download time by 4x.

Ok that's not too bad.
Personally I'll stick with/and prefer 2/3 consoles and ps3 proxy for the win :sly:👍

I don't have a problem either with doing it one at a time it takes me about 30 mins to do all the patches.

30 MINS FOR ALL PATCHES!? Now I feel slow ha.
That's a neat way I just might try miko1337 too bad I'm on 1.05 already.
Also, I caused my cars that are painted with a DLC color, to become pitch black. I'll make a thread and post pictures of it soon.

Comcast plus porting plus many unsaid other things I have done to the programing of my modem and router to deliver fast speed.

I just wish I lived in Kansas City. Google glass fiber 1000MBPS download and upload. I about crapped myself when I heard about it.

I've been to KC before its meh.
But 1000MBPS, it could be a desert with no plumbing and I'd still go there.

Every time I delete the game utility data and I go back to the I can't move the curser therefore I can't switch cars , someone help

Do it the easy way and don't worry about wall papers and stuff.

1. Change into shared car, save game and exit.
2. Delete GAME data, it takes 5 or so minutes
3. Load GT5, download and install update 1/20 (608MB) Cancel when you see 2/20 start to download. At this point the game is at 1.05
4. Reload GT5, skip updates
5. Don't go past main screen. Don't go into GTMENU (far left option), but instead all you need to do is go to the SAVE option...second from the right side, beside the DLC option. At no point do you have to ever go into GTLIFE/Garage and change cars. Don't try to do that.
6. Select to Save, then exit, start up GT5 again and install all updates.
7. Done

Always have a backup of your game save!

Do this and avoid the issues.

If someone were to have the #20 joey Logano Gamestop Car on share, could it be borrow glitched and would it stay in my garage?

Ha.. I just ripped another from a ticket yesterday! But I'm pretty sure the answer is no, it can't be borrowed, so you would never be able to get in..

Anyone know 100% for sure?

You can get those from tickets?

You can get those from tickets?

Yes..But you only get to keep them if you already have the codes in your system. Since I bought the Game stop pre-order and already have the car, if they pop from tickets I get another car.

At least that's my understanding. I could be wrong though, I'm not 100% sure honestly?

No, that's correct.

If you get the GameStop NASCAR from a ticket without already having the car or the code on the system, the car will disappear when you exit the game.

Of course, you could just never exit the game... :sly:

Schewter made a really excellent application that takes the entire update process out of the equation, so no more waiting to do the glitch :)

Erm, I hope my friend doesn't get mad, because I accidentally took his F10! :eek:
What I did was simply delete game data to version 1.0 and I owned the car, I was only trying to reinstall the game
What this does:
This glitch allows you to permanently "borrow a persons car and own it.
How to do this:
1. First, borrow a friends car. Delete GT5 game data, it's the first folder in the Game tab in the XMB
2. Start GT5, refuse to download the patches
3. You should own the borrowed car BUT select a different car in your garage
4. Install patches and enjoy!
Pros of this glitch:
1. The original owner keeps the car and you get a copy of it
2. There's no types of trade caps
Cons of this glitch:
1. Time consuming
2. DELETING GAME DATA does not REMOVE ANY DLC
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This works with ANY car
FAQ:
Q. Does removing the game data affect game progress?
A. No
Q. What does the game data contain?
A. Certain DLC's, tracks, patches, cars, pretty much the entire game except your save data
Q. Does this work with DLC?
A. No, DLC cannot be borrowed
Q. How much time can this take?
A. The final update process can take anywhere from 30-60 minutes, in total about 1 hour per car
The average delete time for game data is about 5 minutes
**UPDATE**As of the 24th of August 2012, the total patch download time may take up to 3-5 hours depending on your internet connection. The use of this glitch is no longer recommended unless you REALLY WANT a car.
Q. How many times can I do this?
A. As much as you want until your fingers hurt
Q. Can you borrow more then one car at once?
A. No, you can only borrow one car at a time
Q. Should I re install the game afterwards?
A. No, it just adds more time if you want to glitch again
Q. Will I lose my data?
A. Back it up first
You will NOT lose your pictures and replays if you do this...
Go to your replays and pictures in the game.
Press TRIANGLE on each one. [Pictures you can do all at once, not sure about replays.]
Then press 'Export to Save Data' or 'Export to 'Export to XMB Photo Menu'
Then your replays and pictures are their own file on your PS3.
You can leave them there or back them up.
After you are done with this glitch, when you go back into the photo and replay section, there is something in there that you press and it will bring your stuff back into the game.
Thanks to teecro for the following guide-
Best of all, it's free! No fees at all.
so when you delete the game data and you go back to the game you wont lose anything right?
