Cool theme 👍 I think I know what car I'd like to use but I may explore little bit more for the choice or car.

No offence but like this is second time you've asked me and I have answered u before... :dunce:

If you read the entry rulez you will see the following...

Now I hope this explains your question.

I am not sure if there is black type-R
but if you are partially adjust brightness and contrast
then it is not what you can do in this competition

There is a black ITR, you can buy it from the Honda showroom.

As for brightness and contrast; I've been experimenting with both setting in PS, and you can create some nice effects with just those two options. It all depends on how you interpret the rules. I'd assume that when it said 'brightness and contrast', you were only allowed to make adjustments that 'normalised' the picture. If you use extreme brighness and contrast though, you can create something quite different, and IMO artistic, and possibly beyond the rules of this competition. Its up to the arsenal to clarify this point.

Here is an example. The first pic has +50 brightness, and +50 contrast. The second pic has +75 brightness, and +100 contrast.

Both pics have only the brightness and contrast adjusted, so are they both legal?

Sup Franz, at first I straggled to understand your comment but after reading it few times, I presume you mean adjusting the certain part of the image seprately for Brightness & Contrast is outside of this rules? (ie like the one I did in Orange theme comp where I darkend one part of pic) If this is outside of the rules I don't see it metioned in the "Competition entry rules".... If it is mentioned please be kind to outline it for me as I must be blind. :)

If anyone feels that Brightness & Contrast shoudn't be adjusted seperately in the photo perhaps the rules be revised or defined in details about condition of use of this tool as I am more than happy to comply with the entry restriction.

As for my submition for this comp, I had turned the contrast all the way up (if i remember correctly..) in GT4 than some overall Brightness & Contrast adjustment was done after.
BTW as magburner had pointed out you can just buy BLK Integra from Honda showroom.

Below is the original photo so feel free to adjust the brightness & contrast to achieve the exact effect as my final pic.

Cheers!

Well said, is best if the rules would somehow appeal more to the readers, i guess you cant make anymore obvious, but if it said we could seperately make brightness and contrast changes to more than one item in the pic, then i guess it can just expand a bit. 💡

I always thought you only could adjust brightness&contrast of the whole image and not separate parts of it. And that´s the way it should be IMO, rules don´t mention this though.

Well I have mainly being adjusting the overall pics brightness and contrast as whole and rarely had the need to do it seperately but on occations of my previous pics (dark ones) I realized some parts of the image could do with extra darkening so I took advantage of this tool and had selected a particular part to darken the contrast...

In the early days of when I joint this forum, I had asked with my submition of porsche pic if it was ok to select a particular part of image but no one really commented about it but now it seems that people are voicing their "opinions".... Well at least we can talk about it now.

The rule clearly says you are only allowed to adjust the brightness and contrast and so forth and perhaps I might of got little too creative from this allowed tool but if people are not comfortable of how its used, let this be the time to review and perhaps mention it in the condition of usage for this tool if this is not allowed. Like I said, I'm only too happy to follow the condition of comp.

To clear up some confusion:

I believe that acording to the rules using brightness and contrast on certain areas of the picture only is legal, since the rules just vaguely state that brightness and contrast tools may be used to alter the photo, which pretty much leaves it open for you to use these tools however you want. On the other hand, I believe that in some cases these tools can be used to change the subject matter of the photo by altering paint schemes and blacking out certain areas, etc. As far as magburner's question goes, high levels of contrast like that are legal, and I have used them before in this competition. Now that it has come under question, though, I think that the rules should be changed so that if brightness and contrast are used it should be uniform over the whole picture so that the subject matter isn't altered in an unfair matter. Before I make any rule changes I would like to hear some more feedback from everyone.

Thanks for your input:tup:

Thanks for your reply Arsenal.

IMO, I really don’t mind if there is a restriction of use for brightness&contrast tool set in place but as for some of my previous pics, I had used it in a way which allowed me to control some of the distracting background (darkening) in order to bring attention to the main subject “the car”. Although, this could be reversed and manual adjustment could be applied to the car, I have only ever used it on the background.
Whether this alteration applied to the main subject or the surrounding environment would make things any different is another issue but I’m happy to go with the flow of majority of members.

Cheers.
