On my nice (being nice) dell monitor it has a dirtyish yellowish brown kind of color going on. I didn't know if it was my screen or what lol.

It's not your monitor, I can see it too :scared: Suz, the wheels are too dark near the wheel wells, i'm not too sure whether it's meant to be like that or not.

I don't see either. :odd: And I have a laptop outputting to a dell monitor.

Stare at the monitor for 5 minutes, then you will see it.... ;)
The new update does look better, but whats up with those F1 wheels? Looks really weird on a road car..... :indiff:

I kind of like the wheels, kind of says it sees track time not show time. Something different besides the same ol' "tuner" type.

I see the yellow box but only if I tilt my screen. I don't think it's yellow though, I think it's just desaturated and looks yellow because the rest of the car has a bluish tint.

As long as it wasn't my screen im happy! I wasn't trying to make a massive topic on it or trying to point out flaws in your work suzq. One of the main things i always forget to do is when i lower a car i most of the time forget to crop the image! haha. So at the top it looks pretty funky, and then i notice it and go oh crap i forgot to crop it again. I think im fixing to start my first car chop in prob 7 months :) I just have about 2 hours of pictures to finish for the last wedding i shot and then my pc is free to do what she wants. I want to do something different though, not the same ol' import or whatever. Want to do some older japanese classic like a RX-3 or like a 1971 Toyota Celica, the 71 celica is freaking sweet if you like the older styles. It kind of has a 1st gen F body look to it. Tough thing is finding a decent picture of one that hasn't been race prepped so i can have a good base to start from.

I can find one for you, its not difficult if you know where to look. Again, it is just desaturated [black&white] so you shouldn't see yellow at all. Which is what makes me think you guys need to fix your monitors. lol -- either way the post is fixed now!

If you could share the places where you find pictures that would be great! I just use google image and hope i can find something that isn't the size of a cell phone picture. I couldn't find a good pic of the celica but i found a decent one of a volvo wagon that i am working on right now. I only got to work on it for about 20 minutes, i have to do some things and then later tonight i am going to finish it up.

ultimatecarpage.com - join there & check out Matts high-res hide-out forum. Basically high-res images of just about every car, truck, and some jets. lol

Dude, theres a thread in the Digital Art Help for wallpapers,

Hope it helps you out 👍 And cool to see you joined the Premo club :P

Here is my CRV, not sure whether I should convert trim into CF or not, since it dosen't look complete.

After I uploaded it, quality of the colour and sharpness is gone :(

Well here's the volvo i was speaking of, my first touch of a car in PS in so long. I still don't think the carbon looks right, i need to work on a new method for that:indiff:
Heres the link to the orig if you want to see that http://www.aplusquality.com/VehiclePhotos/11605/1.JPG

The carbon overall isn't bad at all, and it even appears that you soft-erased some parts to make it look better.
If you haven't you should. If you have, erase a bit more.
Because the CF pattern is never visible throughout the entire hood, especially at that angle. Usually, only the parts that are facing you the most should be the most visible. then fade away as the angle 'squeezes'.
Could also need a touch on levels to make the highlights stand out more to appear glossy..

Wheels aren't bad at all, but seem a bit low-res compared to the rest of the car. Plus, the rear tire is giving away the paste due to that brighter streak on the left of it, mostly.

The bumper looks pretty good (apart the blurred Volvo stickers), but it really needs some more shadowing underneath to me it look like it really belongs there.

Removal of the headlight wipers is not perfect, but you have to look at the original to see there's something 'strange' there. Otherwise, it goes unnoticed. 👍

There was for sure some strange glares and such going on in the original with the wipers. You hit the rims good because the image i got them from wasn't the worlds most high res image, but i liked them and couldn't find any other ones that i wanted. I didn't want to use some that i didn't like as much just because they had a higher res. I completely forgot about shadowing under the front, there actually wasn't any in the stock picture either though. And the volvo stickers i actually blurred them myself, don't know why but i thought they looked kind of cool blurred....lol. Its been so long since ive done this in PS, oh and also i did try to erase, dodge and burn the carbon overlay a bit. I just stopped because i just thought i was screwing it up too much. Thats really the first time ive tried to do carbon so i really need to mess around with it and find a better way to do it. Mainly i need to find a really good source pic for it.

CF patterns made in Photoshop, if they're good ones, result in a very realistic way when properly applied.
Problem is, on most real pics of CF hoods (or anything else), there are some visual effects that I simply don't know how to put on the image.

Lately, I've been trying with this image:

step7fu4.jpg

I apply the normal CF, then slap this on with a very low opacity.
On a few images, it works like a charm, and the entire CF comes to life. On the vast majority, it looks like crap and I end up getting rid of it...

Still, I prefer to whenever possible apply a real CF pattern rather than PS-made CF.
Problem is, I can't find a big enough picture of a clean CF hood/sheet/whatever that fits medium/large images for working with them.

The size is the problem i have. If its too small then its stretches it until it just looks horrible. Ive been trying to find a nice picture of real CF. I wish my friend paul still had his civic, i would take a picture of his hood. And with my D80 it should be plenty high res enough to use for whatever.

This bit out of context really made me laugh.

Now, fear no more, as I have found a site with a whole bunch of cool stuff, including various CF textures for various types of applications.
Most of them are tileable, so size won't ever be a problem again.

Check it out:

CF isn't hard

do this:

make a new document, 4x1 pixel, transparent bg
on the first pixel pencil it with a solid black
on the second, use a grey that is at 10-20 in brightness.
leave the rest transparent, edit>Define Pattern, name it CF or w/e and your done.

on your photo, on new layer, edit>fill, pattern, your CF pattern, fill it.

Transform the CF in appriopiate manners to the surface

either pen or lasso, make a selection around the part, on your marquee tool, right click the canvas and invers selection, press Del on your keyboard and the rest is trimmed off :) Alternatively after making your selection, Select> Inverse Selection.

I got bored so I decided to finally finish this chop. I hope it looks good on your screen because I cant change the brightness on mine.

Changed rims
Color change
Extended rear wheel arch
Rear wing removed

breakpoint: Nice try on the chop. the carbon hood is very nicely done. 👍

Diablo': Not much of a chop or so to say, but it looks fantastic! I love to look of the car.....

Ok, they are definatly in this thread, Just 200+ pages and i am NOT wasting 100 years of my life looking through them...

Anyone got a tut on how to learn how to do this? GOOD... (not just +layer magic wand car part, fill new color on new layer and set to overlay) lmfao
