''does the precision of steering wheels mean that those who use steering wheels have to upload more data (i.e. more precise data) than a DS3 user?''

Probably just x and y coordinates with speed data sent, nothing to do wth input device.

Updated physics are much better online, been playing online all day. Hard to say if this problem is affected by improved physics.

When you select room quality, that has a large bearing on the physics that you experience within the race.

You need a lot of bandwidth to successfully run a high quality room and the physics you experience should be more realistic and sim-like than those in single player.

I encountered this issue some time ago when I was participating in online tuning races. I would tune my cars up to the limit with plenty of laps practice offline, get a good knowledge of the car and circuit. Once I took the car online it was a completely different story in terms of handling, it was no longer possible to get the same lap times with the same car and literally nothing had changed other than going online.

I'm very surprised no one has yet tested this in detail. Comparing offline to all three variations of the online race quality, as well as full server, empty server and half full server. I'd love to see the results, I think even allowing for driver error you'd see things are clearly changing based on these factors.
