Playing on PS4 with a Logitech Driving Force GT & G27 with FFB

Here's the best I could do with my old iPhone

I don't know why the quality turned out rubbish, it looked good playing it in VLC, but at least you can see both wheels in sync. In game wheel options are set at 900°, 100% FFB and high vibration. The adapter is legit!

I can't tell any difference in input precision between DC+G27 and GT6+G27, it's perfect to me.

The parts cost about A$17 - its not going to break the bank, my titan one cost a lot more than that. The software is free. If it works its a win-win for anyone with a ps4 and a DFGT or G27.

I'm waiting for parts to arrive from China to give another opinion.

A couple of tips if youre building the teensy with pins version.

If you run into a problem after connecting everything up: try switch the wires on the tx and rx pins around on the usb.

The other problem I had was the connection would drop out every now & then which I attributed to the connectors on my wires not making a solid connection with the pins on the teensy board. Once I replaced those wires with a better fitting set I was was homefree with no disruptions to the ffb driving on my project cars + g27/ps4 combo

Just got my parts and tried it out - Whistle snap is right. Tried it on Project Cars and a Driving Force GT and the FFB is stronger than GT6 - this game was made for a steering wheel, the DS4 just doesn't feel right on it. Best $17 I ever spent.

Had a bit of difficulty loading the G29 firmware onto the Leonardo with Adruino.exe. Used the avrdude.exe in the bin directory and it loaded ok. I wasn't expecting too much after being disappointed with the titan one but this it the real deal - thank you gimx guys.

Going to try out driveclub now. Looking forward to GT7 on a DFGT....

<sarcasm mode on>Thanks Logitech</sarcasm mode off>

Here are the parts I used if anyone is interested:

I know I've already asked this, but can someone please test this with a Fanatec wheel? In PS3 mode the Fanatec wheels essentially emulate a G27, so in theory if this set up makes a G27 work by emulating the G29, surely a Fanatec wheel in PS3 mode will work.

Fanatec wheel emulating a G27 emulating a G29, it sounds like the biggest up yours to Logtech ever, which is another reason I hope it works haha.

If someone can make a cheap usb adapter to sell i would buy one in a second as logitech are the only reason i haven't bought a ps4. Not at all sure how to do this myself, surely someone can knock up a box to sell.

Nice, even though someone says there they couldn't get their CSR to work (same wheel I have), the response suggests it should work if the software is set up right.

I'll be getting this set up soon to try it out. I have a DFGT which will work either way, but I'd way prefer to use my CSR and CSPs than the dodgy old DFGT lol.

I can make a cool carbon fiber box to house everything, but I'd need help with all the goodies inside.

Just bought project cars and cant wait to try this out. Kudos to Gimx guys, was planning to save some money to buy g29. In your face logitech for screwing your customers

Yeah, screw you Logitech, for making wheels that were supported for damn near 2 whole console generations, and still work on PC. How dare you have the PS4 use a different FFB protocol than you'd always used, even tho you had ZERO say in it!!

Seriously? It's a piece of mechanical hardware that takes input from a console or PC. I'm pretty sure a software/firmware/driver update could have probably made the wheels play nice with the ps4. Their lack of customer support and communication sucked. So did Sony's for that matter. No solutions just finger pointing.

I'm testing with a Raspberry Pi 2 right now, I'll upload a video while play to Driveclub. It's work, but somtimes I getting random disconnections. This is normal, because the Raspberry compatibility still is experimental.
How goes the testing with the Pi, i want to go this route so I don't have to take my laptop with me each time I go on, plus the Pi is tiny and takes up no room.
Tks

Parts are on the way, going to use a Pi. Will let you know how it works, hardware will be a piece of cake, it's the software that usually requires some messing around but I'm optimistic!
Let us know how it works. Also let me know the dimensions of what it would take to make a box to house the hardware. Thanks

Very excited for this, thanks for the hard work.

I am not very savvy to build my own, but would pay for a solution that works.

Would have been happier with some Logitech support but that possibility is long passed.

Good to see progress.

Two whole console generations? No, the G27 came out in 2010, so it was supported for half of one console generation. The PS4 doesn't use a "different ffb protocol" than anything else, otherwise other legacy wheels wouldn't work either, and in case you didn't know, the G29 uses the same FFB as the G25/27, the only difference is it has hardware that allows it to be recognised by the console like a DS4 is, to work in all menus.

Sony haven't stopped any company from providing drivers to devs for their peripherals to work in games, and both Thrustmaster and Fanatec have provided drivers to multiple devs to support their wheels. All of this is common knowledge, so I don't know how you think Logitech had no say in whether their wheels would be supported or not lol.

Logitech have done this to try and swindle their customers out of more money, and it's hilarious how many people are buying their new wheel, as it's just a G27 with a new rim on it that has the DFGT buttons on it. That's the reason they're not supporting the 25 and 27, because, unlike their competition, they haven't advanced their wheels in a decade, so the latest one offers nothing new for the inflated price. Both Thrustmaster and Fanatec support their old wheels on the current consoles, but also sell fully compatible new wheels for people wanting to upgrade, that are genuinely better than their legacy wheels.

But hey, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story ;)

Hahaha. I won't.

First, the G27 isn't even a PlayStation wheel. It's a PC wheel. Worked on PlayStation tho. Pretty nice, huh?

Oh, and the GT Force for GT3 (Early PS2, 2001/2002) as well as the Driving Force for PS2, and Driving Force Pro were ALL still supported in GT6, a LATE PS3 release... alongside the DFGT, the T500RS... and oh yeah, the UNLICENSED G25 and G27. So that's... damn near two whole generations! Wow.

What's the problem man? Why can't people see that Sony and Logitech NEED to make money too, or they can't bring us the games and accessories we want?? I mean, I hate replacing gear as much as the next guy, but when you change consoles, you usually need new accessories (unless they're Logitech wheels, amirite guys??)

Do I think the "G29" is a good deal? Hell no. But I understand WHY they had to do it. And I am sure that if Logitech didn't have to make a "new" wheel they would happily just still be selling G27s and laughing all the way to the bank paying no licensing fees.

Thrustmaster paid for a new license BTW, and no one has promised T500 owners (and I am one) universal compatibility.

Fanatec snuck in the back door on TWO games, PCARS and F1 2015, so far anyways. Not exactly full compatibility. BTW, I also have a Fanatec CSR Elite wheel too, so I'd SURE like to see it work on PS4.

So as you might see, I don't think it's fair to vilify Logitech for giving us WAY more support than practically any other company has. You don't like it, hey, good for you. Build an adapter, use your G27, I don't even blame you. Just, you know, don't be a dick about it.

Anyways, I've said my bit, and you've all said yours. Haters gonna hate, right, one way or another.

I wouldn't see them make that much money considering the small amount of people buying it. I'm not paying $1000 NZD for a wheel that is hardly different from a wheel made in 2010 - which is also considered to have a worse deadzone than the model preceding it.

I would, however, buy something that would make my wheel work. Multitudes of people buying $100 dongles/software patches/updates to a wheel that would probably cost them something like $20 to make would surely bring in more revenue from $1000 wheels that... not many really can buy.
