No, but if they don't show anything they're relying on word of mouth and the customer's historical experience with Gran Turismo to encourage them to pre-order.

If they don't want anyone to pre-order, then by all means show nothing and let the chips fall where they may when the initial reviews and customer feedback rolls in.

No but on the contrary they don't have to show very little either. It's kinda the basics of promoting a game, show it off and keep people interested. We're talking about a racing game here, it's not like there is any story or lore to spoil.

I do not think they are worried about pre-order or game not getting attention. They usually do thing their way. I too personally would like to see more new videos and trailers so hopefully they will have more to show before release. However I do not think that will have any affect on the release date.

Polyphony may not be, but Sony should be. As much as I hate pre-order culture and wish that it would all go away, it's hard to deny that it's in the interest of the game and the developer to sell as many copies as early as possible. I mean, if anything goes wrong with the game release then they want as many sales locked in as possible. If they do have to end up delaying features or anything else, then it's in their interest to have as many pre-orders and as much hype as possible to counteract that.

See No Man's Sky. The game was pretty broken at release, and missing a lot of things that might have been expected given the pre-release advertising. It still sold like hot cakes because of hype and pre-orders.
