How often do you lie?

I'd like to answer "never" but I suspect "rarely" might be more correct. At least I can't recall the last time I deliberately made a misrepresentation. I'll generally answer "how are you" type questions with something like "I've been better, I've been worse". I'll generally try to change the subject if I'm pressed on something I don't want to divulge.

Everything I say is a lie.
A liar telling lies to liars in a post about lies.

Yes, in fact my whole existence on this site is a lie, my real name is Sir Richard Branson and I want to service you.

:P

Really though I really only lie at work, mainly making it seem like I care.

I have a very sneaky way of twisting my lies to fit something that is at least partly true. That way I can lie and not feel bad about it. I'm usually terrible at lieing though, especially when people put me on the spot, i'm not great at thinking on my feet.

It's part of my job, sadly.

The problem is if you're told to lie as part of your job and you're caught out people immediately assume you're to blame.

I had an estate agent tell me on the phone they were 'sending someone out of the office now' when I rang ahead of a flat viewing. When they were 10 minutes late and I rang back they realised that the booking wasn't entered into the system, so they lied about that and they lied about sending someone out, despite confirming my name, the address of the viewing etc. I never dealt with them again. I know it likely wasn't the person's fault, they're trained to say things like this to appease customers.

It's similar to taxi office operators saying 'they're just pulling into your road now' :D

How can you choose all of the time, if you do.
Surely picking that option is telling the truth?

How does it feel to be the World’s most evil murderer, and Ringleader of The World's Worst Paedophile Ring (A.K.A. The World's Worst Murder Ring)?

As always nobody gives me credit for my role in the AIDS epidemic and putting Kony into power (I had to make the Kony 2012 campaign to bring attention to my work).

It's tough being an unrecognized Super Villain.

^That is an evil LOL.

Hey, all eyes will be on you during the Olympic Games this summer. Perhaps you can redeem yourself by winning a couple of gold medals.

That being said, the chances of that happening seem non-existent though after what you've been accused of

Of course I lie, I'm only human. That said, I only tell white lies that don't affect anything or anyone, so I (almost) never feel bad about them.

All the world’s a stage. . . . and we are the otters of the Universe. Willie Shakespeare met Richard Bach. We are playful and we love attention. This turns us sometimes into role playing. Gameface on.

As soon as they are old enough to understand, I have made a ’pact’ with every child of mine. They don’t lie to me - I don’t lie to them. This has served them well. On occasion because of the implicit trust we have in each other, I have taken their side and helped them stand their ground when in trouble at school because of a ’frame-up’ by a cunning student and a lazy teacher. This has helped clear their name.
Lying is a betrayal of trust.

As to what ’lies’ are, is at the core of this discussion, though.
Yes, a fiction-based movie is a ’lie’ - but we suspend disbelief for the sake of enjoyment. Presenting false appearances with an ulterior motive is to lie for gain. Lies cost money. And time.

However if a lady askes me whether I think she’s gained weight recently, I talk about the weather.

I do lie sometimes but I haven't told a lie for quite some time (and I hope it stays that way).

I don't lie much, it's usually to get out of something. I can't look at someone with a straight face and do it though, I usually laugh.

I find that I laugh sometimes too. But somehow I keep a straight face sometimes.

Well, given my line of work, I'm telling quite a few lies on a daily basis. I don't actually mind... It's just that I've gotten pretty good at it. And that lead me to tell a few more lies outside of work, too.

I'm not proud of admitting it, but it does come in handy way too often. I tend to not lie to friends and family, but there are far too many advantages to be had to not do it otherwise. Thus, I chose "often".

The only problem with telling a lie on a daily basis is that you often have to tell a bigger lie than the previous one you have said to cover up the smaller lie. And the lies you tell get bigger, and bigger and bigger.

That would be what being bad at lying will get you, yeah.

If you're smart about it, not so much. It's the little lies that go under the radar that get you really far. Aside from that, it entirely depends on who you are lying to. It's not like you need to keep it up forever, anyways.

Ahhhh.. I'd love to begin a massive debate in here, but I'm afraid that it would get out of hand and that I'd look like a 🤬 stirrer.

Based on what was said before, about good liars being able to fly under the radar and bad liars having to tell greater lies to cover up previous ones, it can really point out the realization that if a 'group' if you'd want to call it, went around centuries ago and started a lie, that it could be seen as something that, even though still skeptical to believe in the modern era, is true?
^ sorry if that made little sense. Its hard to explain over the Internet.

Hmmm, am I a gifted liar or something? I can easily lie with a straight face, unless I'm doing it as a joke. Then again I don't laugh really easily. It's really funny because I have joke-like arguments with friends and they think I'm serious and then get cross with me when they realize I was just joking.

My friend can do it with a straight face too. I can't. I crack up.
