I never lie. Never.

I very much want people to be able to count on my word as gold, which means not having them wonder if I mean what I say. Only way to be that way is to not lie.

After all, if poeple know you're going to say what you need to say to get through a situation, then they know they can't count on you to be up front with them when they need you to. What good are you then to anyone?

White lies, they happen from time to time, but I'm even inclined to not do those. "Do you like my new hair?" If not, then I'll answer "No." If she wanted me to like it she should have had me participate in the selection process. I'm not much on feelings anyway, so I'm not much on white lies to protect delicate feelings. :)

I'll be honest...

Voting for "Sometimes" just makes you look like you lie all the time but you don't want people to know you lie all the time. Everybody lies and they do it all the time because it's easy.

So basically you are lying to yourself. :P

Tell the truth: do you lie?

This thread is gonna be really funny. I can sense it.

I do lie sometimes, but it doesn't always get me far. Two words: Chocolate milk. I'm still hiding some details about the incident, which I'll hide until the end of time. If you're me, it's kind of funny it involved chocolate milk.

But yes, I lie sometimes. I wonder how many people are gonna lie on the poll. Here we go.

I never lie I tell the truth 100%.

The above sentence is a lie.

I do wish everyone told the truth. History would be so much easier at A level.

This reminds me of that movie with Ricky Gervais where he was the only one in the world that knew how to lie. Pretty hilarious I thought.

I do wish everyone told the truth.
I don't. Holy cow, can't you imagine the carnage? Everybody constantly spouting all the hatred they have for everybody else. Blacks and whites speaking their minds of each other. Husbands telling their wives they look fat. There would be murder in the streets!

You took it out of context.
I said that because History A level and higher source work is half trying to find out if they are telling the truth.

What if they think they are telling the truth? Would that be lying? ;)

If I believe in Santa and tell others he exist, would I be lying? Or ghosts?

That would be no different to the people who go around believing in God

*runs*

It's impossible not to, sometimes we HAVE to, me, I'm one of those people who isn't exactly a saint, and I sometimes lie whenever there is no real reason to do so, but that doesn't make me a untrustworthy person, when I make a promise, I'll go to the end of Earth to make sure I can go through with it, I don't lie about myself, I can accept myself for who I am, even the bad parts of me, and I want people to see me, as I see myself.

I lie. A lot, but I put "never" so I lied. I did that because I am a liar.

True.:)

For the record - as at time of posting:

Those who said ’Sometimes’ did not lie.

Those who said ’Rarely’ or ’Often’ are not liars, believing the terms that defined their relative lying, to be true.

Those that said ’Always’ are liars. They tell the truth to their doctors - or are treated for schizophrenia; saying you have a tummy ache when you have a bleeding neck isn’t rational or healthy, never mind hygienic. You can always get a fake DL, though.

Those that said ’Never’ are are those that think everything they’ve said, say, and will say, is, or was, true. Which makes them liars. No one knows everything they’ve said, say, and will say is, or was, true.

Isn’t that true?

That's hilarious.

Not lie, but very inaccurate.

Did you actually take a photo of your screen with your mobile? :odd:

That's a photo of a TV screen taken by a pocket digital camera, IIRC - I may be wrong; could have been a mobile capture. Screenshots of my iPhone output, of course, are much simpler; a valuable tip I learned from Jordan.

Everyone lies.

You speak the truth. For now. ;)

If lying is not telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, I lie every time I open my mouth. I never tell the whole truth. Moreover, nobody ever tells the whole truth.

But even if you leave "the whole truth" out of the equation, I like every day.

Q: "How are you doing?"
A: "Good" (Lie)
A: "Alright" (Lie)

Q: "What's up?"
A: "Nothing" (Lie)
A: "Not much" (Lie)

Q: "What did you do this weekend?"
A: "Worked on the house" (Misleading)
A: "Worked on the car" (Misleading)
A: "Watched a movie" (Misleading)

I find these questions to be some of the most challenging to answer. When you keep a major part of your life private (as I do) from your co-workers, you end up dodging, lying, and misleading on a regular basis.

I'd wager that by a strict definition of lying, everyone lies every day. I try not to lie about anything in a way that would harm anyone.

I have a friend who can lie a HUGE lie right to someones face while looking at them in the eye and not laugh. I think it's funny especially when I know he's lying lol. When I try to lie, I seem to crack up.

So today I told my dad I bought a cake on the way home from school. Oddly, he didn't ask any further details on it.
