Pope puts his papal foot in it - angers Muslim world

Wake up, Swift. It's well after lunch. Late night watching football? That was so heavily laden with sarcasm I even read it with a sarcastic voice in my head.

uh..yeah. Like I said my fault. I'm also not used to his posting style. We have had members on here that would post something like that and be serious while doing it.

I thought about using italics but decided to use bold... seeing as how I work at Ford now.

IMHO, this is it, this is the end if they go through with this.

The world isn't going to take this anymore. America is already fighting Al Queda. If they attack the Pope, they'll have a gigantic amount of Christians from all over the world on them.

It seems to me, Al Queda is getting too big an ego. Now that they think they can fight America, they think they can fight everyone else.

Just once, just ONCE, I'd love to see Al Queda make an attack on the Russians, Koreans, Indians or Chinese. But I hear they are allied with some Chinese forces, so it seems unlikely.

I beleive attacking any of those countries (particularly Russia) would be a short and drastic end to Al Queda. Russia does't exactly like the mid-east very much.

Don't you mean Catholic? :odd:

I do agree with you though, it would be one of the last straws. Unfortuantly, I see them continuing to take advantage of the more liberal Countries of the world, exploiting their laws and human rights until the world finally says enough. The only problem is, I don't think any Country wants to be the first, so until this "Jihad! Jihad!" phase escalates into something more (like attacking the Pope for quoting old writings for example) this trend will most likely continue.

While on the same subject here...

I was thinking today about all the items i've read in the paper and on the internet of different things that they have screamed or threatened "Jihad" over, and how i've heard it so much lately, that its become a joke, with little or no meaning anymore. To me, with the ice cream top as an example, its like they go out looking for reasons to threaten or declare Jihad. In that sense, the whole christian population could scream war on anyone who types or writes a small case "t" as it looks like an upside down cross. They say their not at fault, and that the world is out to get them, but I personally believe the human mind will find what it wants to find, and to me, this is the case. All this over reacting to absolutely nothing has become meaningless to me, and I assume to others as well. Which leads me to ask the question, what do they plan to achieve by all this nonsense other than to annoy everyone to the point where the public no longer cares what they say or think. Which they will probably scream "Jihad, Jihad!" over as well...

Just my 2 cents

Doesn't Jihad mean "Holy War"?.. If so how can a war be Holy?

Figures coming from these crackpots.

Well, they originally declare Jihad against Israel and America, hell the whole West for that matter, because they think it's Allah's wish for those said nations to be destroyed, and thus is "holy". But now they're just saying it because, like you said, they're crackpots.

If an average person was derogatory to the Muslim religon, they would hardly bat an eye. Although the Pope is what some deem "more than the average person," I still find it funny that the Muslim world would go crazy and off the deep end because a man stated something. With everything the Pope is taken away, he is still one man. Whether this was the Pope's own personal opinion or not, I don't see why anyone takes things other people say so easily to the heart. Even if most of the Muslim world doesn't live in a democratic society, I don't understand why so many people care about another mans words. Words are words and I know they hurt, but if one believes in their belief to the extent of which Muslims do, I don't understand for the life of me why they would care so much about what a person said about their God. I feel ones own self security is shown when they are offended by anothers words. If you believe in something and you do with all your heart, what another person says about you, your God, or anything in the world, should matter.

Sure, I'm offended at times just as all of you are. I don't stay offended for very long. I take what I don't like to hear and register it in my mind. I try and see every angle. If I believe something it doesn't mean that I won't have an open mind to another persons opinion. In the end, whether I agree with what I was originally offened by or not, I don't let the words of others bury themselves inside of me. I think it's ridiculous.

I agree Jjacks, I try to do the same in my own life. + rep

An attack on the leader of the Catholic church would likely result in massive decline in support for Islamic militants amongst the moderate Muslim community - in other words, a pop at the Pope would probably be particularly unpopular among a large proportion of a predominantely peaceful population.

I agree with your points, but can you please not double post and a quick spell check would not go amiss.

I need to figure out how to answer two or more seperate post in the same one ..Mr scaff..my bad .

And I have killed way too many brain cells to know how to use spell check...is that as good as dislexia ?

If I could only find spell check now.....

I managed the rest all by me self !

I wanna pie !

My turn now ? I am truly honored !:)

Simply a polite request, as to double post and misspell words are both uncharacteristic of you.

If you like I would be more than happy to merge the two posts together.

On the double quote bit, click the green + on the posts you want to quote and then hit post reply, the site will do the rest for you.

Ironnic how the pope mentions Jihad and spreading the word with a sword and have a nun die at the hands of angry Muslim protesters a couple days later.

Little do the Jihadists know that in reward for her years of servitude, she got 72 virgin Priests.

For some reason it was hard to find 72 virgin priests...

Yes, from the religion of "Peace" When the heck are the actual peacful muslims going to stand up to these Islamic-Facists? It's getting really old to hear about the "peace" of islam and their holy war against everyone not islamic. I'm a christian and I don't agree with the muslim faith or any other faith. But I don't blow up people or tell others to blow up people that don't believe in the same kind of Christianity I believe in.(they blow up the "weak" muslims too)

The peaceful ones are in America - we have democracy and they enjoy it.

You said earlier that there are plenty of US-sympathizers in Iran. I have to disagree - if I wore a shirt in Tehran proudly displaying my US heritage, I would not be seen again... except on YouTube getting my head cut off.

I'm not saying that the *only* peaceful Muslims are here in Dearborn... but the overwhelming majority, in my opinion, do not like the US or it's allies one iota. Otherwise you WOULD see them protesting the terrorism.

That is the case all around the world with pretty much all religions. And many of the Islamic nations have no concept of free speech, and it has nothing to do with the religion.

The same thing applies to religion in general. And perhaps the people who tell them the information tell them what they want them to hear. The same thing applies in China, where there is no official religion.
For example, let's say you don't speak Spanish. Now, the President of Mexico says something about the Jewish, saying "The Jews do not and did not deserve to be persecuted." Now imagine I only told you these bold parts: "The Jews do not and did not deserve to be persucuted."
You see? It's not necessarily the fault of the people for having their opinions, nor is it the fault of their religion. It is the fault of the government who told the people what they wanted the people to hear, much like it was over the Danish cartoon scandal.

While I know it would be difficult, do you honestly think that anybody that attacked Russia from the southwest would last very long when the entire Russian military is already sitting right there anyways?

The key difference being that Christians (at least nowadays) do not move into foreign countries and demand Christianity becaome the state religion; and neither do Christians adopt the policy of 'convert or die'. Our best 'scare tactic' is letting you know what happens when you die. As for free speech and Islam, I agree with you I suppose.

While I know it would be difficult, do you honestly think that anybody that attacked Russia from the southwest would last very long when the entire Russian military is already sitting right there anyways?

If the terrorist organizations have been pussies in attacking every other country, surely they wouldn't attack Russia on horseback waving swords. I'm pretty sure a Russian military presence wouldn't do much to stop the Muslims from taking aim at the infrastructure of Russian cities.
