Porsche 918 Spyder running Gran Turismo?

Concepts are meant to be CONCEPTS, and Denur stated showing the "potential" a company could achieve at some point in the future, sometimes the stuff you see on these cars is not even possible technology.

Looking at other concept cars in the past they have had all sorts of wacky things showing on screens in the dash, for example showing 'pie in the sky' connectivity features (usually with mobile network providers logos splashed all over it), or some cool interface or intergrated product that doesnt exsist.

Just because its seen on a concept doesnt mean in any way that anything is real including company partnerships.

Robin.

GT is a trade mark, and you can't use them without a permission. Read the licence on your manual.

Breaches of image use (accidental or on purpose) happen ALL the time, even Microsoft used an image of GT5 on its webpage to promote Forza 3... you think they asked permission?

Porsche would of spent hundreds of thousends of pounds/euro's producing this concept car. they would of painstakingly agonised over every minuute detail, would of had discussions about every angle, shape, texture of the many thoasends of parts which make this car.

Porsche would not then get to the dashboard and go "well we have run out of budget and we need a race track/timing monitoring system on the dash, I know we will just photoshop/rip-off the PSP screen - nobody will notice"..

Nah - this ladies and gentleman is a partnership between Porsche and Polyphony.

This confirms that Porsche is in, Got to be.

I do agree it would be quite surprising if the PD/ Porsche association was entirely fortuitous considering the level of detail this kind of project requires.

However a GT enthusiast and ballsy graphic designer could have put this in the layout with the board of communication decision maker not noticing the possible impact of it. (I agree not so very likely neither).

I’m looking for the inclusion of the brand , one day or another, but until there is an official announcement I believe it is wise to consider this wishful thinking.

It appears that they actually did photoshop it in there:

No porsche in GT5 for now.. sorry.

I agree it is wishful thinking, but it is nonetheless strange given the relationship between PD and Porsche.
It is probably just a misstake or misplaced joke and i don't think they're even aware of the "impact" as i don't think this speculation extends much further than this website, as we're starting to see messages in almost anything GT-related these days.....

Some dim guy in the 'mock up UI dept' just went on google and saw something cool... copy, paste :ouch: I bet an explanation will come from someone official soon enough. Maybe it was a tight deadline and he thought the high ups dont play video games and wont even notice!

Porsche also never do concepts which thy don't put into production (I think).

And as VW own Porsche now couldn't they tell EA to 'ef off' as the agreement they had was with Porsche - we now own Porsche and we want them in the best game in the world not the ****e you produce type thing?

To be fair though if Porsche isn't in GT I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, it would be nice if they were included but they are not the be all and end all.

I'll be glad when the game comes out though as i can then stop visiting this forum for new information. I think I have a problem, i'm slightly addicted to checking for new info - are you addicted to doing this as well?

I fact can the mods tell me how many times i have visited this forum year to date - i bet it would be quite scary to see.

It was in the media recently that people who use the internet a lot ie us mugs constantly checking for GT news have a tendency to be depressed.

PD are actually messing with our health.

With the depression and the constant delays they are a bunch of see you next Tuesday's aren't they?

happy timez.

Or! :dunce:Porsche used the forza pic in terms of their agreement with MS, and the GT by the new secret agreement with sony :scared:

The Carrera GT (although it went into production) DID NOT have a LCD dial interface and OS as shown on the concept. So even if the basic car goes into production most of the hi tech wacky stuff is often lost in the transition, production cars are almost never indentical to the concept in every way.

Stranger things have happened! :sly: I guess we wont know 100% for a couple of days.

As other have already stated, abusive use of copyrighted material - moreover in an official company promotion - could end up as a quite expensive “private joke”.

Porsche claims it's the fastest hybrid-car with a 7.30 minute lap time around the Nurburgring, so to maximise attention to this fact they probably looked for a small high-res slightly futuristic and technologically advanced looking image of the mighty Ring to put on their 918 display.

As they have the laziest design department who only put pictures of 911's through photoshop, there was probably some new intern who was playing with a PSP and hey presto...

"what's this? GT? oh, yeah that's EA right? wow, that menu looks quite nice..."

Not in this case, no way two franchises (Gran Turismo and Forza) would taint their relationships with manufacturers (which they strive for) over something so trivial.

I bet PD and T10 are happy they used their images for the new concept :) Free exposure... But only for the people that know.... ;)

Yep, this is not going to happen.

Still, I wonder - what happened on Wednesday, January 27th and what is going to happen on Friday, March 26th?

I agree, thats exactly what I think happened here, they just wanted a futuristic looking image of the ring and some sort of HUD and hey presto. Laziest design department indeed, they havent made a new looking main range car in decades and I dont see why 'Porsche Design' products are so revered.

Precisely because of that - the ability of keeping reinventing/reinterpreting a classic design from almost almost 50 years.

How do we know that is indeed a Forza 3 pic? And please don't just quote neogaf again...

It'd be hilarious () if it was just a PR faux-pas. Still, I really do think Sony like to spring surprises, and it's clear that Kaz likes messing with our heads. It serves us right, in the main... :D

Nice eye, GT and Forza ha!

By the way, is it Photoshop or really a Porsche site pictures?

Because, either way, Porsche will be in the Future(next) GT title.

It's an official Porsche pic.

Pleasing both Forza and GT fans and sending confusing and mixed messages.
