Getting back on topic...

I'm suprised nothing official has come from Sony or Porsche about this image, even if its just a photoshop blunder im sure all this fuss about it would have spread over the web leading to someone explaining what happened.

Robin.

Because it is prettier than a California, it may be weird, unconventional and d#mn right stupid as a concept but at least it's funny and its shape is more cohesive in execution than that monstrousity from Maranello, even if they put a Ferrari badge on the Allegro they know it will sell because it is a Ferrari.

Like Porsche they not seem to be bothered anymore, anything goes.
Unlike Porsche there seems to be hope with the new 458 italia but that still leaves the California in their current line up.

Well, I guess I need to make an appointment then.

Oh, and as far as ugly goes....

* Extremely ugly orange strange car pic *

There, I win.

What t.. 🤬 is that?

The gumpert it's not meant to be sexy, he's evil and I like it's styling. The enzo is for sure ugly, but the F50 is well styled.

OT-> In the basis of ugly super cars...

^ The Sbarro Autobau is more of a unique type; the Weber Faster One is just that; it is the Faster One but still unable to outrun ugly. :indiff:

BT-> It is really odd, neither Turn10/MS, PD/Sony, and Porsche aren't bickering each other! Even after all these hard evidence relegating infridgements. Something is up...

Type of what? Ugly?

You haven't seen the California in real life. I hear it's one of the best looking new road cars today.

How would you know i haven't seen one in real life?

Are you watching me? anyway i hear it's one of the ugliest Ferrari cars ever, and i think it's the ugliest Ferrari ever.

Back on topic, here are some extracts from Car Magazine

"I managed to grab some time with Wolfgang Durheimer, PorscheÂ’s R&D boss, and he was clearly still buzzing from effectively stealing the show. And I think there must be some satisfaction from showing PorscheÂ’s incredible engineering core after all the talk of them being subsumed by VW and all that scary rumour of platform sharing with Audi and the like".

"And when I quizzed him on the 918’s sub-7:30 lap time at the ‘Ring he revealed that their own simulations are within 3-seconds of the times finally achieved on the ‘Ring by Walter Röhrl. He wasn’t saying whether man or computer was quicker, though!"

So they obviously have their own sims like any manyfacturer, or are they using GT5?..........

Ofcourse i am not being serious

Holy cow, what other computer simulation would they be running!?!!? Forza? Shift? Some in-house stuff? GT baby! :sly:

Yeah, these facts are strongly suggesting Porsche in GT, if that really happen maybe I can see my almighty Carrera GT in the game. I wouldn't even dream with that two weeks ago!

Sorry guys, wasn't my intention to give false hope, i did state it wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

Those are real facts, but every car manufacturer has its own in house sim program on which they test the cars before building them.
It is merely a computer program which probably calculated and visualised the perfect lap around the Ring in the 918.

So no confirmation they actually used something like GT5.

I hear what you're saying and I'm not getting too excited, but really I have to say it struck me as very odd that they would even mention running a simulation of a vehicle on the Nurburgring. To my knowledge that kind of thing actually doesn't occur in the auto industry. Video games is where that happens.

I strongly doubt Porsche has their own in-house driving simulation software and I have never heard of a car company that has had anything of that nature - software for testing vehicle performance on the scale of lap times in simulated, specific real world environments.

The simulations that are done when designing a car are very concise and specific to certain functions of the vehicle and could not be (without enormous effort) extrapolated into a lap time on a race course. GT5 would be as good a place as any to do this. Seriously.

So for a high-up Porsche person to mention this, in addition to Porsche using GT PSP materials in the official 918 press release has my brain a stewing.

I would assume you haven't seen one in real life due to the low number that's been produced already.

BMW runs each of it's cars through a Nurburgring simulation program

Really? I believe you but can you post up any info on it? Before I posted saying that basically "car companies don't do racing simulations" I searched all over to try and find anything to contradict me.

*Edit* Anyhow thinking about it... as of what, January, KY confirmed Porsche not being in GT. So if the delay shortly afterward had anything to do with Porsche, certainly between then and when Mr. Durheimer talked about the 918 simulation there was not enough time for PD to collaborate with Porsche to where they had accurate simulated results (ie a solidly modeled 918) ... in short I now doubt if PD had anything to do with the 918 simulation lol :P

This. They put their cars on a dyno-type machine and have it physically drive while following the driving line of the Nurburgring, cornering, braking, and accelerating appropriately until a fully-simulated lap is done. They definitely did not use GT5 for their simulation laps.

You shouldn't assume something which is not that unlikely, i might actually work as a Ferrari employee or drove the actual car to the PD studio for modelling, you just wouldn't know.
But i'm not and you're assumtion is correct this time as i've not seen one IRL, but i could have ( on a motorshow, on the road, etc. the car is available for some time ) and i sincerely doubt if i saw one i would change my judgement. ;)

I don't think that games which have a contract with Porsche let put image of another game in that car... In my opinion there is a partnership between Porsche and PD...

Porsche Time Line

-2007 SEMA auto show; Porsche is not in yet. Ferrari is in and Lamborghini is a "maybe".

-May 2008; Porsche hasn't been contacted yet, but Kaz believes they'll have Porsche in Gran Turismo 5 Speaking with the Official PlayStation Magazine, Yamauchi commented, “We’ll have most - no, all of the major manufacturers.”
When pushed to further clarify on the possibility of the Porsche brand appearing in Gran Turismo 5, he simply stated, “probably.”

-October 2008; Kaz has spoken with Porsche and damage is O.K. with them. Negotiations could occur because contracts with other parties had ended. Porsche (that’s right… Porsche) have stated that they do not have a problem with their cars being damaged in the game. From Ahmed: Kaz's response to Lamborghini and Porsche: "the thing is we are working on it , because like the porsche have some contracts with other games manufacturer, and those contracts has just ended so its possible for us now to negotiate."

-August 2009 (GamesCom); Porsche will likely not appear in Gran Turismo 5, signing an exclusive deal elsewhere.

Here's a little timeline for you to catch up on the Porsche saga.

and your's..?

Seriously though cars are becoming far to computerized these days. There's no need for something silly like that in a car. I mean what's next? "Oh gee I might have the optional toaster in my car and kettle too so that I can make a cup of tea and some toast on my way to work!!" wow!!

They already have that in other cars they're called RV's :sly:

That makes me happy because:

1- It can be an easter egg that tells that it must appear on GT sometime
2- One of those guys in the marketing or design department loves GT5 and did this on purpose

Both options are awesome.
