I don't have the body yet; for now I'm just collecting parts for the engine I'm building for it. I'm going for 245ish wheel horsepower all-motor via a 1997 Prelude twin-cam. Here's my old sedan, though. I kept the front lip and headlights, and the wagon will also be a dark blue (BMW Monaco Blue Metallic, to be specific), so it won't look much different from this angle:

I got a 1992 NC II ford fairlane, yes its a old mans car, but before all the Chevy n Holden owners adds their two cents, I have a sportsman 93 NC with a ED xr6 engine (green rocker cover) and I am swapping the head into my fairlane, from 145kw at the flywheel to 175kw, not much but something, plan to port n shave the heads before it goes into mine, getting a bigger camshaft, injectors, maybe extractors, want 200kw at the wheels before I go down south to tunnel vision for a tune, in the end, I'm looking to have a 600-700hp daily on low boost, 10-15psi with a SOHC turbo, yes it needs more low

Had it for ages now :P Got a Quaife one on the left quarter-light as well.
 
What is the red tape like in Australia for importing cars? If it's cheap and not much of hassle, I'll finish Uni, get what I need to get and move to Australia, or New Zealand.

Going through an importer can possibly save thousands, but there is already such a large variety of imports for sale in Australia you don't need to go through an importer unless you are after something pretty rare.

Lets put it this way. I bought this car from a person who owned it as a private import with 132,000k on the clock. It came with HKS SSQ BOV, HKS Hipermax coilovers, Fujitsubo 3" Stainless exhaust, Apexi turbo timer and rear strutbar. Being that this is a Yellow RS FOUR-S Dayz with twin sunroofs is actually semi rare. I paid $13,000 for it over 5 years ago now. Absolute bargain.
Since then I have added a stainless dump pipe, FMIC, K&N + Box/Ducting, Oil/Air separator, HDi EBC, Front and Rear adjustable rose joint Camber and Toe arms, MOMO wheel, New 17" wheels and 4 autometer gauges (boost,oil temp, oil pressure, water temp). All of these things cost about $2,500. No labour as I fitted everything my self.

I believe NZ is cheaper again for Imports.
 
My favourite angle on the '83 and also the last time you see a picture of it with this stance. Early next year the stiffer Koni dampers and lowered springs go in. The 15" original wheel size will be retained but will go wider front and rear. It will also get improved airflow and hopefully I can still source an Ansa exhaust (fingers crossed). I HEARD the exhaust on YouTube and almost choked on my cereal this morning. I thought mine was as loud but this is just an octave or so better (I do not want to attach the video seeing as there is a video forum but you can search "GTV6 with Ansa exhaust" on YT if you are interested).

There's a certain list of vehicles you can import from Japan under what's called SEVS regulations.

It is pretty extensive. Everything from Skylines/Supras/RX-7s to Caldinas (MPV with the running gear from a Celica GT-Four), Kei cars, etc.

New Zealand is even better. Not only do they have a lot more to choose from in terms of imports, any modification can be made legal so long as its certified and engineered.
