Not really. The muffler is 9lbs lighter than stock, and flows 3x the air. I realized it looked stupid long before I put it on the car - I made fun of it myself in the post with the picture. Or didn't anyone realize that...

"Car like that" coming from a guy who drives a 1990 Honda Prelude was quite amusing, though. I didn't know whether to laugh, or to point and laugh. Laughing won. That's why I posed the question "What exactly is that supposed to mean?"

Some people...

lol, sorry I couldnt help my self I had to go fishing, and yes your car would probably be faster than mine, but hey how much you earning?

My car reflects my financial situation, im a 17 year old kid who is still at school and earns a whopping $100AU a week lol.

The way I look at it, you love your car and I love my car, lets agree to disagree. Sorry if I offended you

Believe it or not, I don't earn a whole lot more than you. The muffler cost $0.01 to buy, $22 to ship, and $0 to put on (I'm not joking). Which is why it's mounted retarded, because I didn't want to spend extra money when mounting it crooked will perform as well or better than it being straight.

You didn't offend me, no need for apologies. I go through the same routine all the time, it comes with the car it seems. I got over it a long time ago.

Ive been on for a while but never really introduced myself. I just bought my first car so i thought this would be a gd time to do it ! I turned 16 in november and have just bought a 1997 Rover Mini cooper Sportspack. Pics below

 👍

How much did you pay for something like that if you don't mind me asking?

I've got a '75 in the shed and saw one just like yours on Saturday - new (post 1985) ones are a rare sight around here. Seeing it all shiny and flash gave me motivation to get stuck back into mine and it's in the shop as we speak...

That Mini just bring up a smile to my face, and that should tell you what I think about your car! 👍

Right now i'm driving this 06 Outback limited, If I work hard I may have a MK1 MR2 before the end of the year:)
If I was driving that Legacy, I'd put off the Mister Two for as long as possible. :P

I paid just under £4000 which is as much as i could afford being 16 ! Ive seen example mostly the sport 500 verions goin for in excess of £10000 ive been saving 4 years, slight bit of rust under right light but im getting stripping that back and sorting it when i can. Apart from that really pleased with the buy :D

It's quite nice to drive, I just wish we had gotten the XT (turbocharged) model. :indiff:

But it's my parents car (even though I'll be primary driver 80% of the time) and it's automatic. I can give up the luxuries like heated 8 way adjustable seats, AWD, power steering, space to put crap in, etc. for a decent manual trans. mr2 that I can get dirty working on.

Wow way to go  even old mini's are getting hard to get hold of at decent prices, i love the car and id love to own one. congrats :)

What's the insurance like on Minis? I know there is a huge premium on their price at the moment, but is this continued with the insurance?

I'd love to have one as a first car, but I think I'd need abit more leg room, front and back, for my mates.

Insurence in my first year was £930 for a 998cc. Being a 17 year old male at the time, the insurence companies get away with daylight robbery. The latest quote on the car I just posted - a 1275cc, for a 19 year old - was £540. Mind you, on any first car, at 17 you're bank account's going to get raped, so I didn't do to badly.

I've had 5 adults in my first Mini. Kept hitting the knee of the guy in the middle with my elbow every time I changed gear, but we managed it.

Mine's a 1275, modified (not OEM seats or motor) and I'm charged $NZ250 ($UK96) p/a!

And I thought mine was high!

A mate of mine pays $NZ80 ($UK30) p/a for full cover on his early 90's Galant.

Bloody hell indeed. My first car ('90 Mazda Eunos) cost me $300 NZ a year to insure, back when I was 16, on a restricted license. Around the same for the Legacy too, but that was as the secondary driver, with a stupidly high excess...but getting insurance at all, with a turbo-AWD car was something. Insurance company is still messing around after it got witten off though...

My STi's insurence per year is : 1200 EUR (1450 US$), but only because it's insured by my mum. I (22) would pay 5000 EUR + per year ( 6000 US$+ )

We can lock this thread now. This is the ****ing greatest car in this thread. I'd get rid of both of my Focuses for that Mini in a nanosecond. That is one beautiful car.

bugeye! still not offical but its supposed to happen on April 1st since I go home at the end of march. Someone with a bugeye wants to swap and I wanted a bugeye. Need a welder for it though. Still looking, thats the only thing thats stopping us right now.:nervous:

That's a very nice car you've got yourself there. 👍

I like the wheels, and the smoothness of the body - especially in that first pic. Your engine bay looks neat and tidy too.

:)
