I wish. I had trouble with the old carb, especially when it was cold, so I got my grandpa to take it somewhere and they put an automatic choke one on, then for a couple of days the choke wasn't dissengaging and the truck would idle really high all the time. I finally got tired of it and went outside and messed with some screws and linkage cables on the carb and it's running fine now.

Other than that one problem though, it's a really cool truck. It's really lightweight too so I don't even have to punch the gas for it to get up and go. I think if I ever did punch it (and I haven't punched it to the floor yet, I'm still too scared I'll blow the tranny or engine) it would go like a bat out of hell. I know if I just barely put my foot in it the truck will do about 45 or 50 easy, it's really a good sleeper.

Cool truck. 👍

Unreliable? a walk in the park compared to what my Friend went through.

My friend has a '76 Ranger with a '78 bed with a 6" factory lift. He has an Edelbrock carb on it, and he had lots of problems. (brakes, belts, Thermostat, water pump, window seal, throttle cable, etc...) It's bright blue, and it looks like it was painted in one coat. (runs are everywhere) He's spent it's worth keeping it on the road, not to mention how much it drinks.

But, anyway, cool truck dude! Is it really that fast with a 302 pulling all that weight? My friend's truck has a 390 with an edelbrock carb, and he can hardly hit 45 before the next stoplight. (must be the way the transmission is.)

Ahh I see...but the carb's about the only problem, right? Reliable compared to other truck like yours out there, not to mention High-Test's friend's.

Yeah other than the carb problems we were having it runs great. I did have to swap in a new starter though, cause one day I was gonna take it up to a car show (not enter, but just drive it up there) and it wouldn't start so I replaced the starter and it worked fine after that.

High-Test I'm sure your friend's truck probably has a lower gear ration in the rear end which is why it takes so long to get going, not to mention it's lifted and probably has bigger tires. That 302 winds up really fast, and I'd be willing to bet the gear ratio in the rear end is a lot higher. Anyway one of these days when that 302 goes out I was thinking about either putting a crate 5.0 L in it or maybe a 390.

Yeah, it's definitely the gear ratio. He can't do much in "Granny low", but he could pull tree stumps all day if he wanted to.:dopey:

Only picture of the 2000 Neon (about 30 minutes after a deer ran into me - $4200 in damage). Used for going back and forth to work. It's currently at the body shop getting fixed. While it doesn't look that bad, it was a big frickin deer and almost ended up coming through the side window.

This isn't mine, but my brother in laws drag car. 1984 Dodge Daytona. Had a stroked 400 and ran a best of 9.26 in the quarter mile. Currently building up a 440 (due to the 400 going bye bye).

Nice Mopar family there 👍

Do you know if your brother-in-law used the RWD conversion kit/K-member that the factory put out? Those kits are pretty rare I think....

Thanks:) There are other mopars in the family and we still wish we had some of the past ones;)

I don't believe it's a factory kit. The car was bought out of michigan and is a full tube chassis. Here's a better picture of the engine bay. The mounts for the front suspension have since been modified.

For some added salivation, here's a pic of a friends 69 Dart and 68 Superbee.
Picture_20Dart_Bee_04.jpg

The dart hasn't run with it's new motor, but it's going to be fast.

The motor? A 557" Ray Barton Hemi. Should be good for low 8s at least. Tuned and engine dynoed at 874 HP @ 6700 rpm and 741 ft lbs @ 5700 rpm. The motor was originally in this car: http://www.thehemi.com/rides.php?id=0025. Bob's Dart should be a bit faster since it weighs about 800 lbs less than that Dart.

Plymouth is really cool. Got some style to it for sure. 👍 I have an Altima 2.5s, too. Mine's a '04 though, right before the update. :guilty:

Edit:
Mine is lowered bit, with 17" rims. Still looks the same as in the photo(follow the link), except for the scrape on one of the rims from when I slid into a curb recently. :( post#1248

Same here....

557ci? Thats 9 litres - that car must have a humongo gas tank, it'll drain in matter of hours with a stock one!

Well, the drives will only last around 8 seconds at a time:D That motor is streetable if you want to equip some kind of exhaust and mufflers on it:) The HP and TQ ratings on that motor was with 91 octane gas, so while the mileage will be crap compared to "normal" motors, it would probably be exceptional for that HP.

We calculated the fuel "economy" (economy used very loosely) in the Daytona at a little under 1/2 mile per gallon (or over 150 L/100 km). Fuel is C14 (114 octane) and costs $16 CDN per US Gallon. It's a full out race motor though with no concern for streetability:) It's actually funny to watch fuel squirting into the bowls on the carb. It's like watching liquid money.

Yeah, big time. Liquid money getting burned up ;)

0.5mpg is the worst mileage I have ever heard. Anything lower is just insane.

Well, I don't think you would want to take it out for a ride  you don't want to stall in middle of the road!

Well, top fuel dragsters use somewhere around 5-6 gallons of nitromethane to go 1/4 mile, so figure them at around 0.05 mpg or so. :)

Back to "normal" cars...

evo_two.jpg

When I took my car to the road course at Summit Point Raceway, I averaged 8 mpg on the day. It's hard to get accurate MPG numbers for autocross, due to the short distances involved, but it's probably around 5 mpg. When the car was a daily driver, I got around 18-20 mpg.

The motor's not stock... It's got this package:

They don't have that grill anymore, right?

No, that front grill is only on the Evo 8. The 7, 8, and 9 all share the same chassis. But the front grills are different with each iteration.

My car was one of the first USDM Evo 8s, purchased about a month after the car "officially" came to the States.

A couple new shots of my 3.

Pics taken at Classic.

Plus, the car I put as my own for April Fool's Day.
Actually, got a few of my old classmates though I never admitted it was a joke to some of them.:sly:
