69Dodge_ChargerI wish. I had trouble with the old carb, especially when it was cold, so I got my grandpa to take it somewhere and they put an automatic choke one on, then for a couple of days the choke wasn't dissengaging and the truck would idle really high all the time. I finally got tired of it and went outside and messed with some screws and linkage cables on the carb and it's running fine now.
Other than that one problem though, it's a really cool truck. It's really lightweight too so I don't even have to punch the gas for it to get up and go. I think if I ever did punch it (and I haven't punched it to the floor yet, I'm still too scared I'll blow the tranny or engine) it would go like a bat out of hell. I know if I just barely put my foot in it the truck will do about 45 or 50 easy, it's really a good sleeper.
Cool truck. 👍
Unreliable? a walk in the park compared to what my Friend went through.
My friend has a '76 Ranger with a '78 bed with a 6" factory lift. He has an Edelbrock carb on it, and he had lots of problems. (brakes, belts, Thermostat, water pump, window seal, throttle cable, etc...) It's bright blue, and it looks like it was painted in one coat. (runs are everywhere) He's spent it's worth keeping it on the road, not to mention how much it drinks.
But, anyway, cool truck dude! Is it really that fast with a 302 pulling all that weight? My friend's truck has a 390 with an edelbrock carb, and he can hardly hit 45 before the next stoplight. (must be the way the transmission is.)
