I had the same thing in an Elise 111R

My No.1 car in GT4 – I have one tuned to around 270bhp like my Exige and with a big wing on the black and sticky rubber – only thing is Krypton Green isn't an option in GT4, so I went for yellow.

I would be so pleased if the Exige S2 is in GT5 – especially in KG.

I upgraded my BMW with a H&R sports suspension, which improved driving quite a lot, and lowered the car by 40mm at the front and 15mm at the back.

The next steps are a new exhaust (ok, I confess its mostly about sound and looks, and just slightly about performance) and new brakes. Previous upgrades were a K&N air filter (just a replacement one for the original, I needed a new one anyway), 18" rims and Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.

Comments welcome! :sly:

interceptor, nice ride! wheels look tasteful and the spring height now looks just about right. different to stock but not ridiculously showy.

just one question, if you are going for looks and mods etc, why did you buy a 5 door saloon and not go for a 3 door coupe of the 3 series? the 3 door is one of the most beautiful cars from the 90s, just wondered...

Yup, that's where I'm heading at.

Agreed, but at the time, the task rather was to get a car I could live with (and I definitely can with this one). Time and money were factors, so I got this one from a dealership not far away. This won't be my last car anyway, but certainly a nice one for a few years. 👍

With the BMW 3 Series, the Coupe or the Sedan can have a tasteful exterior if modified right. I've seen a few racing E36 M3 Sedans that look as good, if not better, than the E36 M3 Coupe with the same modifications.

Heres a recent picture of my 3 week old car....

this picture explains how it happened.

(van is actually a transit pickup but i couldnt fit that in the little car shape!)
Will cost about £350-400 to fix up and spray that damage :banghead:

e36, that's the serial number i couldn't remember last night! ;)

well fair enough, i just think the back lights look better on a coupe. they are a little longer and maybe lower set?

bondy, poor you! i guess that happens sometimes huh, you always have to watch out for idiots in front of you... absolutely loved the pic though, i actually laughed out loud, great skillz 👍

What engine size you got in that bad boy?
It's not as "bad" as you might think. It's a 323, a 2.5 litre I6 with 170hp - not the world, but enough for some fun.

Many people think that the 323 has a 2.3 litre engine, and that only the 325 has a 2.5l. They both have the same displacement though. The 323 one actually is from a later generation (M52), but some technical changes make it have less hp than its equally sized brother (M50). Its all politics, they needed to make the 323 slower than the 325, at least on paper. In real life, it's supposed to be pretty much the same as the 325. I never tried that though.

Clay, Scratch X, Tech Wax, and a whole lotta sweat!!

It was too hot to be doing this. But, it was worth it.

Ahh, those rice tips are gone!

And I messed around with one of the old shots in Photoshop. :)

Pardon the mediocre pictures, but I figured I'd test the camera in my new phone to take a picture of my car with its new (used) wheels and new (new) tires:

What's the engine size Duke?
It's a 2.5l straight 6, rated at 184 hp. Post-facelift 325i, making it somewhere between the slightly older 323i and 328i. It's not a rocket sled, but it's got enough power to be fun to drive. I was looking for a 330i in the same trim (ZSP sports package + manual trans + heated leather + moonroof + xenons) but they commanded about a $5,000 premium over what I paid for this. And my real target - a 330i ZHP competition package like ///M-Spec's old car - was at least $8,000 more. I really couldn't justify the added expense.

speedyK hasn't posted here yet, but he recently blew out his 1.8L in the SC Exige from a bad downshift.

Best wishes with the recovery and/or replacement motor.

Yee-ouch. Ta for the info, exigeracer.

Same again, speedyK, or an entirely different type of engine?

I'm not suprised. I remember in his video he posted, he kept downshifting too early and the car would bounce off the rev limiter a few times before getting back into the rpm range.

Thanks :)

New engine goes in next week (with the Bemani S/C). Bad downshifts cost more in real life than on GT4! 👎

But, while I was waiting for the repair, I couldn't resist buying another Exige! Krypton Green again (what else?), but not a Cup and no S/C.

And there is absolutely no way I'll over-rev this one!

And no worries about fuel costs either!

Ixo 1:43 scale model :sly:

With the new engine in, you might want to learn how to heel-toe downshift - it'll pay off in the long run.

I'm surprised you haven't been doing it prior to now. Actually I'm surprised you haven't had a compression-lockup send you off the track backwards.

Good luck for the future. 👍 :)

:P

If you listen carefully, you will hear that I do heel and toe normally. That's not too hard in the slower corners.

When I blew it, I had just overtaken an M3 who, on the previous lap, had virtually come to a stand still at the turn-in point for a corner when I was coming up fast and committed.

I was determined to leave him behind me so, once I was past him, I left my braking as late as possible going into the hairpin. 130mph, Damp track and semi-slicks bearing down on this 180° turn at 130mph. 6-speed box with imprecise gate, sintered, unprogressive clutch. Simply messed it up – but I'm working on the heel and toe.

Hopefully GT5 will support the full G25 functions :)

You could have just put "I screwed up"

That would have saved a lot of typing.

Awesome car though.👍
