As you can see from the last photo, the PS3 gets dusty real quick. I have to dust it once every two days for it to be looking decent.

At least you don't leave thumbprints on it. :scared:

You listen to Bon Jovi. Ha-Ha.

So do you need an internet connection to rip CDs to the HDD? I'm lucky I was able to download the two demos while I could.

Ah...Duck got table tennis, I've played sometimes in real life, and I suck at it big time. How is the game Duck?

Anyway, a little bit tight, but nice and clean setup:tup:

If you don't like Bon Jovi, you can no longer call yourself human.

If you want it to automatically get tracks and such, then I guess so. I just ripped the music from my PSP.

Definitely fun, but once you get to the middle of the second difficulty, it's as hard as a rock. I pretty much got stuck at that point about a few months ago, and it's one of those games where I'll probably finish in a few months from now.

Sorry; what I meant when I asked the question was do you need an internet connection to rip the tracks with the metadata. I have a lot of my library already documented a labeled, but I'm not sure if the metadata will transfer to the ps3's OS.

Metadata? As in track names and stuff?

I ripped it fine from my PSP, but I'm not sure how CDs would work. :indiff:

Okay, I tested it an it does read the metadata. With CD's, however, I think you need an internet connection.

Omnis, what kinda TV is that? Is it a 32" Samsung LCD? If so, how does the PS3 run on it?

Thanks! :)

Nope, it's the 26. It looks fantastic with the right settings.

I had my PS3 attached to the sucky S–Video capture card on the computer—thought it was about time I took a picture.

I really like the flexibility of the PS3’s output, having had it hooked up via component cables at 720p, 1080i and again at 480i (different TV again), and finally SCART during a show–and–tell session; pity I couldn’t get my DVDs to output in RGB.

Hope Sony fixes the current 720p issues for those having problems.

Hey! You're not supposed to have one, yet! That's cheating!

Awesome little setup, btw.

Lets just say I was extremely fortunate in that I was able to import a Japanese console.

Cheers, there was a DFP attached to the desk, but thought an unobscured view of the dust collector was more impressive.

BTW: Accept my friend invite, or I’ll send you a copy of that awesome game called Gundam… :mischievous:

Well, for now:

I still have to rip some more music to the HDD, but I plan on getting a 100GB one in about a month or so off newegg

The heat this thing put out is close to nothing, or as my roommate said, less than his 360 on full bore

Dude, you're using an SDTV? You're, like, in the 18th century.

Also, I would try to get that HDD as soon as possible. I don't think you can transfer demos and stuff easily on it, so it'd be a total PITA to redownload and retransfer stuff again.

Plus, once you get the HDD and you're getting ready to format it, be sure to create a second partition for Linux for the future (since you have to wipe your HDD again to create a partition if you ever decide to try Linux).

Im not to concerned about losing data right now, but when I start gaming ( like disc's, not demos) I will have a HDD by then.

I MIGHT install linux on, even though I have no idea on how to use it.

yes, the PS3 and PSP do. I have album covers for some of my MP3 files on both PSP and PS3, so it is capable of doing it.

Did it get that from CDs you ripped, or from MP3's you copied over? If it's from when you ripped the CD's, then it could have looked up on CDDB/Gracenote/etc.. Most rip software uses the TOC on the CD as a unique ID, then gets corresponding information from the web. The info on ID3 tags is often ignored; it'd be really cool if Sony's software can understand even well-written tags.

Didn't have time to clean but here's a little shot of "The Basement, East Annex"

Nice setup.

So, does the candle next to the TV mess with your Wii, if it's lit?

And don't worry about the state of cleanliness, you have a kid(s) and that just makes keeping things clean impossible.

It probably would, but we never light those candles. I have to turn the track lighting really low or even off or it messes with the Wii pretty bad!

Pako.... that pic reminded me how much I miss having a basement!

I grew up in the North East (New Hampshire), and because of the frost line, everyone had basements... unfortunately in Texas this isn't something builders have much experience with, and in central Texas it is even worse due to the thick layer of limestone and below that the thick caliche soil that if not properly treated, like with a french drain system, can cause severe water damage.

My wife and I are in the midst of discussing building a new home, and many of the builders we have spoken with refuse or have no experience in building basements.... :ouch:

BTW: I sympathize with you on the room disorder... we have a couple of miniature room decorators ourselves. ;)

And as you know, their redecorating skills are not simply limited to their own game rooms....

Here they have discovered the joy of turning the music room into a train station: 💡

What state are you in? For example, New Jersey (primarily the pine barrens) hardly has any houses with basements, thus basement theaters/game rooms/etc. are non-existent. Contractors & real estate salespeople look at you as if you have 3 heads when you ask where the basement is. Not sure why NJ has this problem; something with the high water table, I think.

Provided your plot of land is zoned for having finished rooms below-grade, just make sure the "basement" is >10' high, from concrete base to ceiling joists. You can always bring a more competent contractor in later to finish it up as you see fit. Also, if you are low on a hill or anywhere near water, make sure to bring in an expert in water table maintenance. New homes + water = mold. Actually, there's tons of things I could come up with to look out for. You're better off informing yourself here, otherwise this thread could get hijacked real quick.
