Here's my setup for now... Display is an 82" Mits, Thrustmaster T500 plus shifter, Playseat Forza Motorsport 4, and a few accessories for added realism.

Very nice setup :dunce:

But it's a Sharp. And that's not a good trait. And it's a $5000 Sharp.

DLP is great for movie theaters with an endless budget to supply dead lamp. We had a DLP, first lamp died within 9 months, second didn't last a year, then the computer started going AND it needed another bulb.

50" Pioneer Kuro [plasma] is the best display I've ever owned. Only with I could have afforded the 60" Pro model.

I have a 67" Samsung LED DLP and I never have to change bulbs. The picture is substantially better than my brand new LED Samsung 8000 series LCD. And the 8000 cost 2K more. Nothing beats DLP for picture quality in my opinion. If you're lucky enough to have an LED or Laser DLP you're good. Even Mitsu bulb based Diamond Series DLP spank any LCD you can mention. DLP IMO is picture quality king. People just hate on them because of bulbs and bulky enclosure.

I was talking about LCD's. DLP is nice but i've read various things and reasons why not to get them.

Looking at some of these setups thoroughly depresses me :( i have a 26 inch tele, using a crappy computer chair, with my DFGT mounted on a desk with the tele 1 foot infront.
It doesnt hinder me though, im still pretty quick :D

Sharp televisions are some of the most popular and most expensive here in Japan. The Aquos series are very nice.

Yeah, being fast normally doesn't have much to do with your equipment when it comes to sim racing. Some of us like to get more elaborate and spend more money just to increase the immersion and enjoyment of sum racing. For me it's a hobby like any other one, I like to personalize my experience to what suits me best.

Yeah, if i had the space i would make a setup like some of these, i have the money just no room, its frustrating

Edit: how much will the seat and the rigging cost?

That's a dlp the bezels are generally small. Wouldn't be ideal for triples due to the poor brightness off angle.

Off angle with DLP is not as bad as with LCD plus being this close with the angle required I don't believe you'd notice it much, if any. The horizontal viewing angle of the TV is between 120° and 140° (60° to 70° on each side of center). It would be interesting to see... anyone have two of these I could borrow? 💡

Just a suggestion, with the television that high up, you might want to consider a small platform for the Playseat just to raise it up about 6" or so. You will be surprised how much more immersive it feels when you are eye level vs looking up.

I would build a platform but I will just work with what I have now. If I do, I will have to build a platform that's easy to move around and doesn't damage my floor.

There are so many nice man caves here, i'm jealous. I can't pick one I like best. Thumbs up for all then 👍 👍

You might have a ventilation problem. The only thing I can think of is where ever your TV set is placed it must get pretty hot and not enough air circulation.

Nope, it was on table top stand with plenty of air flow. Mine was an incandescent lamp. Nonetheless, my personal experiences and those of others is a pretty good indication why DLP is not a dominant display technology for home viewing. The obvious exception is front firing projection.

It is still a good "bang for the buck" option for this who are willing to risk it. It's a technology that I cannot trust. If your DLP display has not failed you, KUDOS to you. It's too fragile IMO.

Hi blade and neoagent,

What did you do to mount your pedals on the Playseat GT? I just received my GT today and removed the pedal bar/plate temporarily because I had the pedals in the rally position. Did you hard mount it in any way or use anything to stabilize the pedals? How is the angle? I didn't like the way it felt when I set them on there after putting it together.

mcfizzle, I hard mounted mine using 2, 6MM screws. The angle is adjustable.

Do you have the new mounting plate? With the old mounting plate I had to use three cable ties to stabilize the top.

Can the adjustable plate be ordered? I have the Takuma Sato(not sure if that's his name) GT Playseat. Like the older models the plate is not adjustable on mine. Thanks for the reply and picture, I may have to investigate more into the plate and email them if adjustable plates are not listed on the site.

Not sure if it can be ordered right now but I remember reading some place that it would be available, although I think the price was kind of steep (IIRC around $150.00). Here's a pic of the new plate:

I did have my pedals mounted to one of the older style plates for a while. I just slide the bottom of the pedals into the base of the old plate and then used three cable ties (one on each side and one in the middle) to stabilize the top. Not as nice as the new plate but it did work.

That looks so much nicer than the stationary plate. Thanks for your help, $150 is way too much, especially since I paid $300. I will email them and see what they say though. One last question, were you able to mount in the rally position? It doesn't seem like it would work but I only had one hour to assemble it and get a few laps in. Thanks again.👍

I never tried mounting it in the rally position with the old style plate.

I'll mess with it this weekend and post what I find. I don't see it working or being practical though. I'll also post pictures but not until I get the shifter mount.

Here is my set up guys, let me explain. The X button is for the gas or more formal the accelerator. The square button is to brake, R2 and L2 are upshift and downshift while the analog stick is to move the car. Not sure what you guys have, but my unit is compact :sly:.
