Current state of my rig:

New wheel is scheduled to be ready for pickup today. Also need to find a way to get the wheel a bit farther away from me whilst also placing it a bit higher. Sadly, my PlaySeat can only place it higher if I place it near my chest...any ideas? :/

I might get away with it if I place the slider is far away as possible. However, I seriously doubt it. I'm just too big for the standard PlaySeat, I guess.

love the BMW, very solid looking rig and nice blue

Thanks! It's made with 2x3x1/8" steel tubing. Very solid, even though it is just that single spine. I may move the shifter around a bit, it blocks the seat from going forward too much, and limits it for short people who come over. It works for me and my wife, so there is no real rush. The blue is a little lighter than my car, but I wasn't going to spend $300 to paint it! LOL!

Just thinking: couldn't I cut the bar for the wheel in half (around ~15-20cm above the ground) and put a new metal bar in between? So that I can screw the new bar to the bottom and top one, maybe 4 screws per side. That shouldn't hurt it's rigidity too much, uh?

Thanks for the reply latte :)
Wife shot down projectors ;(
She ordered a bulb which mitsu said they will fully refund if i have any issues with it. The sales rep says the bulb will fix the stuck pixels ( bull ) but said if it doesnt they will send the mirror chip for cheap, also fully refundable.

Grumpy....... was gearing up for a new tv.lol

Caz, you just have to get your wife into racing! I just received f1 2011 for christmas (from her parents) and she was more excited to race than I was. I think she has raced in it more than I have!

She has tried.
Funny enough, gt5 was xmas from her last year, and the wheel was a birthday gift from her last december too ;)

Simple but cheap. The chair's from Ikea and was about £40. It's actually really comfortable and gives a nice seating position. Logitech X540 speakers, but I need some stands for the 2 rear ones. The base is an unused kitchen cabinet with a nice hole cut out of it. :D

Again, move closer, immersion is better that way. :)

I think in a way I actually enjoy seeing the low-budget setups just as much or more than I do the big expensive rigs. You normally get to see more ingenuity with the cheap rigs.

This is the setup that beats everyone around the world and must be worshiped .

Here is a quick pic of my setup. It's an Obutto cockpit with Logitech G27 and 24" LED TV. One of these days I need to reverse mount my pedals.

Here is mine... I stole the idea from the PVC rig posted here and the plans that go with it. I still have to finish the wire management but it is working for the time being.

Tenzo R seat, G27, PVC custom cockpit, 73 in Mitsubishi 1080p DLP in the media room...

Wow thats an amazing setup you got there Carson :drool:.

Thanks. Lot's of work still to do. But it at a usable stage. Bass shakers will be integrated. The Rig will be painted and some carbon fibre added. Some other features like a cup holder in the right armrest. And a Mobile phone holder lol

👍 Nice .........Considering triple screens or 3D myself

I have the 3D on my Mitsubishi. While it is neat. It is purely novelty.

I haven't gotten to use trips. However a buddy I race with just got his set up. Constantly finding things that help his racing with the Trips.

So if you are a serious racer and speed and lap times are your thing. Trips would be idea.

If your a casual player and have people over trying the game out often. 3D be fun to have for showing off. As well many movies out in 3D too. So it's useful outside gaming.

However I've prob used the 3D only a handful of times last year.

Tried GT5 recently. See if Spec 2.0 did anything for it. It's still meh. I thought Black Ops in 3D was actually better. Kids animated movies are AMAZING.

When you get all four people in the room leaning back to avoid things coming out at them. You feel good about 3D. LoL

Hopefully that lil mini review from my perspective is of some help.

I got LG 55inch 3D tv. Every 3D game has been a disappoinment. GT5 with it's low res graphics was the worst of them. I bought the tv only for GT5 because i thought that 3D was gonna take sim racing to the next level...So do yourself a favor and forgetaboutit!

Thanks! I will get it but purely for the living room. As you say movie's with the Family. I've read somewhere on here it's a bit of a disappointment on PS3. Most likely have a go on it with Gt5 to try it. 42/47" would take up the whole wall in the game room lol. Triple screens and triple PS3's is definitely the way I'd like to go ........looks amazing......It's just making the mental leap to part with the cash for two more PS3's and three monitors lol and two more game's. I plan to start fitting the rig with tactile, so once I've that finished I might have prepared myself for trips
