Here's my little setup that I just finished putting together in the study. Looking to upgrade the wheel to a G27 in the coming weeks and building a mount for the shifter. Oh and need to sort out that mess of cables

^ I dig it!!!

Here's my setup (which I posted test ask'n some Q's but figure this is a good home as well )

To anyone debating, a good wheel and cockpit setup make racing so much more enjoyable, not only that my times are dropping dramatically....I'm talking seconds not fractions!

Buttkicker will be here monday :D

Sweet setup...with my playseat super hard to reverse mount the pedals....tear

Hey scans the same guy that makes the fanatec adapter plates for the shifter is also in the works of making a mount to reverse the pedals. Not sure what it will be like so who knows if it will work for your pedals but if it's just some sort of plate it should work. Guess we will see whenever he gets it made up.

GORDATA2NICE, I think your buttkicker may be mounted upside down. I don't know if it hurts it but I thought I would let you know.

That would be AWESOME!!!! I would def buy it......he's a good dude to boot!

I actually bought that Fanatec plate mounting thing for the shifter...but Sold my Carrera setup for the G27 before I even got it.....LOL, so now I just have that hang'n around.

^Nice start, haha, The Apiga is an unbelievably cool design! I mean, what cockpit can you fold up so thin?! Definitely not mine!

Upgraded to a G27 the other day. The frame does not have any place for the shifter and I was not willing to pay the amount asked by Hyperdrive for the small extension piece which is designed for this purpose. Instead I rummaged around my garage and came up with some old photography equipment that fit the job perfectly. Two Manfrotto superclamps, a galvanized iron pipe, two U bolts, a piece of wood and hey presto.

Also due to the monitor stand being welded on to the frame (custom job), the G27 pedals base is too long. The DFGT was the perfect size for the frame. I had to "reduce" the length of the G27, which is now perfect for the frame.

Also picked up some Logitech G35 surround sound headphones so that my wife & child are not driven insane by the constant engine sounds emitting from the study.

Now all that is left is some wire management and I will be finished as far as the rig is concerned. Next thing to do is upgrade the PC.

Here is what I started with (Logitech Driving Force GT wheel and pedals mounted on a wheelstandpro):

I switched to a Fanatec Porsche GT2 wheel and Fanatec Clubsport pedals, which I was able to mount to my wheelstandpro with some modifying:

I cut a piece of particle board to fit the Clubsport pedals. I then mounted the particle board to the bottom of the wheelstandpro using the backet that I got with the wheelstandpro for the Xbox 360 wheel & pedals. I then inserted a couple of screws to hold down the pedals. Its an awesome set up.

^ Syntax, Great Cockpit but is the shifter comfortable at such an angle?

It does look a bit odd, but it's actually quite comfortable for me. It is adjustable however. I can lock the end of the pole up to the back of the seat if I need it to be a more parallel and by undoing the ubolts, it can be pulled closer or move it further away to suite the user.

Syntax - do the G35 headphones actually work with PS3?

Unfortunately I don't know. I am ashamed to admit I don't actually have a PS3 at the moment.

I don't really have a Man Cave ........ but thankfully I have a big kitchen kitted out with the kitchen, an 8 seater dining table, a chair & 3 seater couch, 32" tv and home cinema system ...... so my wife's "burd cage" contains all she'll ever need in a single room!!! With that in mind, I hajacked the front room for my gaming!!! I didn't want a permanent feature, so made my rig into three components.

The base is a piece of plywood with batons screwed to it.
The wheel and pedals are fitted to an Ikea table with MDF sides.
The chair is another Ikea purchase!!

It takes less that a minute to assemble or take apart and all locks into place so gives me the same driving position every time. Looks rough but works well!!!

The base - Plywood with batons to locate table and chair

@Raudi:

Nice video. :)

A question (this is not a criticism); the left screen seems to suffer from a sort of distorted "fish-eye" effect which is particularly noticeable when you pass other cars. The right also seems to suffer from this although not as much. Do you need to tweak any settings or does it all look okay from a driver's POV?

I'm just curious as I'm not entirely convinced by multi-screen setups. That said, nice job and thanks for the vid. :)

Keep in mind that viewing perspective is very sensitive to your seating position and FOV and since I shot the video at an angle and farthar back than my seating position - it distorts it somewhat.

I'm still tweaking the settings and have upped the Screen Curvature from 35 > 70 since I shot that video.

There is an excellent discussion on this in the GT5 forum:

Also will be upgrading to Fanatec wheel/clubsport peddles very soon! I also took my PS3 out of the living room and put it in my man cave. So I am running GT5 on this setup as well. Just started with that sim in fact. I primarily use my PC for sim racing.

I posted my pics in another thread but I thought I would put them here to as a before and after. :)

Always thinking of what to do next. Triple monitor setup is awesome but it's just not in the cards for me right now. I'm thinking a Frex seq shifter might be next. It's reasonably priced.

I would also like to spruce up the pod some to. Cup holder, stickers ect...

I would like to see what your Gaming Setup for Gran Turismo 5 looks like.

Simply post pictures/videos of your Gaming Setup (steering wheel/controller setup, TV/home theater system for GT5, PlaySeat, etc.)

The more pictures/videos the better. :)

Unfortunately I don't know how to upload images from my camera to GTPlanet, so I can't contribute at this time. :grumpy:

Thanks in advance for sharing/posting. :)
