What wheel did you have before it? If it was the G25/27 how would you compare the FFB with it? And does the T500 have that super sensitive brake issue like the G25?
Ill use this as a chance to give my review so far after about 10 races in various cars.
I had a DFGT hooked up to the BER chassis before getting the T500. A few years ago I had a G25, and a year later, a G27, and sold both at one point or another to friends, or craigslist. (most of the time, I'd get pissed off when I heard about a delay for GT5's release, and sell the wheel. haha.
To answer your questions, the pedals feel great. The base is so solid and sturdy, I didn't even have to secure it to my Bob Earl chassis. I put 2 plastic tubes wrapped with duct tape, and taped to the foot plate of my chassis. There are 2 tubes now, one at the top, and bottom to prevent it from sliding up or down on the plate, and its even angled off the foot plate of my Bob earl chassis, about 10 degrees less, in order to compensate for the steeper angle of pedals. THE BRAKE pedal feels awesome. Call me out of the loop, but I have no idea why people add the mod to the brake pedal. It was fine the way it was. The nice part about the pedal for me is I can rest my left foot on the pedal itself (moderately), and it wont show any brake on the meter in the display hud. I rest the other half of my left leg against a little floor shelf so I dont strain holding my legs in an F1 style floor position.
The brake has hard resistance till about half way or so, then you hit the higher resistance part, and that requires a good amount of force relative to the other pedals of Logitech. It's really nice, because you can get it almost depressed to bottom, and you can feel out brake threshold better, and prevent your car from locking up. For me this is necessary because I never like to use ABS, and if so, its at 1.
So the pedals are outstanding, and easily outshine the G25/G27 pedals for me. (although I was generally happy and very comfortable using all the logitech wheels).
The wheel itself is great. Most people know what its setup is like, so I'll just give my opinion on the Force Feedback and be done:
The Feedback i get from this is not like any Logitech wheel. The actually programming sent to the wheel from GT5 itself isnt much different. you'll still fell rumble strips, and slippage. -BUT, the notch sensation when you turn is GONE. it feels like I'm driving power steering in a real car. Sometimes you can feel just a hint of notch gears, but overall, its superbly smooth, and its powerful when the sh#$ hits the fan, and you begin to loose control.
I feel alot of new sensations that I dont get with the Logitech wheels when I am driving, so I think its accurate enough to say the core driving experience of the feedback and wheel together are in a league of their own, and I find it to be well worth the money.
The only nit picks I have so far are of course the lack of shifter, (which I am dealing just fine with), and I noticed the center is like 1 degree off to the left. Its not noticable while racing, but i can tell its there. -No biggie. My DFGT was off by 5 or more degrees before it finally took a SH$% last week.
Anyone is San Diego, or near, there is one more T500 at San Marcos FRY's electronics.
Cheers!
