Thats what i want mine to look like!!
Great job!

Thanks, that is how I feel about it too, lol. If you are planning on making one, or something like it, my advice is to just get the parts and start building. I spent a long time checking out rigs and planning but the actual building only took me 2-3 days worth of work. I should have done it much earlier.

Fancy powder coated aluminum shifter bracket? Pshaw. All you need is a 40lb battery (dead), some spacers (ripped cardboard) and half a roll of masking tape (maybe a bit more). I won't spoil the wonders of your imagination by showing the rest of the rig.

Is it just me or is that in a truck-ish position?

Truck-ish is a good explanation. I needed the seat to be ~24" off the ground so that I was eye level with the center of the TV. The pedals in this picture are lower than I actually have them set now. It is a little high, but once you start racing you'd never know

I don't have room for a fancy set-up, so it forced me to design my own that could disappear or be put away (which keeps the wife happy).

See pictures here - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Solid-Oak-Coff...item2a0db7b86b

You can use it sitting on the sofa and once you're done, you can use it as a coffee table.

Do you have any pics of the aforementioned rig on your part that ytou can post?

Here's my setup, I use to have a Playseat Evo, but the seat was so damn uncomfortable, now I'm using an advanced ergonomics leather office chair...did a 6hr stint last night without any back pains :)

My setup is a Sony Bravia 40" FHD, G25, Logitech wireless keyboard, Sennheiser earphones (to keep the wife happy) and an old 60gb (upped to 250gb) phatty with a huge fan to keep him cool

Finally got a T500 RS today!
ITs sweet. Didnt even have to put anything on the pedals. -just a stopper at the base, and it sits nicely on the Bob Earl Racing Chassis!

What wheel did you have before it? If it was the G25/27 how would you compare the FFB with it? And does the T500 have that super sensitive brake issue like the G25?

Here is mine it still needs paint the pedals are reverse mounted. Still going to add a bracket to hold a sixaxis to have extra buttons. Only cost me about $80 in supplies minus the tools I had. I recommend anyone who has the resources to build your own DO IT! From the looks of all thats on the market mine is way better tailored to me than those would be and I was able to make it super strong with 0 flex. Its nice too being able to pick your own seat rather than some cheap knock off racing seat. My seat will be upgraded when I find a good one from the junkyard right now its just a spare i had laying around from my 240sx

Ill use this as a chance to give my review so far after about 10 races in various cars.
I had a DFGT hooked up to the BER chassis before getting the T500. A few years ago I had a G25, and a year later, a G27, and sold both at one point or another to friends, or craigslist. (most of the time, I'd get pissed off when I heard about a delay for GT5's release, and sell the wheel. haha.

To answer your questions, the pedals feel great. The base is so solid and sturdy, I didn't even have to secure it to my Bob Earl chassis. I put 2 plastic tubes wrapped with duct tape, and taped to the foot plate of my chassis. There are 2 tubes now, one at the top, and bottom to prevent it from sliding up or down on the plate, and its even angled off the foot plate of my Bob earl chassis, about 10 degrees less, in order to compensate for the steeper angle of pedals. THE BRAKE pedal feels awesome. Call me out of the loop, but I have no idea why people add the mod to the brake pedal. It was fine the way it was. The nice part about the pedal for me is I can rest my left foot on the pedal itself (moderately), and it wont show any brake on the meter in the display hud. I rest the other half of my left leg against a little floor shelf so I dont strain holding my legs in an F1 style floor position.
The brake has hard resistance till about half way or so, then you hit the higher resistance part, and that requires a good amount of force relative to the other pedals of Logitech. It's really nice, because you can get it almost depressed to bottom, and you can feel out brake threshold better, and prevent your car from locking up. For me this is necessary because I never like to use ABS, and if so, its at 1.
So the pedals are outstanding, and easily outshine the G25/G27 pedals for me. (although I was generally happy and very comfortable using all the logitech wheels).

The wheel itself is great. Most people know what its setup is like, so I'll just give my opinion on the Force Feedback and be done:
The Feedback i get from this is not like any Logitech wheel. The actually programming sent to the wheel from GT5 itself isnt much different. you'll still fell rumble strips, and slippage. -BUT, the notch sensation when you turn is GONE. it feels like I'm driving power steering in a real car. Sometimes you can feel just a hint of notch gears, but overall, its superbly smooth, and its powerful when the sh#$ hits the fan, and you begin to loose control.
I feel alot of new sensations that I dont get with the Logitech wheels when I am driving, so I think its accurate enough to say the core driving experience of the feedback and wheel together are in a league of their own, and I find it to be well worth the money.
The only nit picks I have so far are of course the lack of shifter, (which I am dealing just fine with), and I noticed the center is like 1 degree off to the left. Its not noticable while racing, but i can tell its there. -No biggie. My DFGT was off by 5 or more degrees before it finally took a SH$% last week.

Anyone is San Diego, or near, there is one more T500 at San Marcos FRY's electronics.

Cheers!

Good to know that the quality of the wheel makes up for the price. The only other thing that really bugs me is the fact that you can't use the wheel with any other system.

Did you update to the latest firmware, and I mean "one degrees" could easily be your imagination, however is the center in the actual game perfect, are you just talking about the calibration? My DFGT is perfectly centered when in game, but the calibration can sometimes throw it off a bit in the deadzone. So if it really IS off (one degrees though? sounds maybe like your imagination?) there's either firmware or other recalibrations that you can do. Check the dedicated thread for more info.

Man cave finally complete after picking up a black GT2 frame from Gamepod this afternoon! Bolted on the Corbeau Forza seat I'd bought as an office chair, very happy as I can finally get back to some racing!

Klipsch didn't make those speakers, it was Mirage, based off their OmniSats I believe. But that setup looks beautiful mate, really clean and well layed out, I dig it.!

Revised - Thanks!!!

It looks even better with my triple monitor setup, but unfortunately KAZ didn't include multi monitor support in GT5 and I was tired of looking at 2 blank screens! LOL

Here is my set up. I have a Fanatec GT2 wheel, Fanatec Clubsport pedals, both of which are mounted on a wheelstandpro that I originally used for my Logitech Driving Force GT wheel and pedals. The TV is a Vizio 32" 1080p LCD set.

sweet. i love the looks of the stand with the gt2. but you need to swap the tv with the tank or play on that monitor. too high up there man.

Fair point. I have had the TV set up there on my chest of drawers for over a year, and have grown accustomed to it. I had never considered swapping the fish tank with the TV, but that is an option. Thanks! :)

If you're going for the sim thing that's a great idea, although I have my TV a little higher than wheel level... but I'm a tall guy and prefer an elevated viewing position, so it is what it is.

Zero, what size tank is that with the Oscars in it? I used to have 2 in a 20 gallon. Needless to say they outgrew it quite quick; however, they were by far the coolest fish I have ever owned. Feeding fish - fish is just too cool!

That is my dream tank. I wanted one ever since I was six years old. It is a 135 gallon tank. It has two Oscars, one Jack Dempsey, one Black Convict, one Pink Convict, one big Bala Shark, two big Tinfoil Barbs and a big Plecostomus.

The tank on my desk is a 20 gallon planted tank. I keep it sparsely stocked in order to avoid algae growth. I have a couple of cardinal tetras and white clouds in there.
