I just realized that I forgot something about the rules!

If you get under the capped time during the qualifying session, you will keep the position that the game granted you as we cannot change the grid order manually. However, in order to be fair, you will get penalties as if it was a race lap, it will be added to your time at the end of the first race. The second race will not be affected.

See you on track :)👍

How are you running the qualifying?

There are two ways one being open where everyone races together and you can drop in and out, which is also more relaxed in format, but people have to be respectful with space and drafting, and one which is more of a set qualification period, you all run together but do not see each other and then drop into the race automatically...

The open style allows you to drop out and it nullifies your time! It also allows late arrives to continue etc.

The standard qualification session is also prone to disconnections, I've noticed. We've abandoned it in the other club I run in due to that -- almost every time we'd use it, it would hang in a black screen before the race and somebody would end up getting disco'ed. Might just be down to the quirks of certain people's internet, maybe it'll work just fine this time...

If it does end up being problematic, the open qualy system is a very good alternative. Just reset the track to negate practice times, then run 10 minutes or so and park up when you're happy with your lap.

Track can be reset either by changing to another track and back again, or through another method which escapes me but doesn't involve changing tracks. @hobbsy do you remember how Brandon was doing it? Something like changing the tyre regs, I think?

Besides the upsides of being able to drop out and negate a too-fast lap, and allowing late runners to join, there is a downside: Once someone has accidently posted a lap under the cap, it's impossible to tell (apart from checking the timing screen) if others are qualifying with a lap between that one and the cap...

I blame bronies.

In all seriousness, PD for some reason really hates my internet provider....though it doesn't help I have the worst reception in the house and that my parents stream movies all day long so the internet gets hogged up. Oh well, was fun, just got frustrated in the corners, couldn't get ya'lls speed in them.

Getting the best corner speed in FWD comes down to tune, throttle control, and racing line

That was a lot of fun, we had some great (and tough) battles! Thanks to the participants :)👍

We were only 5 but managed to have network issues :grumpy: (poor Booyaka). The first race started almost one hour late, my deepest apologies for that!

What I retain from this test round:
  • I will open club rooms instead of event rooms, as I can't change the race settings in an event lobby. I will still create club events though, for tracking the attendance.
  • The room ownership will be fixed. I have a very high network bandwidth, being connected to the fiber optic through an ethernet cable, hopefully it will be enough to host the race with a high quality.
  • I am aware that people may be a few minutes late, thus there will be a 15 minutes practice, then a 5 minutes qualifying session. I will not wait as much as yesterday though, the qualifying session will start at 10.15pm GMT. If you're too late and miss the first race, you can still join the second race.
  • The qualifying session will not be "open" as I need to check that every driver is beyond the capped time. I'll stick to the standard procedure.
Just a little clarification of the rules too:
  • Contact may happen, however you must avoid it.
  • This is the responsibility of the driver who overtakes to do it clean: don't lean on the other car.
  • However if you're overtaken in a turn - meaning that the other car is in front of you at the corner exit, you must yield the corner.

That was my first parity race and I enjoyed it a lot! We were only 5 on track and it was so fun, I can't imagine what it can be with twice as many drivers. I hope to see more people next time!

Next round will be at Brands Hatch Indy, on next Friday, April 24th 10pm GMT.

Capped time and Surface Water will be unveiled shortly (maybe we'll have some rain? It's England, right? ;)).

Currently going into summer and it has been dry and sunny for nearly a week where I live. (Live an hour away from Brands)

It seems that we're lucky, no rain is expected at Brands Hatch on Friday.
Surface Water: 0%
Weather: 10% (partly cloudy)
Capped time: 0'49.000

The event has been created, please sign in so I can have an idea of the number of participants

All looks good for me and the Team to be on track come Friday. Sponsorship deals are in place, and the team have already begun setting the car up for the track.

I shall be joining them mid-week in Kent for some testing ahead of Free Practice and Qualifying. The circuit will be available to all for as long as we need it, as I have a spare set of keys ;)

Are we guaranteed no rain or can that change as the forecast changes?

Well it's still really sunny here in the UK... forecast for Friday not so good though ;)

The weather reports are always wrong over here though ;)

I'll always fix the weather depending on the forecast on the saturday or sunday of the week before the event, and I won't change it even if the forecast does change during the week.

So you can practice with the weather settings of the club event as soon as it's created.

My car is dialled in, although I keep adding weight and dropping power to ensure I stay under the cap, and I keep getting faster

Go figure!

Still all should be good come race day. See you there 👍
