Thinking about "GT5: Prologue," I am not very educated on the 512BB. I know I've read it's a Ferrari with a horizontally-opposed engine. I know what it looks like having played "OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast." I know a lot of you will likely love racing the F40 for you Ferrari fans, but (and I'm not knocking the car, just asking) what makes the 512BB so appealing to you all?
For me, it's more than just appealing. Most games choose to look over this & similar models merely because it isn't well known to most folks. Polyphony, on the other hand, is known for bringing these types of cars into popularity amongst the general population. It's the choice of PD doing more than just choosing the best models from Ferrari, that I find appealing.

I read some of the posts from Page 139 of this thread about suggestive themes and of "automobile porn." All I can say is... some of you need to get a life. Do we have to suggest car pictures as automobile porn? Goes to show what's wrong with this world... okay, moving on...

The 512 Berlinetta Boxer was one of the most contemporary designs of it's day, and had teenagers attentions suddenly divided between the wild Countach, and the sleek sexy "Boxer". It was ahead of it's time stylistically, and as someone else said, "Paved the way for future Ferrari V8's". It was an icon............................................. and freaking gorgeous, to boot.

;)

I don't know if its been discussed in the 140 pages of this thread, but has anyone seen any images of the new High Speed Ring coming in the US GT5P? I am also assuming since drift trials are back in this version, thats probably the main reason why they decided to include that track, being that its such a wide track its great for high speed drifts.

Unless I missed something, there haven't been any pictures yet, though I'm interested if if PD makes any atmosphere changes to make the track look more appealing...but even if they don't, I love the High speed ring as a track....one of my personal favorite overall test tracks.

that's a good call there mate, I noticed that it changed but didn't think about the GT connection.

My theory seems to have just gained a little more weight as EuroGamer now has a trailer titler "GT5P TV Slot". It has the standard PS3 ad ending and is obviously of good enough quality.

Fingers crossed to see it this Sunday!

Although the fact that there are back to back races (the second being 23/03) means that any airing might wait til then so that it stays in peoples heads for the week up to launch.

I'd rather see High Speed Ring return with the high walls around the first two corners, it just gave you a more closed in feeling than the low barriers in GT4 and if you were driving near them increased the feeling of speed.

Thanks to all of you for your input about my 512BB question. I think it's a very nice car. I'm sure black would be a popular color to get around the two-tone look. I'm not usually excited about black, but if you don't like the two-tone design, then all black wouldn't be a bad choice. Seeing this car in "OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast," the OutRun version looks pretty ugly to me. Three of my all-time favorite Ferraris before the 1990s are the Testarossa, 250 GTO, and the 288 GTO. Oh, and let's not forget the Dino 246 GTS. I'm sure the 512 BB would be a nice car to choose in the Boxer Cup if it ends up being one of the racing series in the final release of GT5. So if you don't like racing boxer-engine Subarus, at least you know you have that 512 BB.

[UPDATE] Updated because I mismatched the names of the aforementioned Ferraris in this post.

I'm actually looking forward more to driving the car and listening to it than looking at it, although it does look quite nice. 1970's Ferrari 12 cylinder engines have a very unique sound unrivaled by other 12 cylinders, especially the Ferrari Flat 12s. They are melodious.

Yeah, here's to hoping that PD can hit the right notes...

So far all of the new cars in the series sound great. The 599 and F430 sound excellent. So I'm not worried too much. But if it sounds like a lawnmower I'll try not to murder them too painfully. :sly:

You have pursuaded me to buy the disc version of the game instead of downloading. I was dredding having to watch the light on my modem blink away alll day anyway so maybe its a good thing. I reserved a copy but there is probably no need to. The guy in the shop said that there was a sony rep there the week before and that he said there will be a limited stock, dont know how true this is but he also thought there wont be a PSN version, although that was probably only so as I'd buy it off him.

Just remember... this is Prologue. So if they don't truly get the sounds completely right, then you can at least hope they get it right when GT5 comes out. I'm pretty sure GT5 will be as much of a ground-up deal as the transistion from GT3 to GT4.

As for the High-Speed Ring, I'm glad this track has returned since GT4 after being AWOL in GT3. I like the style in GT4 for this track with the bridge and the water. It's much the same way I liked the downtown area of Grand Valley Speedway, even if they seemed out of place for a track like this. I still think Grand Valley (GT's signature race track) in GT4 was the loveliest version of this track in all the GT's I've played. I'm a bit curious as to how this track would look in GT5P. I'm probably thinking too far ahead, but I'd like to imagine racing this track at sunset or twilight. This is especially if we actually get transistions in time. I'd even welcome the challenge of weather, though I have my doubts about racing high-speed tracks in wet conditions.

I am getting the disc version, but no preorders for me. With GT4 I just walked into Best Buy and picked it up from the five shelves full that they had. I intend to do the same with this. I am suspecting that a lack of die hards in the Kentucky area will make this easy.

I'm just looking forward to not seeing a bunch of Japanese text on my Friend's List.

I'm with you on that. Though it wouldn't be the first time I've done it, It would be nice to see weather transitions on a GT Game. As for racing in the wet, I must say its fun. At first I hated it, but as I've actually grown to love it. I'll even put in GT3 and go out on SS Route 5 in the Toyota GT-ONE just because I love it. You might not like it now since its indeed different, but take it from me, its awesome once you get the hang of it:)

True i didnt need too but it was only a euro. And he said it would be 39.99 euro, just for anyone who might want to know.

Yeah I agree. The sounds are hands down, twice as better as any of the games in the series....but the only thing I feel that they are missing is the extra "umph" or "load" that the engine sounds put out....and I know it's mainly because they weren't necessarily dynoed when recording the sounds...but yeah PD is doing a pretty good job sound-wise for the most part.

 you don't ever see this car in video games because it always gets written off by the 512TR

We'll probably see a whole bunch of classic Ferraris, including the Testarossas, in the full game. I'm glad they added a couple of classics for Prologue though, they're going to be loads of fun to race with.

Grand Prix awesome sound clip, but does anyone think the 512BB will sound that good in game? I really really hope so but sadly GT has always missed the engine under load sound. Prove me wrong PD! GT5P is a huge improvement over past incarnations so heres hoping.

Well I'm not expecting it to be exact, as it is Prologue. But it should be as close as the Corvette or Mustang or F430 were. I hope. If it does sound like the sound clip it would be the only car I'd drive in the game!

Does anyone know if the Viper SRT-10 is the newest version? The list did not include a year model for the car.

I have not heard what year SRT-10 it is. We probably won't find out until we see some sort of video of it or when the games comes out. I wonder if PD will include the old 1992-1995 Viper RT/10 (much nicer than the SRT-10 IMO) in the full GT5 game.

If it sounds half as good as that it'l be the only car I drive! But of course I would have to drive the F40 quite a bit too, regardless of how it sounds.

Well, Nissan Tuner, the 512 BB was in the most recent OutRun games. The ironic thing for me is... The 512 TR gets neglected unless it was the first Need for Speed game. But you're right. Something like this shows that the people at PD know their cars even if most of their critics say they focus too much on Skylines and kei cars. Here is a seperate question I'd like to ask to all of you:

If Ferrari was NOT included in GT5P or even GT5, do you think GT5P and GT5 would still be as anticipated with the abscence of Ferrari? How would you rate this most recent maturity of PD and Gran Turismo, considering the acquistion of Ferrari as well as the Top Gear Test Track?

Seeing as thier is no such thing as a 90s SRT-10, its safe to assume its the latest verson.
