Broadcast details confirmed for GT Festival at Phillip Island

SRO Motorsports Australia is pleased to confirm an outstanding broadcast package for the inaugural GT Festival at Phillip Island on August 25-27

The event, featuring both the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS and Monochrome GT4 Australia Series, can be viewed for free, anywhere in the world, on the GT World YouTube channel.

Also, for Australian viewers, all races will be broadcast live via Foxtel and Kayo.

And for fans keen to get even closer to the action, all three days at Phillip Island will feature free entry.

The broadcast will start at 2:15pm on Saturday, concluding the first of two one-hour races for Fanatec GT Australia.

Fans watching via the GT World YouTube page will get extra content with the podium presentation and post-race interviews.

On Sunday, the broadcast will start at 11am.

The broadcast, to be delivered by motorsport production house AVE, will feature a gun commentary team, headed by Australia’s star sportscar caller Richard Craill, alongside five-times Bathurst 1000 winner and regular Supercars TV pundit Garth Tander.

Supporting Craill and Tander will be Cameron van den Dungen and Jonathan Simon.

I guess I'll just have to go for a 1 hour drive on cruise control and see it all in 3D.

I see that as an announcement that the SRO are replacing the Shannon's Speed Series as Promoter.

To be lead by the local GT3 & GT4 categories, it remains to be seen how many, if not all, categories under the Shannons umbrella make it across the off season.

Damn! Those times make Friday a very long day at the track.
 
Saturday as well. I want to go, but geez. Sunday would be ideal, but I want to watch GT3 as well.

Really don’t feel like driving back home after all that. My niece lives 15 minutes from the track, brother-in-law 20 minutes from the track, but I’m not staying overnight in Sydney. Even though it’ll take me under two hours to get home.

I've only ever spent longer than 12 hours at a racetrack once, and that was as a Flag Marshall for a 24hr race at Winton.

I would go on the Saturday purely for the GT3 category, but that is a very long day no matter how keen for the attraction.

I notice that the Rouse cars specify a 10' diff centre, an upgrade over the 9' all the Australian spec cars used.
The 9' had an unbreakable reputation locally... until Andrew Miedecke broke a race-spec housing in half in 1988.

Also, the Australian cars were allowed to upgrade from the 5-speed Getrag, to a Hollinger 6-speed from 1 January 1991.
 
Still, "small" power figures compared to the DJR cars. ;)

On a different production series. Cant wait to see this. Been following as much as I can. Will be a beast when on track.

Yes, my thoughts exactly.

As I began reading about the project, it didn't take me long to wish for a DJR version at its peak, as a personal preference.

If anyone needs reminding, search for and watch Dick's lap in the 1992 Bathurst shoot-out.
That's a Group A Sierra wound as tight as you'll ever see.

So much potential and way too late to make a multi-class with GT4. Which TCR might have had better luck joining with GT4 in the Production car series post COVID.

Anyway, GT4 is looking to have a much better steady run.

The new Pug is a good example.

GRM was given the contract to build & develop the new Peugeot, but there hasn't been a lot of noise about it, positive or otherwise.
No sales. No word about them building another. Bugger all.

Don't be surprised to see TCR cars coming on the market for sale, or offers to lease or run.

Any major damage requiring a rebuild, could see an exit rather than an investment to repair.

I certainly wouldn't want to be left holding the goose that once promised to lay the golden egg.

This is really great and a total reversal of the trend being seen in GT3.

Could be more than a few using SMP as a test to iron out any bugs & blow the cobwebs of their rides in readiness for Bathurst.
Wishing them all a trouble-free weekend.

Now that Toyota/GR are stepping up their involvement with Supercars, let's hope some common sense prevails and a Supra GT4 satellite program on some level sees the light of day.
 
Seriously. Having the GR86 program flow from that to GT4 as not everyone will get a chance to go straight to Supercars. Toyota should extend that four cars on a grid to GT4 as well.

Well, that’s telling for Lachi Mineeff to say he’s got an Audi TCR for sale and loving it in GT4.
Racing was good early on, but the pit stop stationary time seems like it needs a bit of adjusting.
