Project C.A.R.S is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios, the same development team behind "Shift 2". But don't let that put you off because this is being designed to be a hardcore sim. If you have decent PC you can play this game right now as part of a beta plan that see's the game updated with content frequently. I just thought I would start a thread for people to discuss the game and for people who haven't heard of the game yet and as you can see its looking promising to say the least. The game is also in development for consoles, although no details have been released and my theory is that it will be a launch game for next gen consoles.

Looks interesting. I have a pretty good PC for gaming, so I may look into this...but only if they have a nice variety of street cars. I'm not crazy about super fast race cars...I never race above R3 in Forza.

Honestly Tee its stunning, there are some great cars to drive and the graphics are beyond anything I have ever seen.

^ what Wiggs said.

The only PC game remotely similar to GT/Forza is Live for Speed...considering it's a small, limited, "alpha" version of a game that has crawled through development for nearly a decade without a lot to show for it, it's done very well for itself and people still play it. I don't know why we can't get more roadcar sims.

Or roadcar sims on open roads. Real roadcars that act like real cars while driving on roads? What a concept!! 💡

Now that raises an eyebrow...

Thanks for sharing this, hennessey86, I'm definitely paying much closer attention. :) 👍 The car list still looks awfully twitchy and race-y though...reading about how it works, I guess I could pitch in and suggest some production cars (?). As it is, a Caterham would be a fine drive.

I just got a new Windows 7 laptop, too. Looks like it squeaks by the minimum spec.

Project cars will be available for consoles???

Yes Ronin, but no information has been given on which consoles this game will be available on. My best guess would be the 720 and PS4 because these graphics deserve to stay the way they are and not be destroyed to run on this gens consoles

Oh my, this game is really cool! There's also damage, pretty detailed too..

And check this out, how the driver handles the steering wheel!! (And while he is doing that, the car is moving a little bit too)

While I got your interest, check the trailer out. I see night racing!!! :D This game, really, it's going to ruin my social life

I don't think the PS3 and 360 can produce anything graphically close to these screens. I know graphics aren't everything but I agree with hennessey....this game is probably better suited for next gen consoles. Maybe the Wii U can handle it, but I don't see myself buying a Wii U.

I'm going to try this out. Just purchased a Team Member Tool Kit, it's downloading now. I hope it's worth it :)

Don't think so either, this can be one of those really cool xbox720 release games..

It looks stunning to say the least. Dunno, the current consoles would be pretty hard pressed to run the game at 720p/30fps and with much less AA, and they'd probably still not get there.

Project C.A.R.S. would be an excelent game to be released on current and next-gen consoles, much like NFS:Most Wanted, back in the day. Frankly, I'd love to play that game and I'd want it to look as awesome as it can. Building a gaming rig would be possible somewhen next year, but I'd like to see what the next-gen consoles bring to the table first.

I played it for an hour, just WOW!! Very detailed!!! But I really suck, playing on a keyboard is pretty hard... So I thought, hey just connect the XB controller! Windows downloaded the driver when I connected it, however you can't use it. (I didn't know). You must have a wireless connection too. I don't have this. :( Connected my PS3 controller, downloaded a really nice driver (MotioninJoy Gamepad Tool). I setup the controller in the game and .

My pc is a little bit dated so I have my settings at medium and high (you can set it to ultra but that's a bit too much for my pc).

I'm going to play some more and make some screenshots :D

Edit: (Quality is lower than in-game, imageshack throws the quality down a bit)

That looks pretty good even on medium settings. Is there a nice selection of cars available right now Carlos?

Hmmmm yes and no. The cars in the game are pretty amazing, but there's only a few. 2 karts, Radicals, well let's say the epic race cars.. And I'm having trouble to control them, so imagin  This is way more trouble than an R3 car.. :scared:

If you don't mind me asking, Carlos, what system specs are you running pCars on?

Is this what you want to know? I'm not sure how to check all those things.

If you're having a hard time controlling them, that doesn't bode well for me. :nervous: I'm ok driving the lower and medium class cars in Forza...its the faster, twitchy cars I really don't enjoy. I imagine the learning curve is pretty steep but it will probably be more fun once you adjust to the feel of the game.

~System~

Why are you running the x86 version? Your RAM is being capped.

Yes! Twitchy is the correct word, these cars are very twitchy. Have you ever played NFS Shift 2? (I only played 2) It's a bit like that..

I'm running what? Help me here..

@Carlos, I haven't played a Need for Speed game since the PS2. I still may get this game...I've promised myself that I'll start driving more race cars to prepare myself for the R class races in the club championship.

That doesn't sound good...

But on the other hand, most of cars included so far are supposed to be rather twitchy.

Do you use TC with the R Class cars?
