Project C.A.R.S(new screens on page 2)

I usually don't need TCS for R3. R2 and R1 yes, but I probably haven't driven more than 30 minutes total in R2 and R1 cars.

Here's the thing with the R cars, especially R2 and R1:

Don't mess with the suspension set up and tire pressures unless you know what you're doing. And more importantly, play around with the gear ratios to suit the track. Now, the most significant adjustment: LSD. On these high powered twitchy R2 and R1 cars (they're very much like that IRL), you'd want to set the LSD as low as possible. I usually keep it between 5 and 15. 8 to 10's perfect though, the wheels don't spin as easily. Also, don't get overzealous with the throttle! Shift timing is crucial.

Cheers then!

I use the PS3 controller for it but I think a wheel is just everything you need for this game. It's not like Forza, these cars bite whenever you lose control!

Sir, FYI, high powered cars in Forza very much bite when you lose control, as long as you have all assists off, sim steering on and deadzones set in a way so as to replicate an actual wheel, throttle and brake.

I have seen shots of the game before, but not these ones. It does look jaw dropping. So these are actual gameplay shots and not some photo mode shots like Forza?

I just hope they don't **** us on the engine sounds and physics!!

Though if it only has race cars, I might pass. Who knows, will have to wait for reviews.

Gosh, if ONLY! I don't know why devs are so shy to venture into that territory.

I was actually hoping Horizon would have accomplished that.. but dang, they goofed it! :irked:
Yeah...I wrote that in April, huh. Horizon is absolutely what I was hoping for. But you know that already.

They MAY work on a next gen title but at the moment, it's set for release on the PC, X360 and PS3.

The PS3 and X360 can handle it, but probably not at the graphic fidelity and standards of PC. It'd be interesting to see if the console versions run at a locked 30 fps with no screen tear. And smooth 30 fps, no choppiness please thank you!

Race Pro with the frame rate locked at 30 FPS's? Why sure.

LOL

Looks wise, I am expecting the Xbox version to rival PGR4. It's not a shabby looking game in the slightest, and it does a great job conveying a good sense of speed. If the 360 version looks as good as PGR4, I doubt anyone would complain.

Play NFS Shift and you'll know what I mean. It's a very strange handling model to drive with a controller. I love it with the wheel though, since I now have that.

Who's talking about Race Pro? RP was crap on consoles. Devs have learned a lot since then about making optimizations on consoles.

Time.. and reviews will tell. Fingers crossed.

Bought and returned both Shifts within an hour.

Physics are overdone and outrageous. Cars do not behave like that IRL.

I have Shift 2 Unleashed; it's bizarre, but you really have to tweak the control options before the game even becomes playable. It's not that bad a game after that. The track list is stellar.

Yeah Carlos, completely.

Wolfe, track locations are quite tasty indeed.

I wonder if FM5 will bring the kind of variety that's a healthy mix of real-life tracks, street tracks and locations, rally stages (tarmac and dirt), fantasy tracks etc.. because honestly, the entire track roster needs a refresh.

Couple that with night driving and weather effects... the very thought gives me shudders!

Especially if you checkhow many circuits are there over the whole world.

Blown outta my seat so far!

For those who have experienced the preliminary version, how are the physics and engine sounds?

The game seems to have no road or street cars. Downer.

Oh well..!

You know... I've never really grasped why it takes them a year to work on each track. Why can't they just laser scan em and put them in a game? SO many good tracks that can be included.

Just goes to show.. as in life.. is the case with games: you can't have it all!

These graphics are just insane!

You guys think the next gen consoles will be able to achieve this level of detail and realism?

It goes with out saying. If current PC hardware can hit these levels, it is a safe bet that the next generation of systems will be with in spitting distance of these pictures. Heck I am fairly confident that the WiiU will be pretty close to this.

Sounds are fantastic, everything from gravel to squeeks in the brakes.. right through to the cars themselves its an audio fest.

Physics are getting better, and as the cars and physics engines develop the feel of the cars in the sim change. I think theres a good bit of work going on in this area. I think it's quite good in the more mature car models.

The reality is until its finished you just won't know for sure, but that will depend on what you think feels real.

Having spent a couple of years away from PC sims and on consoles, I got use tothe feel of the top console sims (forza and GT). Having spent time on PCARS, I returned to iracing last month and man is it different. To be honest it's like getting into another car and trying to be fast.. in the end you get used to the slightly different handling.

only you can judge if that translates to "better physics" , we all have an idea of what a good car feels like.

My PC racing rigs a few years old now having spent the last while on consoles. I love triple screen and thats easy to do on a PC.
The current generation of consoles can't touch this level of graphics.
But it's the gameplay that counts, and more so these days the multiplayer aspect as well. without a shadow of a doubt the most fun i've had in a racing game is with Forza.. So I want Forza Fun, Gorgeous immersive graphics and sound, and great multiplayer racing.(could be Forza 5 if the nextgen console supports triple screens)

Do I fancy buying a trio of next gen consoles for triple screen again, and multiple copies of the games ... ern no been there done that, same money as a great PC gaming system. so I hope that some manufacturer steps up on the PC platform and gives Forza (why is this not on a PC anyway) or GT a run for there money.. (actually since a lot of its our money(PCARS).. lets hope they deliver on that!).

iracing is almost there, but it's so simulator focused, it's missing the fun!

I have high hopes for PCARS.

Appologies, I went a bit of topic there!

I agree with you Looney. iRacing feels like a job while pCars is more fun. I love both though. When I'm all serious I'm on iRacing and for some fun I'm doing pCars. Are you a full member? If so, feel free to add me as a friend and maybe we can race together (I haven't done any MP races in pCars yet, only practice sessions) and maybe we can do some laps on iRacing as well. If you want, ofcourse. The last race with you I remember, we were rolling backwards on Road Atlanta

It's really not easy to make something from scratch, laser scanned tracks help you with that but it still takes a very long time to do (and money, a lot of money). iRacing is laser scanning all their tracks and put them online pretty quick, but then again;

It shows. iRacing is not a game, it's really not something you should do for fun. If you want to race on iRacing, you have to be mentally fit.

Sounds like a winner then. Don't know how it's going to turn out on consoles. If it does the way Race Pro did, then...meehhhh!

I thoroughly enjoy Race Pro. It has some tremendous flaws with the frame rate and cars clipping through barriers on Macau, but I still find beauty in it when ever I race/drive it. If Project C.A.R.S. Is like that game, but with a locked frame rate and the tracks that I have seen so far, then I am a happy man.

Yes I have low requirements for the game to be successful on the 360. If the simulation is 100% there and the graphics looks like Xbox 1.5... I am happy enough. Yet I think the game will look far better than that. Hell it may look better than Horizon, now that I think about it.

Interesting saw this from PCARS

LOVE the damage models this game has, really outstanding. Think I'll make some screens tonight.

Have you made a livery yourself? I haven't tried to make one myself yet, only downloaded some from the interwebs, like the Jordan F1 livery, sexiest livery ever :D

No I havent made up any liveries yet, I have for other sims, it's so much easier on the PC.

but I upgraded my editing system to VISTA8 sorry windows 8 :) and its bust I called in Micrisoft suport in and they have had two go's and still cannot fix it, it's been escalated.. but in the meantime theyve completely stuffed it (bleedin hackers, professionals my ass!) I've been left with software thats half installed cause they manually tried to brute force remove my antivirus...using another companies trial software!! amateurs I tell you. I'd have been quicker just reinstalling it, except me and a few thousand others are having the same issue!!

Wow... P.Cars is borderline RIDICULOUS!!

Don't think this is going to turn out all that great on the X360.

If only I could somehow revive a little enthusiasm and motivation to get a gaming PC....eeekhh!
