Project cars 2 bug report Q&A

I have a potential bug that needs confirmation.

I have Damage set to OFF in my main menu. When I enter an online room which has Damage set to ON, I do not personally have damage on during that race. My car can lose all the wings and bodywork imaginable, but runs as fast as ever.

Can anyone else confirm or disprove this?

Had an issue today where my whole career profile vanished without me deleting it on Xbox one and has not came back since although my online driver rating has remained unnafected such a shame as I was 1 tier away from the top and had put about 20 hours into it

After loading PCAR2 yesterday, my default view is now roof camera instead of cockpit. I cannot get it back to cockpit view as default.
I bound a button for camera view and can change it.
Now after a race starts, I have to quickly change the view to cockpit before the lights go green....This is a pain in the a#$......

I have looked at every option and cannot for the life of me find a way to change the default view.

Anybody got any ideas on why this would have changed?
And is there a way to fix this?

thanks

One of my pit crew was just standing down the start/finish straight with his arms held out... I hope they fired that guy as I really don't think he was offering much in terms of effectiveness to the overall pit stop.

He must have been taking a break.

Check to see if you have the option setting for HUD to Limited or Full. One of them as default may be the issue causing the restricted view.

"What the game doesn’t mention is that the first two require calibration time on-track. You’ll head out and wonder why the wheel has gone numb, but feedback will slowly fill in over a few laps. It’s an interesting sensation, but should be mentioned somewhere. Plus, since the Control menu is saved every time you exit, make sure you don’t accidentally modify anything in there, or you’ll need to run the calibration laps again."

maybe here is the answer to some supposed mistakes

Is there a list of 'recognised bugs' somewhere?

I've gone through 6-7 pages in this thread. But tigers plenty of risk that I double post...

On ps4 with a t300

A) FFB , the volume adjusts during the laps. Ok nice feature. When crossing the finish line on le mans in the Ferrari GTE is adjusted violently. It felt like the difference of adding 10 to the gain slider. On azure coast it adjusted abruptly a couple of times. Went from no strength to good strength to almost nothing and back to good.

B) at oulton park there was cones in the air when i restarted. Those cones then remained in the air for the next race. A bit of a distraction through turn one for the next many laps ;)

C) there's a harsh 'stutter' in the background graphics on Texas road curse, when driving on the infield. This was to the extend that it caused a bit of pain in the eyes ...

D) the buzz killer of them all for me. Bob the AI randomly took over the car I the middle of a race. I know you made him better @IanBell but I prefer to decide when he drives and when he doesn't. It happened at a Le mans race after 40 minutes. And again in the Porsche Moby dick factory event after 5 minutes. The system wasn't restarted in between the two events.

E) the Porsche 919 overheats like no tomorrow in the Porsche proving grounds. I tried keeping it below 6000 rpm but still after 40% of coast de azure the engine overheated. And radiator opening was at 100%

None the less. There's a lot of entertainment (and frustration) in the game !

Hey guys I've found a few massive issues that i want to know if I'm an idiot or what the go is... Note this is for PS4 with a controller

Driving Line - What driving line? It just decides when it does and doesn't want to work. So I've now turned it off all together, though i used that for depth perception and realistically it is a feature that should work. It also needs more options like PC1. Full driving line, brake only etc.

Time Trials - Is anyone having issues/is there something i have to do to get my ghost data to save? i bought this game specifically for time trial, and racing myself effectively. Yet i post a time, it updates saying fastest time is x, but no ghost data??? I'm sure im missing something... Oh also SMS can you relax the driver penalties on Bathurst oh my god. I hit ripple strips on the APEX of the corner and it says "lap time invalidated" what the hell is up with that? If you clip a wall, your time will be slower anyway. Remove the "Lap time invalidated" crap all together unless people are really cutting the corners. Clipping a wall will hinder the time anyway, so why does it matter?

Car handling - Literally every car i have tried handles like absolute horse ****. They do NOT feel like race cars in any way shape or form. I had to spend 4 hours fiddling with the Aston martin Gt3 car in order to even get a complete lap in. I understand wanting to feel more "real" but honestly it's beyond ridiculous. The Group A R32 GTR handles worse than my street R32... To fix some of it's handling issues i had to do what i would do to the street sold version. I wouldn't expect to have to fiddle with the suspension like this on the undefeated group A champion...

Lap times - Has anyone else noticed that they can't come close to matching the times put down in PC1 compared to PC2? I've spent hours and hours palying PC1 and was floating around the 2:04 mark in the Aston Martin Gt3 at Bathurst... I can barely manage a 2:12 in PC2... Below is one of the main reasons why i think this is happening...

Transitioning - This is something i noticed last night after sinking probably 20 hours or so into PC2 so far... It might have something to do with a controller setting or something but the cars Transitioning into corners is horrible. They HATE going from heavy braking into minor accelerating through a corner. The best example i can give is Bathurst, as i pretty much only play this track, specifically for the corner Griffins Bend (keeping in mind this is stock for stock cars, no suspension changes):

In PC1 the brake marker was slightly after the last brake marker on the track, sort of at the end of the little bitumen side bit... To take that corner it was hard braking, dropping gears rapidly from 6th down to 3rd, before adding about half throttle to pull the nose of the car around, hitting full throttle just before the apex. When done correctly you would effectively be changing gears back up to 4th before you have even finished the corner.

In PC2...
I couldn't get the nose of the car to come around at all without fiddling with the suspension. Even dropping to second and losing wayyyy too much speed the front end just wouldn't get in line. After fiddling with the suspension for 4 hours (which i STRONGLY believe you shouldn't have to do to enjoy the game, sure to get the best time you do, but a new player shouldn't be expected to do this) i finally got the front end to get in line. But it's still nowhere near the speed it should be (probably losing over a second in time on that corner alone). I eventually got my thinking hat on properly to ask why? Why is this GT3 car not doing a pretty basic thing...

After testing for about 3 hours i figured out that the car just doesn't like going from heavy braking to accelerating, or "transitioning" into a corner. I found that if i have a delay in going from braking to accelerating the car behaves itself. But in order to leave enough time to do that transition, i have to move my brake marker back about 5 meters, which means i'm braking way too early and my corner speed is down too much.

This transition issue probably over the entire lap time equates to about 4 or so seconds worth. Is this a setting that i have missed that they have added in for controllers or something?

Just had an 8 lap race at Long Beach GT4s...started in pole and whenever 2nd place would get within 0.5 seconds id get a blue flag then told to let him past which of course didnt happen. Last lap of the race every single car disapears off track and i finish first only for ghe leaderboard to say last. So i watch the race back and the instant the race started it put me last even though i was 1st from start to finish.

What a mess

Not sure if this is a bug. Race lap times are quite a bit off the pace from practice and qualifying. This is with the same weather, track and time of day settings along with car setup and fuel loads. The car handling is noticeably different in the race and the braking distances are increased. This seems to point to the rubber on track not transistioning from practice and qualifying to the race. Is this supposed to happen or should the rubber stay on track?

Edit: The maximum session time is capped at 2 hours 20 minutes regardless of the actual lobby settings.

The RPM readout doesn't sync with the bar moving around the rim of the circular HUD thing. The RPM number is higher than the rotating bar. Could just be a 488 GT3 issue.

My brake temps spiked a couple hundred degrees then fell a couple hundred degrees on the telemetry.
I have no idea why the video is so blurry. The temps go from 800 to 1300 then back to 1000.

Man the qualify skip bug has been crippling my career playthrough so I'm happy to see that @IanBell is hoping to fix it up.

I'd love to have the time to sit and wait for a 30 minute qualy to end once I set my time but unfortunately not. :(

This. So this. I only have MAYBE 90 minutes to play each night before I have to start sacrificing sleep. Given that I have to sit and wait out qualies means I've just plain stopped my career mode after just 4 races in. Not cool, the mere thought of this, let alone giving the idea the green light should be cause for concern as to who is calling the shots.

The more I play sims, the more I feel I'd truly be a great game director. It seems the ones that do this job never seem to think about what we, the users experience. Maybe I'm crazy.

Have you tried my workaround of getting a 1 place grid penalty for pitlane speeding?

In regards to the winter solder one. It seems to happen if the season isn't set to spring or summer. When set to autumn or winter the trophy will not trigger. Not sure why snap snap snap didn't trigger...might be because I used photo mode in a saved replay of an online race. Will try another method tonight and see if I can get the trophy to trigger

No unfortunately I can't get Snap Snap Snap trophy to trigger on PS4. I've been in photo mode taking pictures in the middle of a race, at the end of a race...even on a saved online race replay but nothing...

Minor bug/difference with pc2 compared to pc1 - GT3 cars headlights no longer illuminate braking markers.

I use this at Monza in the daytime to help me see the countdown and braking markers. My eyes are not the best anymore! They were more realistically reflective in pc1. Thought my light button wasn't working but actually it's the lights themselves.

Could you explain a bit more? :)
To put it simply, you get a one place penalty in qualifying and I've done it through speeding in the pitlane and when I skip to the end of the session, the times are as expected. Although sometimes, they are faster than the current times but that happens in real life.

Ok, today is a new day, I though. Let's race! (even if the menus are slow as hell atm).

Went to quick race and chose the Porsche 936 for some laps around Sonoma. Then, I went to my Career to continue the Cayman season and the following happened:

1. The car had no TCS or ABS (as it should and as it had in all my previous races). I guess it brought the settings from the 936 (not the first time it happens).

2. After winning the race with no ABS or TCS I went to photo mode to take some pictures as the lighting was phenomenal. When I was done, I clicked "Continue" to go to my career menu and the game just froze with the constant sound of a car revving and the camera wobbling around. I couldn't do anything despite the "select X" was on the bottom left side of the screen. Had to turn off the PS4 or close the game within the PS hub menu. Now I have to do the same race all over again. This happened yesterday as well just before I turned off my PS4 out of frustration.

Turned the console off again.

Minor, non game braking issues are acceptable but things like these that make your gaming experience unpredictable + just swipe out your progress is unacceptable. I'll probably resort to taking pictures and ignore the racing part for now. At least until the game gets some decent patches. And GT is just around the corner so I'll be busy soon anyway.

I've been pretty harsh with PD and their weird decisions concerning content, communication and deadlines but one thing I can't complain is having bugs (small or big) from the moment I insert the disc on a console. And that goes a long way to keep people playing, even if the game is not perfect. I can deal with content and game design compromises but having my experience / progress broken due to bugs doesn't work with me.

PC2 has all it needs to be remarkable and to attract people from other games but atm that's being blocked by all the issues it brought with it out of the box. I didn't play pC1 because I was seeing so many bug reports around when it came out. It's such a weird thing to come here or to the official PC forum and see that a great part (if not the majority) of the threads being opened and the posts being made are related to problems, issues, bugs that people are coming across as they play more and more.

I really hope SMS can fix this (if not all, at least those bugs that break the game, such as freezing issues, setups mixing / unintended changes, unrealistic grip or lack thereof on diff surfaces both for players and AI, etc) as soon as possible because I really want to play this game as it was intended to be played.

Why not just park the game until the first patch comes out? So many people seem to be torturing themselves unnecessarily in this thread. The game currently has issues, this much we know. But hopefully they'll be fixed soon.

I seem to be getting random hangs between sessions. The only way out was to close PCARS

No-one appear to be on a really slow connection.

Why not fix the game before it comes out? Is expecting a game that doesn't freeze or changes your settings for no reason something we should now accept as normal on day one? So many people expected the game they paid between 60 to +400€ to be reliable, right? Damn players.

I'm not torturing myself. In fact this was my first comment on these issues. Until now, I had encountered some bugs but nothing really big. In fact, I've been pretty positive about it and enjoying as much as I can.

And throughout practice I was getting this jerkiness

Very hard to play when this happens. Again, I didn't notice anyone on a slow connection and it certainly isn't my BB.

Now patched with 1.1.30xxx version and there are still problems with setup over-writing in tuning menu. For savig setup you must still choose "create new" to save it properly...

I agree with you, it's not ideal. But we are where we are (or rather, you are where you are - I refunded the game until it's fixed). And the 'torturing' comment wasn't aimed at you, so apologies if it looked that way. It's just that there's so much rage directed at the game on these boards at the moment. It's a game. It launched in bad shape. It'll likely improve.
:)
