What about the graphics in the rear view mirrors? The image in my rear view mirrors looks like the original GT on PS1... I'll have to check, but I'm pretty sure the mirrors on Project Cars 1 looked better than this.

Apart from the mirrors I find the graphics excellent on my PS4 Pro, and Live Track is amazing. Aquaplaning on puddles feels very real :-)

Nope, I have the PS4 Pro and I am very underwhelmed by the graphics, VERY!
I'm usually one of the guys who hates graphics topics and care for the gameplay! And for that I give SMS great credit! A very good game (despite all the bugs, and I listed a long list in that bug report topic already).
But the graphics were supposed to be one of the highlights of this game. The artifacts, aliasing, rendering, pixelating etc. is really noticeable!

Don't want to be jerk, but for comparison purposes, and since we only have assetto as a sim on ps4, here's 2 photos taken from my phone, on my FHD 46" TV from 1m distance!
From that distance, you should be barely able to see the pixels on a 46" FHD screen. Yet I'll let you be the judge.

EDIT: Although I was a bit far away in the PCars2 image, (so it should be clearer) notice how grainy the Nurburgring panel is, compared to AC! Notice the mirrors graphics on both! Notice the overall clarity of both!

Disclaimer : i know the livetrack+weather have its effect on our limited power machines, and I'll take that + low graphics on top of good graphics alone! Just to be clear!

I have a general question regarding grip. I consider myself a good driver (using T300RS) but my laptimes are way slower than in Pcars1. There I drove under 1:40 with GT3’s in Hockenheim, Spa under 2:20. Now I am 5 seconds slower and the laps seem clean. Also when I turn traction control completely off the GT3 cars seem to have too much grip when soft slicks are mounted. I am not complaining, I just wonder if I got something wrong with the setting as the ECU adjustments to the traction control seem to have an effect even if the traction control is disabled in the gameplay settings or am i mistaken?

The tyre model was modified/improved significantly compared to pC1, which in general means that lap times have gotten closer to real life where in pC1 they would be too low. In short, you cannot compare your lap times to pC1, you'll have to compare to real life :)

I've had to completely reverse my thinking when playing Pcars 2. I was so used to the handling in Forza and PC1 seemed to be a little easier in the handling department. I realised how gentle you need to be with the throttle in 1st and 2nd in the XJ220 S because if you floor it, it will pull sideways violently. Once you hit 3rd, you can open her up a bit. Cornering and braking needs to be done very gently too. I guess it really was designed in game to handle like a 1994 car! Absolutely love this game! Here's to SMS

This is a completely separate question. Don't quote me on this, but IIRC the BOP for GT3 cars in PC1 were set so that they would be balanced against GTE cars (or is that they are balanced that way in PC2 now?), which meant they were faster than they should have been. Based on my experience with the BMW Z4 in both PC1 and PC2, this is definitely the case, I'm only unsure on the exact reason.

*compares laptimes to TCR where he can get not-last on the grid*

We're looking to improve the aliasing on cars in a future patch yes. The render team are on it. pCARS2 has fully 3d trees and circa 500k more primitives per track than pCARS1. Add in Livetrack 3.0 and the extra overhead of all AI cars running a full brush model and something has to give. The frame-rates are better and the aliasing on the environment is working fine.

We're running proper EQAA on PS4 but the way in which we mask the cars for things like panning motion blur caused it to be masked out on occasion. But as above, we're on it. I think we can improve it to an extent.
For me it's the aliasing on the environment that needs more work than the cars. The cars look mostly ok, with some rear wings causing a bit of jaggies from time to time, but in terms of the trackside detail, it's the fences, barriers, trees, kerbs and painted white lines that don't look to have effective AA on standard PS4. Pro looks better obviously. I started a thread on the official forum asking if something like the temporal slider from pcARS1 can be implemented for 2, but have no clue if this is even possible, but a little bit of blur to mask jaggies would at least be a nice option for the player.

Other than that, and some issues here and there, the core driving is a vast improvement and I still haven't found a car I don't like., which is great.

This place is the best out there so I have to ask. Is the game really that buggy? the NeoGaF thread is filled with angry people.
PS4 users seem to be having a particularly tough time of it. I don't think the PC version has half of the problems that the console versions seem to have.

Personally I refunded on Steam because I want to play the game how it was originally intended, so don't mind waiting a few months (or longer) for the upcoming patches and improvements. I've been massively looking forward to this game for over two years so want to enjoy it as 'purely' as I can with the minimum of irritations, so removing it from my hard drive and cooling my jets seemed to be the prudent thing to do. I'll definitely pick it up again at some point in the future when I'm confident that it's in the best possible shape. In the meantime I'll stick with R3E, Assetto Corsa and the original Project CARS for my VR racing methadone. There's no rush.

The sound of R18 in AC is way closer to the real car while that in PC2 is similar to ... the non-hybrid version? Is it possible to have this fixed?

The sound is certainly far better in AC for the R18 e-tron quattro. In fact, the LMP1-H cars are superior in every way in AC.

If AC had Le Mans I would never switch it off.

Does anyone know how many of the P1 GTR Livery are base of real life?
Take a look at this

I would believe that the Liveries in PC2 are all McLaren approved or advised.

On the game in general - the game remains broken for me with the wheel in races - insane Vibration jerking the wheel around like a Jackhammer.

I like the FFB in time attack and the rest is great as well but if im not able to race against AI & humans due to a broken Control System in game there is no point in playing this right now. Controller handling is pretty good now but thats not how i want to play.

Thrustmaster TX on X1.

It's sad that PC is not doing well enough for the most up-to-date, sophisticated, fastest non-open-wheel group. :banghead: IMO the sound of GT cars are better in PC2?
Come on SMS make this happen!!!!!!!!!!

BTW do you know how to let it show every sector time in my HUD during the race like PC1? I can only see the sector time of my fastest lap in the pause menu.

hmmm. That must be an xbox thing only. On PC the wheel is very smooth.

Would anyone like to offer some HDTV buying advice? I'm going to get an upgrade soon and I want to properly check things out. I've had the same Vizio 32" for almost 10 years now (wow didn't even realize!) and it's just not cutting it anymore. It's 720p and with the quality of games currently coming out on the PS4 I can't not use it to it's full potential.

Ultimately I would like to get 4K so it's ready for an eventual upgrade to PS4 Pro but to be honest that's not a requirement. I'm more about budget. Everyone I know has Vizio because they're cheap and don't break. But I don't know about any other brands and I may be keeping myself from an equally good deal. What I'm looking for is 4K at 46-48" and hopefully under $500. If 4K is too expensive 1080p at 48" can be done for $400 on the Vizio website. Is there better out there or should I stick to my gut?
an xfinity repair man just told me a few weeks ago that there not broadcasting in 4k yet,i like mine for the internet ready features/wifi

The game feels and looks like an early access game. I have a 1080Ti and this game still looks garbage at max settings and the way the cars handle is abysmal.
try dialing the game play down to beginner and play with the tuning or go see motorcity hammi tunes

The prices on 4K are too high still. My best bet is 48" 1080p. I measured the size of the space and I think that's best. There's a 60" in my living room and I can tell that's way too big for me. 48" sits around the $350 price which is comfortable for me.
