Im curious, has anyone ever noticed the effects of live track 3.0 in reference to dirt being put on the track? I have never noticed any debris ever going on track when I have an off. Does it really happen? Im on PC, maybe ive turned it off by mistake to save performance?
I haven’t seen it. At the same time I’m not really looking for it, so if it’s subtle I could of missed it. What I definitely haven’t felt is gravel, dirt, etc being stuck to the tires when I come back on track. While GranTurismo isn’t a physics benchmark, when you ran off track in gt6 or maybe it was gt5 you would feel the lower grip in the next corner from the tires being dirty.

Try the Agajanian. Maybe is the threaded pattern but it takes a while to recover grip after a spin.

It's really not subtle, bunch of tan stuff strewn across the tarmac and when you drive over it it feels like you've just hit a puddle of water.

PCars2 does this as well, if you go off your grip is going to be rubbish for the next couple turns.

I would be willing to put money down on them doing such a thing. I would be willing to do the same thing for PD and T10, it’s just how business works, and there is nothing wrong with it.

Yes nothing is wrong with this but they also have to ensure:
- the game gets patches when needed
- DLC comes out on time esp. if they already sold a season pass

You're guaranteed 4 dlc packs over the life span of the game, why the rush? It'll probably be another 1-2 months, I think they're releasing dlc quarterly. Wouldn't you rather have them focus their resources on this next patch instead? Or does that make too much sense.

Patch and DLC ;)
Just deliver something to keep their gamers buisy before the walk of to other games.

If it’s as noticeable as driving through a puddle then I haven’t encountered this.

I’m aware that ‘dirty’ tires are simulated. What I’m saying is I have not felt the loss of grip. If it’s a dynamic thing maybe I’m not driving far enough off track or for long enough?

I base this off nothing other than my personal experiences, but I get the feeling that a larger proportion of the PCARS2 playerbase is less affected by the current lack of updates/DLC than the playerbases of FM7 or GT Sport. Those games both (probably) have a higher percentage of general/casual players — PCARS2 players are likely to be predominantly sim racers, and they've placed their flag firmly in the ground. They're there for the long haul, in other words.

Again, just a personal anecdote. Steam player numbers have been interesting to track, but I have no idea what the split is between PC and consoles.

P.S. Please don't double-post, that's what the Edit and +Quote buttons are for. 👍

Well, when there's a good amount of it on the track, you will. :) Friday wasn't the first time I've seen it but it was the first time I had it affect my grip over multiple laps.

Well, dirty tires have less grip, so if dirty tires are simulated then the loss of grip is too? And yes, if you just have a quick off it's not that noticeable and they clean up pretty quickly. But if you do some agricultural exploration you'll notice it.

It should matter if you go play in sand with cold tires or hot tires on how grip you lose and for how long

Yes, it's another PS4 bug but quite amusing though. It was a light-hearted moment in a race where I was the fasted but fell victim to a brake checking clown then got a 50s penalty for speeding in the pitlane when going for repairs.

While I can only speak for myself, that is not the case for me. I have less than 7 hours on Pcars 2 and have basically shelved it until the upcoming patch. i just got tired of a lot of the issues which I am not going to rehash here. Some of the problems I had I could not be certain whether it was bugs or design issues and that is a problem that should not exist imo.

I will still be buying a console edition at some point though, again, just waiting on the patch to drop so I know everything is fixed and I can see the differences between PS4 and X1X and whether they are big enough to justify buying a new console or sticking with PS4.

It's certainly the case for me. I have over 160 hours and I mostly do practicing and league racing.
I play the career when none of my friends are online or when I just want to have some relaxed racing. (4 hour endurance race with AI is fun and relaxing for me.)

I haven't even driven 10% of the possible combinations so I can wait for DLC.
I can even wait for the next patch since most, if not all, of the bugs affecting our league racing have workarounds.

Is this still buggy on Xbox?

Yes. I tried playing it for the first time in a few weeks and found that they messed up the handling and it’s pretty much impossible to use any view other than the hood cam as the FPS is horrid.

Damn, I was thinking of digging out my wheel and giving it another chance.

There are lots of things I love about this game, it has potential to be my go-to racer but the bugs have turned me away once again, just like Pcars 1.

I am in the exact same boat. Waiting on the patch.

For those who have a PS4(Pro) and still have doubts to buy PCars2 yes or no you can download a demo of the sim in the PS Store
I just gave it a try, I have a pc version myself already. I dunno if the demo already has a patch 3.0 applied, but I thought the graphics look just fine for a PS4 game. I read all about those “jaggies” and it doesn’t look bad at all in that sense on my screen. I mean, if I come really close to the screen I can see imperfections but playing from 6-8 feet away I would have to try really hard to find those. Certainly wouldn’t be something I’d be bothered with during racing.

EDIT: think it is based on a more recent version that 2.0, because before the race it now shows which setup is loaded (stable). Give this one a try guys who have the game. See how it compares.

New, way better then the actual full game. It is clearly patched at 3.0.

One graphical bug I noticed is the reflections in the puddles, they seem to be bugged because they flicker. Also HDR just makes everything darker, I had to disable it.

Man i hope not. Granted I'm playing 2 feet from the screen with my wheel, but the demo is jaggy as crap and the graphics are horrible. On a positive note, the ffb felt great right from the start which is something I thought PS4 users had an issue with and which I struggled for a long time to get right on pc.

Imo it is, options are different, also the wet weather with the racing line. Also intro on my 4k TV is not washed out and looks wat better with hdr. Yes ffb is great now.

Thanks for the info.
i will finitely take your word as the demo was my first introduction to the PS4 version.

It is for sure at a different and way better stage compared to the full game. Now i can't tell if It is 100% representing the game when It will be patched, maybe something is still in their sleeve.

I already have the PC version and spent quite some hours and will now also download the PS4 version and try to compare as good as possible. I have to keep in mind that the PS4 version is new to me and thus less hours ;)

Nice. I'm thinking about getting a Buttkicker but at the same time I have a subwoofer large enough to sit on lol
