It's funny how the "season pass" mentality has affected all of us.

Don't get me wrong, I have PC2 + season pass and I have AC + season pass + remaining DLCs that weren't included in the season pass.

BUT, recently GTS re-opened my eyes that we don't need to do that to get good content, or we shouldn't do that at all actually. But we've been spoiled and manipulated to think otherwise.

For my PS4 I paid:
-35$ for AC+SP when it was on sale. I then paid 9+9 for the latest 2 DLC packs. That's 53$ in total.
-60$ for base PC2 + 25$ for its SP. That's 85$ in total.
-28$ for GTS when it was on sale.

GTS has got like maybe 10 updates since launch?! Got tons of bugs fixed; added like maybe 5 new real tracks and other virtual tracks? added TONS of new cars, lots of single player content, ALL FOR FREE.
==> I know, some would argue that the game was pretty weak on content and that those should have been in the game in the first place, but that's not totally also true. They could have charged for some tracks or cars at least, but they didn't.
==> And some would argue that it's not a real full sim (but who is actually entitled to verify that?!), but it still has the BEST online multiplayer racing and the BEST automatic matchmaking system, the best scapes and livery editor (if not the only livery editor), great single player content in my opinion (driving lessons anyday over racing against AI), and the BEST graphics. It has lots of stuff going for it.

Yes I don't play GTS as much as I play PC2 or AC, but I think it has affected me in a good way and made me rethink some of my past decisions and consider better future ones.
That’s a rather unfair comparison, both SMS and Kunos are independent developers with limited funds while PD are part of Sony. Game development is getting more and more complex, time consuming and expensive with each generation, and smaller developers are actually relying on DLC income nowadays.
Polyphony Digital in comparison has seemingly unlimited funding, plus it’s a system seller/halo game for Sony. They can justify handing out content for free, as the end goal is to have a strong brand and sell Playstations.

I think GTS is a special case - it was conceived as a subscription game, but that idea was dropped. It was released as a bare bones product with almost no content to be gradually fleshed out. Presumably the next game will release with more content, but may follow the GTS model of early release with a lot of extra content rather than the old GT model of very delayed release while content is built.

That's the thing. GTS's content was laughable at launch so the updates were a necessity to have more than a better demo. Content-wise there no better than PC2. There are some areas such as online mode that are rather weak but you really can't complain about content.

I disagree,...

At the moment GTS received mostly
Fictional content (tracks and vision GT) and ported tracks and cars from older GT. .
Recycled stuff on a real poor base game.

Assetto also received Silverstone classic free or the Scottish fictional track, or black cat fictional track and even laguna seca laser scanned, the suv cars for free...

If the content is good, I don't care to pay, not in GT or any other sim, I also understand that getting license from cars and tracks is quite expensive and devs like Kunos or SMS aren't as big PD is that used paid DLC in GT5, and micropays in GT6 and GTS BTW ,and all cars cost credits... Meanwhile in a sim like PC2 or AC you have all cars unlocked .. Useful when you basically play online in racing leagues.....i don't have time to grinding 20 millions for 1 car nowadays sincerely.

I like the variety of cars in AC and PC2 .. Much more than GTS, that still uses cars from GT5, GT6 and too much fictional and fictional racecars based on real models ....

I sure don't gonna say no if PD makes a season pass bringing cars as a new Ford GT, Ford GT GT3, Ferrari 488 GT3, Porsche 918,Ferrari Fxxk, koininsegg agera and newer real cars.

About bug fixes.... Gtsport has still since GT6(2013) an issue on online lobbies (players that don't see each other on track ) with new ones as keep on grid stuck or autopilot that keep engaged in rolling starts.. 10 months, nothing fixed... And what is whorse for me... No oficial forum or way to report directly to PD's devs like SMS or Kunos has. .

I think SMS fixed more in 3 updates than PD in 10,and have the sensation that SMS or Kunos care more about thier users than PD..

Don't get me wrong, GT is a nice game with huge potential , but since GT5 for me PD is going really downhills in quality and support.

Edit...

I don't think I've ever driven on Fiorano in any racing game, unless it was present in Ferrari Challenge and I couldn't remember.

Well... I searched "Fiorano in racing game" and this is the result in Wikipedia .

Even if the list of games is incomplete, sure that the Fiorano track isn't seen in a lot of games
Thanks, I've just watched a video of that game. Don't recall the track being much used throughout the Career though.
It also was the game where I first drove around Mugello.

Thanks for posting!

I'm so excited about racing the 250 TR and 250 GT against one of my favourite cars in the game - the Aston Martin DBR1/300!

Below a scene from Le Mans 1960 - 250 TR's v AM DBR1's and 250 GT's v C1 Corvettes - just need that Le Mans class winning 1960 283 cubic inch, fuel injected Corvette C1 now Please and thank you SMS and @IanBell

Solid looking pack..

I always enjoyed driving at Mugello in Asseto Corsa so glad to see it make it into this game.

Don't know much about Fiorano although I know it is to Ferrari what Leipzig is to Porsche..

Either way 8 more Cars for my Drive every Car on every track series and 2 new tracks as well :)

Still hoping this isn't the final DLC for PC2.. Would be nice to get at least another year out of this.

Agreed. You can probably have another Ferrari pack with their F1 cars. And some Touring Cars, Oval Stuff and Other Things.

Holy mother of pixels.
Why is the game giving me rear-view-mirror-quality graphics?

Even Texas at daylight (the race after this one) was heavily pixelated at some parts...
This was on a PS4 Pro, using "enhance framerate". Switching to "enhance visuals" only made it worse, with a mix of heavy frame-rate dropping and heavy pixelling.

It's been half a year since I last played this game, but I don't remember it being this bad.
Also, Sonoma before this was fine, as far as I remember.

Looks bad, you on latest PCars version?

Have you rebooted game and console?

That looks like a forced low resolution issue, I used to get that on my ps3 sometimes & my PC for that matter, I would fire it up & it would reset the display to 480/560p or whatever it was, so I would change it back to 1080p manually in the settings & reboot the thing.

Not sure if it's the signal to & from the tv/monitor that throws a wobbler sometimes. Hope you sort it anyhow because that looks **** :)

I am and I have.

I've actually just tried creating a Custom Race with the same car and track (at night) and the result is the same.

Any problems with other tracks at night?

The console is fine and running all other games flawlessly, as far as I can tell.

Like I briefly mentioned above, there was one section at the Texas track in which the same happened. The game would get all jerky and pixelated everytime I got to that section. The weird part is that in this case it wasn't at night.
Other than that, it's generally fine.
Will keep an eye on other track / cars / time of day combinations.

Here's the same car at a different track at night:

Also, here's a video of what it looks like in motion:

Notice the awful flickering.
The fact that the video is only at 30fps along with YouTube's awful compression makes this actually look better than it is.

@35mm I tried yesterday your 2 aforementioned options, just out of curiosity, as someone recommended for me!
It was horrendous! Just HORRENDOUS! I dunno if people have it or not! I'm on a PS4 pro too and a 4k TV! It looked exactly like your photos! A PS2 game at best!
I then switched back to "enhanced resolution" and it got normal again! So I can recommend this mode ONLY!
I just dunno how people could use the 2 other options?!? Maybe they don't have a 4k TV?! Or they sit like 5m away?!

@Georgeagea

Thanks for testing it out. I was pretty sure the problem wasn't related to my equipment or setup, but that confirms it.
It's a shame that this "enhanced framerate" mode is so poorly implemented, as it would be a nice option for people that prefer a smooth framerate and/or for people with 1080p screens.
I don't understand how this problem isn't more talked about or why it hasn't been properly addressed by the developer.

Maybe they don't have a 4k TV?!
I game on two different TVs: a 65'' 4K HDR and a 40'' 1080p. The problem is perfectly visible in both.
