Really amazing multi class micro endurance race today from the Dubai Autodrome GP with the AI.

The three classes were LMP1 2016 (from the Le Mans DLC), GTE (which was my class) and of course TC (to throw in a couple more backmarkers).

The race was 15 laps long with 30 competitors overall. 8 LMP1s, 12 GTEs and 10 TCs. There were three weather slots: slightly cloudy, rain and heavy clouds in that order synced to the race. The time started in the afternoon and went in to the night around the last couple of laps. The car I was driving was my specialty, the 488 GT3 from Ferrari. Also my favourite GT racing car in real life.

Started out in a formation lap in last for the GTE class, the race started and I slowly made my way up through the opposition. I eventually landed in third behind a duo of Ford GTLMs, the Pit Crew sent me a warning about incoming rain at about the 4th lap and I boxed early for a set of wet tires. The rain started to fall and the track became submerged. I was able to make up a few positions from the pitstop due to the wet tires I had and I landed in first after the GT duo boxed for wet tires around lap 6.

After about half a lap of driving in first, I oversteered on a submerged corner and splatted face first into the barrier. The front of my car was crumpled but the suspension still worked and the headlights too. I pitted at the end of that lap with the Ford and a Corvette right behind me. I exited the pits with Racing Soft compounds chasing after the Corvette around lap 10.

However, I misjudged the tire compound change and I was driving on a track with some parts wet and some parts dry. (Thanks Livetrack 2.0, why you gotta be so realistic?) This meant I could dance with the Corvette on the dry sections but he could have his way with me on the wet sections.

It was three laps of uphill battling, fighting the Corvette with a bad compound, a smashed 488 GTE, backmarker Touring Cars, getting out of the way of LMP1s, the setting sun. However I managed to fight the conditions and my car and I stuck it out. The track dried enough on the 14th lap for me to pass the Corvette while he still had wet tires on.

I finished the race in 2nd in the GTE class behind the leading Ford GTLM, 10th overall if you count the LMP1 cars. Really just a memorable race and one that I’m proud of myself over. Definitely one I’d recommend you’d try out against the AI as well. This really reminds me of the amazing opportunities that this single player has when I’m annoyed with people in GT Sport. I can always come here and live out some amazing races without having to worry about massive idiots online.

Question regarding tuning. With assists off and TC, Brake assist off in a lobby the IndyCar still allows you to add or takeaway TC in the car setup page. When everything is set to off will the car still allow the TC to be used since you can tune it?

I've never changed that number and have never seen anyone else change it on the IndyCars especially. I've only seen it changed slightly for cars which has TC but not often on those either.

This just happen and i have no idea way?

I finally tried the McLaren P1 (road version, not GTR) for the first time last night and now I totally understand your obsession with it, it's so easy to lose control in but so hard to crash, it must be one of the most forgiving cars in the game. In contrast, I switched to the Clio cup car for a cooldown session and it felt exactly like I was driving a Ford transit van after the nimbleness of the P1 .... I'm not sure if I dare try the GTR version, I might become as hooked as you

Apparently the same bug as with the wall in Spa before Eau Rouge. You get too close it also sucks you in like that causing terminal damage.

Is it a bug? Or is it a physics model? I have no idea so it's an honnest question.
But could this be the venturi effect instead of a bug? (The effect that gives floorplates the downforce they give)

I highly doubt it. It doesn't happen anywhere else but Spa and apparently the spot @Chicane discovered.

I have encountered it with an other car. That's why I thought it's a feature. It's also worse at high speeds, which would be correct if it where to be a venturi effect, on spa you can actually feel te wheel wanting to go to the right and counter it.
I also have no idea if real drivers encounter this.

It does actually happen quite alot when you crash & go slightly airborne, instead of your car landing & sliding along the road to a halt, I have witnessed quite a few times (not just at Spa either) of hitting an invisible wall & just stopping then the car just dropping out of the air.

There are actually quite a few places where you get hooked on a fence trust me, I crash alot :) for testing purposes of course :)

I kinda find it funny aswell when racing open wheels & clipping the AI's tyres, it launches them airborne with force :)

Does anyone know what the project might be? Is it likely to be the mobile game or PC3 or something else?

His talking about a project .. So, no idea..

Pcars 3?
Mobile game?
The game with a famous license that @IanBell once talked about?
Other project?

Let's see if in the next day there will be some more news about it..

Can say i'm thrill about it the guy has been fired twice s now  hope it works out this time and he helps sms.

Yes this guy was fired twice... With driveclub I still don't understand why , cause he fixed the issues and improved the game a lot .. Even PD should learn about how to make a good post realese.from him.

Onrush was a different story ... And can understand that it didn't work.. People expected a copy of moterstorm ..

But this guy worked also on the motorstorm games and evolution studios maked also the WRC games from PS2...

So I think this guy it's a good addition to SMS team

just my two cents, but aren't we supose to have one more DLC Ferrari car pack ?
It's been a while since we didn't heard anaything about PC2, are we going to have some more patches ?

Yes the ferrari pack is schedule for September but no one really knows the release day.

Who knows if there gonna release any more patches for the game the last one was almost 3 months ago.

The fact that the last patch was almost 3 months ago could be a signal that the post launch support has (almost) come to an end, possibly one last patch with the Ferrari pack. I really hope I'm wrong though, especially since ending support now indicates to me that there isn't much hope for a PC3

All updates have been released 3 months between each with an DLC of the season pass . 4 DLC in total, being the incoming one of Ferrari the last one..

I think once the game updated and DLC launched we will have more news, but I expect at least an update more and some extra content in end November - December launching together a PC2 Goty edition ..

I don't think we will see soon a news about PC3, cause I think that SMS is waiting for the next generation of consoles now before starting the development.. The actual generation of consoles is already quite limited in performance running PC2

What you have said sounds very sensible! I guess there could be a long delay before there is another Project Cars game. The GOTY edition will probably launch in time for peak sales Christmas 2018.

Maybe there will be a second season pass? The GOTY edition could come with codes for a second pass - that would be a good incentive for people to buy it and help keep the game alive for longer. I would certainly be willing to pay for a second pass if the quality of the cars was as good as the last pass. The last one had the Historic Le Mans pack - if they did a 1990's Historic Super Touring cars pack I am sure the pass could sell very well.

I hope you're right about a second season pass, the game could really use it to keep the game alive for a longer period. Same yields for future patches as they should avoid to let the game bleed out if they release a PC3. A second season pass could possibly finance those updates.

Yes, a second season pass would be a great option and should also extend the support of the game with updates, making the game better and better

A 1990 touring car package with cars as the famous Renault laguna would be a great addition to the game for sure! A good Toca remember

The last pack with le mans classic is also my favorite for now, great track and a really good selection of cars

It's funny how the "season pass" mentality has affected all of us.

Don't get me wrong, I have PC2 + season pass and I have AC + season pass + remaining DLCs that weren't included in the season pass.

BUT, recently GTS re-opened my eyes that we don't need to do that to get good content, or we shouldn't do that at all actually. But we've been spoiled and manipulated to think otherwise.

For my PS4 I paid:
-35$ for AC+SP when it was on sale. I then paid 9+9 for the latest 2 DLC packs. That's 53$ in total.
-60$ for base PC2 + 25$ for its SP. That's 85$ in total.
-28$ for GTS when it was on sale.

GTS has got like maybe 10 updates since launch?! Got tons of bugs fixed; added like maybe 5 new real tracks and other virtual tracks? added TONS of new cars, lots of single player content, ALL FOR FREE.
==> I know, some would argue that the game was pretty weak on content and that those should have been in the game in the first place, but that's not totally also true. They could have charged for some tracks or cars at least, but they didn't.
==> And some would argue that it's not a real full sim (but who is actually entitled to verify that?!), but it still has the BEST online multiplayer racing and the BEST automatic matchmaking system, the best scapes and livery editor (if not the only livery editor), great single player content in my opinion (driving lessons anyday over racing against AI), and the BEST graphics. It has lots of stuff going for it.

Yes I don't play GTS as much as I play PC2 or AC, but I think it has affected me in a good way and made me rethink some of my past decisions and consider better future ones.

I think GTS is a special case - it was conceived as a subscription game, but that idea was dropped. It was released as a bare bones product with almost no content to be gradually fleshed out. Presumably the next game will release with more content, but may follow the GTS model of early release with a lot of extra content rather than the old GT model of very delayed release while content is built.
