Bit hot here to do much outside over the weekend, so had a couple of good sessions on PC2.

Main thoughts are on the AI… they are very inconsistent… on the career events, I should probably use a higher setting than 80 as I’m mostly much quicker (I was c.3s a lap faster in the LMP3), but then occasionally I have to drive the wheels off the car perfectly, just to keep up – used the Sauber in the vintage Group C championship (what a brilliant car), and only just squeaked the championship against the Nissan GTX (which is a bullet!).

Some of the invitationals have been great fun – the F40 at Watkins Glen, the grp6 Porsche 936 at old Hockenhiem and the XJR-9 at old Spa, for example. Much harder to drive than the modern stuff.

Not managed to work out rally cross yet… have won the odd event, but not really figured out how the drive them. Might have to use the pad for those as much easier to use the handbrake than with the wheel.

Got a few nights this week to finish my 2nd run to a tier 1 championship, then a 2 week break for holidays.

@Stotty You need to adjust the AI in every race, do a couple practice laps and watch your best lap time and then adjust the AI until the first places do your average time, it take a few tries but it worth it.

I have the game since it release and I have never play a rallycross race haha, first because it does not appeal to me, and second because you need a handbrake and a gear lever, I tryed to play Dirt Rally and is impossible with just a wheel, I think the same applies with rallycross.

At the moment, I'm not too bothered... I'm just enjoying driving as many different cars/tracks, and not too concerned about the competition aspect.

Once I've finished career, I'll go back to the events I enjoyed and re-run them at a competitive AI level.

.

Try a high rear brake balance, then set the brake pressure to your liking so the rears lock when you want them to instead of using the handbrake.

Regarding AI I find I only need to alter for each championship not each track.

I was running 100% rear, but still struggling to get the rear swinging. I’ll have another go as I've always liked off road stuff when I get the feel right... even GTS!

I love rallycross in pCARS2, but it does need a slightly different approach - I'm not brilliant at it, but the idea is to get as much forward weight transfer under braking as possible then turn in pretty hard. This should do two things, kill the understeer that you will otherwise get and get the rear loose. Once you've got the rear end sliding then it's power, opposite lock and a huge grin to the corner exit :D

I personally love the RX Lites most of all, such a chuckable little thing, and the old Escort RX car is fun too - no 4WD there, just rear drive goodness.

Keep a pen and paper track of how much you adjust the AI at different tracks. They translate fairly well (or at least give you a decent start point) for a lot of different car groups. I also tend to spot the AI as much as 20-30 points when doing very hilly tracks. There's something about their programming that doesn't let them brake less for uphill turns, allowing you to attack easily there. Flat tracks they are quite fast, but throw in some elevation (Algarve, Mojave, Donnington, things like that) and they need a bit of help.

Whats everybody's favorite livery from any car?

pick 3

My are

1. White/Blue #16 from the p1 gtr
2. AF Corse Team #51 from the 488 gte
3. Porsche Team #1 from the 919 hybrid

:)

👍

Another example of inconsistent speed... Was racing LMP2 at Red Bull Ring last night. On lap one, I had a c.1s lead heading to the final 2 corners... lead AI was on my bumper coming out of the final turn... they are ridiculously fast, but just on those 2 corners

Also, they are rubbish in the wet... I was 3s a lap faster in wet qualifying, but only around 1s a lap faster in dry race.

Still, they are reasonably decent compared to other games. Ignoring GTS AI (which are truly terrible), At least they don't do physics defying round the outside defensive moves half on the grass like AC AI does

Just got this game and what a waste of money, impossible to finish a lap. Tried playing it last night at 1 am too and it makes my wheel make stupid noises that wake everyone in the house there's just no need for it.

Wait maybe we can help. It can be underwhelming at first but it'll grow bit by bit on you.
What wheel? What issues exactly and where? What wheel settings and FFB are you using?! I recommend lowering Fx (road feedback) which is by default very high on this game.

EDIT: Just if this game had AC FFB and feel... Oh it would be heaven! Damn!

Ok thanks I am using g29. The game just seems unplayable like driving in a straight line is hard. I jump back into assetto corsa after 6 months and it's easy and fun. Why does project cars have to be so bad? My wheel make loud noises and starts getting really warm after 10 minutes and sounds like it's about to break which is no good when your trying to play at 1 am. Huge let down I should have played demo before wasting £20

You need to put some time into the game, once you do that, you will love it. Try get some proper settings for your wheel.:)

If only life was so easy no effort would be require 👍

There are more then enough users on this forum that play with a wheel and are more then satisfy and that can help you with your problem.

I'm on the G29 too. Try these settings in FFB:
Flavor : RAW
Gain : 90
Volume : 33
Tone : 50
Fx : 25
This should lower a bit the random heavy shake in the wheel.

I don't want it to be easy I just want it to be playable like assetto corsa. also for my wheel to not make extremely loud noises for no reason

And it can it just takes a little effort and Georgeagea posted a setup for to try and i'm sure that if you look around this forum you can find more setups for the g29.

Happy Driving :)

My setup for G29:
Favor: Raw
Gain: 75
Volumen: 40
Tone: 50
FX: 50

With that settings I can drive comfortable in straights, the little shakes in the wheel are normal, at 250 km/h or more everything affect the handling.

For Dirt Rally, I made it work by binding the handbrake to my clutch pedal and just used that. It doesn't seem to work with project cars though

Question is this cute little track really use in real life?

Just takes 12-15 seconds per lap with my gtr :)

Just jumped on the deluxe edition on sale through PSN. I hope I don't regret it like the first one haha.

FWIW, I don't play it nearly as much as I want, but that's mostly down to my huge backlog of non-racing games. I don't regret purchasing it, but if you're heading into it with any desires for photo mode stuff on consoles, well, it's not great. :P

The driving is quite good though, especially the road cars. It's exponentially better on a pad than the last game, but it's still not at GT/FM/F1 levels of approachability there. The good news is that the tweaking is much simpler.

There's so, so many good tracks in the game that on sale, I'd consider it an essential for any car fans. The time you can sink just exploring each one in a single car is staggering. That and I personally like the single player campaign; it's not as polished as other games out there, and it's lacking the "game" aspect of prize cars and that sort of stuff, but the sense of progression, of rising through the ranks in actual motorsport, is pretty cool. 👍

Pretty much all tracks have areas where the AI are strong, and other areas they have weaknesses. But so do real drivers. Most pros know each others' tendencies enough they can figure out where to attack and where to defend.

You might also try upping the rain distance, maybe see if the wet AI is going for tire longevity. I find the wet AI pretty poor, but a lot of people complained how fast they were prior to the last update. Wet skill varies so much from player to player, it really is impossible to code an AI skill that mirrors players' wet/dry speed ratio. I feel the game needs another AI slider for 'Wet Pace' so players weak and strong can dial in an equivalent pace. But the difference might boil down to tire longevity. The AI don't seem to change their pace much faced with sprints or endurance, so perhaps wet pace is tied to expecting a long distance?

That's what I dearly wanted to like about PCars 1. I'm also finding it a bit tiring in GTS doing the same routine, getting daily mileage just to win a MiTo/MX5/Golf GTI...

As for photomode, as long as I can get basic screen captures of the liveries I like then I can recreate them elsewhere.

As for the AI in the rain, my experience is and at least has been for a few patches that they are pretty slow in full wet conditions put they are much quicker in drying conditions. They seem to be much less effected by puddles and stuff. This can make racing with changing wheater conditions quite frustrating.

I was beginning to question if I'd bought the deluxe edition as none of the season pass content showed in-game. How odd I had to go an manually install it from PSN. I'd have thought a season pass would do so automatically.

Never mind, now to take my favourite racing Porsche on California Highway Full (935/78).

Edited to add; as much improved as it is on controller compared to the original on Xbox, I totally went out and bought a G29

You need to work on your setup. PC2 has a wealth of FFB settings and most G29 users have found excellent setups.

Hello all, i am trying to start a clean one make racing league. Time is for sunday 8pm EST if anyone is interested please head over to the OMNI League page. Find via the leagues thread. Thank you
