When you watch that video on a larger screen as I have on my TV, you can really see the puddles beside the pitlane wall, kerbing of the fountain and various other places. Especially when the driver avoids the outside of some parts of the circuit to get some power down and get the 1:17s he's been able to do in that monster.

Something looks wrong with the frame pacing in that Jaguar video. It really needs reuploading at a consistent 60fps because it doesn't really show the game in the best light.

I have a feeling that it might be a YouTube problem more than a video problem. Although i'm surprised it wasn't uploaded in 1440p or something like that seeing as that's what the trailer was updated in. I didn't notice it though.

It's certainly not the best quality video I've ever seen. Resolution looks low and brings about anti-aliasing issues (could just be graphical settings), and the compression makes the road look quite messy. Would like to see top quality uploads to show the game in the best light as currently possible.

Looking forward to driving both car and track though.

That's the second time group b rally cars moving to RallyCross has been mentioned in their history lessons. Could they be leading up to something?

It's definitely on the Nazi and Hitler's Rise to Power (See Godwin's Law) levels of history lesson excitement. But better. Compared to looking at the Cold War.

He clearly put in the description that the game is still work in progress and you still got people crapping on the game. Every time this dude does a comparison video and pcars is in the video there's a very good chance that the comments section is gonna be toxic. (Not blaming motogames). Anyway I hope SMS 🤬 on the competition and prove everyone wrong. Yea my expectations are low but i got a lot of faith in this company.

Just a couple of thoughts concerning DLCs, because I saw some posts about that on Racedepartment:
I am of the honest opinion that SMS DLC policy in pCARS 1 was the best way they could have gone about it and the most customer-friendly way to sell DLCs I've ever seen in any racing game.
-the prices were comparatively low, far better than, for example, Assetto Corsa's DLCs
-the packs always had some sort of theme so you - most of the time - didn't have to buy some DLC for one car/track you really wanted
And, most importantly:
-They didn't completely divide the community through their DLCs. Instead, even those who didn't have them were able to play with them online.

The insane pace they were creating new content with was, of course, also nice, but if they keep this DLC policy, I'd be completely content with having to wait 3-4 months for every DLC.

EDIT: Concerning the previous video: Gotta admit, Forza does look better. If he'd told me this was a real life/Project CARS-comparison, I'd have believed that as well. But the car looks just much more exciting to drive in PC2, and what they've created with Live Track 3.0 seems simply so far beyond what Forza manages to do that it isn't even funny.
Just, if you're some idiot in the YT-comments section that heard somewhere how edgy you are if you bash pCARS, you simply don't care about things like that.

I also like Forza's look, but this is comparing them at different times of day and weather. I think at the same conditions the two would looks closer. I think technically pCARS graphics are great, just need to tweak the parameters for the light sources or adjust the color palette to nail that realistic look. Not sure exactly how to do but I'm pretty sure it's possible.

Yeah, in my experience the issue was very likely the variable framerate, which really doesn't play well with Youtube's conversion. Essentially if your video isn't locked to 60 FPS, it's better to record in fixed 30 for quality, otherwise the video will appear choppy.

The Jag they that will be revealed tommorow could also be the 1993 XJS V12. Chances are slim but lets see! :D
Chances are slim but they reference a V12 and the XJ220 was originally meant to have a V12 yet had a Twin Turbo V6.

Having a look at the Jaguar V12 Wikipedia page, I saw 1 car from 1993 by Jaguar themselves. The Jaguar XJ-12. More specifically, the Jaguar XJ-12 (XJ81). Having a look at the car itself, I cannot for the life of me think why it should be added because the car itself looks to have no motorsport heritage. Realistically, I can see it being some sort of XJ220. All arrows point to it.

XJR-15?

Would be interesting.

Gran Turismo had a race car version of the XJR-15.

There are several technical issues with the video. As 'official media' it's a shame it wasn't checked privately (after uploading) before general release because this is how Joe Public will perceive the game until a better video comes along. Hopefully SMS can just seamlessly replace this one with a 'better' version.

Apart from the technical issues the content could also have been a lot more interesting. Maybe multiple driving views shown and a replay lap? Maybe some variable cloud cover, sunlight, ToD? You know, actually overtly show some LiveTrack 3 features in a less subtle way?

As a promotional piece I think this video falls short in quite a few areas. Like it or not, SMS have a lot of work to do to convince all the people that feel 'burnt' by the first game to look seriously at pCARS 2, so the marketing task is just that little bit harder this time around. I'm not one of those people but the internet is sadly full of them. The reveal video from a few months ago was fantastic and created a really positive buzz. This one seems to have had the opposite effect.

I agree completely. I think it would be a good idea for SMS to upload via Vimeo in addition to YouTube. They can preserve a much better bitrate at their desired resolution. Although it's not as popular of a platform, they could easily provide a link in the YouTube description - for those who want to see a higher fidelity video.

Personally, I find the track too dark at times on Pcars2 and therefore less beautiful than Forza. For the rest, Pcars 2 looks better.

I guess I'm in the minority for this one, but I think the pCars 2 look a lot better than Forza 6. The Forza one looks like there's a matte finish on every single texture and looks less alive. The track surface looks more like an actual street in pCars 2 as well. As street tracks are not flawless asphalt like permanent tracks.

Considering this was an official video would have thought they would make sure it looks pretty knowing how much that sells these days (in fact since the beginning of games). So they show a very grey looking day against a street circuit, that looks like its on medium settings & low resolution. I've yet to see a video of the game with the lighting looking realistic, screenshots yes but no real game play. It not deal breaker & still better than the rest of the sims on pc.

EDIT looks like they pulled it. not surprised to be honest.

Was looking for some news and came across this. Patrick Long is a Porsche Factory Driver and SMS did said that they are aproaching the manufacturers for access to the factory drivers so connecting the dots, I could be onto something.

I think I saw something about Pat Long yesterday regarding something similar to this. Might have been these. Can't remember.

He's in a Cadillac but I think that's just a car they're using to film the Porsche in front.

Pat's following them on Twitter. But so is Lucas Di Grassi, TCR International (More on that later), Rebellion (WEC), Daniel Abt and probably a few others.
