Given how things have unfolded so far, another launch like PCARS2 could very well end it all for PCARS or SMS.

"A rushed game is forever bad, but a delayed game might get pitstops back." -- Shigearu Miyamotor :P :)

pCARS 1 released with tons of bugs, many eventually fixed, many not. Earned the series the nickname "Project BUGS."

pCARS 2 announced, endlessly ridiculed by salty gamers that it would be a bug-filled mess. Released on a time schedule to beat other games to market, was by many regards a bug-filled mess that wasn't ready, salty gamers crowed about we told you so and attacked the game in online discussions whenever possible. Many bugs eventually fixed, many not, support cut as soon as final DLC dropped. Announced game direction changed to produce a "spiritual successor to SHIFT." Fans tried to believe that wouldn't affect its hardcore sim-ness.

pCARS 3 announced, quickly gets the biggest shock out of the way to show that it has gone in a different direction and it's not simply the same game style with needed improvements, a substantial portion of existing fanbase joins the ranks of salty gamers attacking the game in online discussions whenever possible. One might think they should probably do everything they can to make sure the game is not a bug-filled mess this time. Will they? Have they already? We shall see.

But pitstops ain't coming back.

The marketing has been absolutely horrendous... you'd think they'd start to take things seriously with 44 days left but NOPE. This is looking like a disaster of a game atm. :indiff:

@Tool1312 because other games have them you'll be complaining about PC3 having cars and tracks next. :mischievous: ;)

While female avatars might not be something completely new to racing games it is a welcome addition in what is often a male oriented genre. And should be seen as such.

They can go further and add Female teams liveries for sim ladies for a complete immersion. Everyone's favorite team should be presented:). Oh, I forgot this game not about Motorsport anymore...

F&F Crossroads is launching in 23 days it barely had any marketing stuff so far. Weird.

What happens with that game is not my concern.

pCARS 3 is and if sms couldn't market two games launching so close maybe they should had rethought there schedule.

Cause the little hype pcars 3 had is pretty much dead right now.

Wait.. even THAT game has barely any promotion?

What SMS has been doing lately is suspicious and insanely worrying honestly

I'm not surprised that the FnF game has less promotion, movie tie-ins usually don't have big promotion but pCARS 3 being quiet all the sudden is a bit odd, it is a month from launch and we still don't know much about the game. While Dirt 5 that is releasing in October have a lot more info and gameplay footage released for that game now.

DiRT 5 marketing team are doing an awesome job imo.

Let’s just hope it is the calm before the storm. I’m hoping for a new trailer and/or new gameplay footage this friday or next week.

Agreed.

I like that Dirt 5 team made it clear that this time is more arcadey entry and there will be more realistic Dirt Rally games in the future. That makes fans of both arcade and sims calm and everybody will get game they want.

In PCars 3 situation. We don't know anything actually.

I wholeheartedly agree with this and wish to subscribe to your newsletter etc.

There's nothing wrong, at all, with doing an arcade version of PC. But don't pretend, and try selling it to us, as being something it's obviously not.

Had SMS come out and said, "Listen guys, you'll get a PCars:Revolution before we move on with the core franchise", that would've been it - everything would be clear and SMS would've avoided the ****storms they get every time they open their mouth on Twitter or Farceberk.

They really should have stick with the pCARS Revolution name and keep the numbered as the core franchise, it will definitely reduce or stop the rage around it.

Codemaster did a good job with Dirt 5 marketing and they also spent a lot of time to tell the community that the Dirt franchise will be split in 2 going forward. There was a letter to community weeks before Dirt 5 announcement then they made a playlist of videos with its dev explaining the differences and direction of the franchise is going.

I’m assuming there was a marketing study that showed that main numbered games sell much better than spinoffs so they decided to go that route, or that they may be copying the Dirt/Dirt Rally model where the more sim focused titles will have a subtitle and the arcadey ones will stick to numbers.

Either way, we’ll see whether it backfires on them or not

The whole thing seem to have back fired at this point, existing fan base is not happy with it and whoever the potential new market for it probably don't even know about the game yet. With about 1 month from launch, silence from the dev and lack of any info, I do feel a bit like the game is send out to die.

They got rid of some sim. aspects(not happy)but the basic game is still there. It won't affect the way 99% of people that play the game. I'm sure SMS they can see what people are doing as they play.
