100% agree. I didnt care much about some DLC cars so far, but that contraption is the first thing that I m really not looking forward to and which is a no buy for me so far. And tbh, even if the "coming soon" tab in the main menu is a drift mode, I wont spend a dime on that crap. I hate drifting, was so happy it isnt in pcars. :ouch:

Absolutely!

As cool as that MX-5 is, I don't really see the point in adding drift cars to a game with no drifting. It won't fall into any racing categories, so it'll only be useful for stuffing about basically, considering there's no dedicated drift mode.

It'd be like adding dragsters when there's no drag strips, or rally cars when there's no off road tracks.

I look at it like this regarding the drift MX5/Miata.

Every track can be driven and drifted with the game as it is. For me the only good part of drifting is the actual fun of doing it, not the "scoring" of it. The competitive element of it doesn't appeal to me at all. As an artform it's up there with ballet and ice dance. Capturing the drift competition element isn't that important to me. However driving (and hopefully me being able to drift) will be a fun casual thing to do and learn by simply following a master drifter in the ocassional drift lobby.

We may also be able to race it with a tune. Multiple liveries would help with this (if Red Bull allow it)

As much as I don't care at all about that MX-5 (a shame, really, since I wanted a normal one or a cup-spec one) I think they'll probably plan on using it on the test track. I don't remember too much about the test track in beta, but I'm pretty sure it has some drift-able sections and a drag-strip section (or at least a straight). I also won't be purchasing the MX-5 if it's stand alone, or a drift DLC.

I do think the MX-5 is silly, but maybe SMS is grasping at straws for content they can get their hands on? I'll laugh if that drift car (and any other drift cars) become the "Customer requested...". There was never much support for any kind of drifting stuff on the beta forums, so they're just making that up if that's the case.

Either way, always anxious for more tracks and cars.

As long as drifting and ovals are seperate DLC, I would not mind. Don't want them in "my" game... so no need to buy/download them...

You'll end up buying them though, because the oval pack will include several road-course versions with the ovals. The 24 hours of Daytona, the Indianapolis road circuit (to be fair that's a crap track anyway) etc. I'll pick them up for the alternate racing versions - but not the ovals themselves.

:D
Well....no...pretty sure that I won't since I think of them both as being "crap tracks". Already hated driving them in GT...

Spot on. That the 2016 MX-5 Cup Car is Top 3 in my "Do want!" list only adds insult to injury. And I absolutely afree about the "customer requested" statement. SMS had some very questionable PR statements before but if that was written with the Driftastic MX-5 in mind, I will first laugh hard and then (virtually, verbally) slap the responsible person hard.

I hate ovals, doesn't mean that I am unhappy that is coming. Don't like it, don't use it.

If they can simulate Formula Drift event properly, I don't see why anyone would be unhappy, it adds diversity.

Are you talking about the October pack? The MX5 won't be ready in a month if what they showed is really all they've done.

I'd personally love to have an MX5 in the game! I'm thinking of getting one as a first car, so it would be cool to be able to compare the two cars driving styles and also test the car out on a similar rather than going to the dealer :D

Would be a brilliant car for a nice drive on the Azure Coast as well, as long as it's not like dressed up as a race/drift car.

I'm being tormented...SMS PLEASE release the DLC!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :embarrassed: :scared:

I think it's safe to say I'm more excited for this DLC than I have ever been for any game lol. :D :dopey:

Having had a mark 3 all I can suggest is buy one. As a first, second or third car you're unlikely to regret it. If you can afford to keep it if/when you get a larger car then do so. I regret not still having mine. It's a pleasure to drive anywhere and especially so in the middle of winter with the top down and the heater/face vents on full blast.

Yeah it's meant to be a pure driver's car as well! It's great to see another previous owner give it so much praise! However, the smallest engine you can get is a 1.6 litre which would make the insurance for it really expensive. And I'd hopefully keep my first car no matter what it is :D

I can imagine the scene, people with gloves, hats and scarfs and here's mister Scoonsbeard in his t shirt with the top down :D

Yeah I'm aware some people like to stuff around for a break from racing competitively, but we already have a good selection of road cars that are more than capable of drifting, and can also do other things. Hell, if you wear the tyres down to the carcass, even the best handling race cars will drift beautifully. I wore my slicks down to the carcass in a Formula A race at Dubai, and the last few corners before the pits it was stepping out with ease, and as I had a massive lead, I may have encouraged it to do so lol. It drifted gracefully for an open wheeler! My point was if there's no competitive drift mode, this MX-5 will be pretty pointless for anything other than stuffing around, which seems like the opposite of what the rest of the game is about.

I'm not against SMS adding pointless toys like this, it's a cool car, despite it being next to useless in this type of game, and as you say, people will use it online to mess about with, but why do it now? Why not focus on the DLC that will actually add to the game, like the Indycar DLC and Historic DLC. Why take manpower away from those to make toys like this that don't fit at all with the rest of the game?

I'll say again, I'm not against them doing things like this, but I just wish they'd do it after they'd done the more relevant stuff.

Well, they will probably wait for the Xbox One's patch to be out before, so it could still be in a couple of weeks. :D

PS4 got the patch before PC this time. One of the Devs said they approved it so quickly it took them by surprise. I'm guessing they put them to Sony and Microsoft for approval, and planned to release it on PC in the morning, and Sony must have checked it right away and approved it. Sony's getting pretty good at this now. They used to take forever!

Spare a thought for us Aussies, it's the middle of the day here, so the patch notes will probably be posted right after I go to bed (knowing my luck lol).

I'm just going to wait 'till it finishes downloading (just turned my ps4 on to let it update before I go out to do stuff), and I'll check the patch notes in the PS4 update history! :D

Thanks for posting that mate, looks like someone beat me to it.

...Oh, and HOLY 🤬 That is a massive list of fixes! This patch is on a similar scale to 3.0! Lots of really nice notes in there. Some much appreciated bug fixes, and lots of tweaks to things to make them better. I'm impressed with the rate the fixes are coming. They have been very busy at SMS!
