Pass on that one, I'm only poor so I have one monitor

Unfortunately, I don't have the room, or the other half, to allow a triple screen setup, so it's something I haven't looked into.

3 monitors are better for immersion, but some graphical compromises have to be done to run the game smoothly at 5760x1080... so it will always be prettier on a single monitor.

Not sure if it's been discussed before but how's the sound?? compared to GT5 let's say...

That's an easy one, there's no comparison, pCARS is miles ahead. Then again, it isn't hard to best the sounds of GT5.

They're still way off being finished yet though. I just hope they don't end up sounding like RaceRoom, it sounds so harsh and unpolished. The Lotus Type 72 is just

Vid comparing Caterham 7's on the same real life track. Looks pretty damn good, even the AI.

Nice vid 👍

also this sounded nice:

Formula B - Added a "not really raceable" demo tire that has wear turned on, but highly exaggerated. It is mostly a proof of concept tire to demonstrate flat spotting. I have no special flat spotting code. Flat spotting "just happens" in the model if you lock up and burn off some rubber. But this particular tire is crazy soft in wear (normal in grip though). You'll wear through the whole tread in a lap or two. But this too is a demonstration of the nature of behavior change as the tread wears. Other things beside flat spots just fall out. Optimum slip angle changes, heat absorption capability changes, etc.

:dopey:

I heard that the devs are thinking of cancelling the current console versions, please tell me that is not true. It would be suicide just to release for next gen consoles when they have a bigger install base on current consoles.

Where did you hear this?

Seeing as this is not going away...

Wouldn't they have to pay peoples money back?

I you want your money back, you can ask for it. However the plan is still to give investors the 70% share of revenue from the PC and WiiU versions, as well as 35% of the revenue of the PS4 and XBone versions. They are also thinking about dropping the DX9 version of the game.

So they will still be on console, just PS4/Xbone instead?

It should be pointed out also that this is so far discussion only.

If it comes to it, there will be a vote from financial members on how to proceed, as there is with every major choice in pCARS. SMS gets a vote too, because they have a lot of money of their own in it, but the community members are easily able to outvote them if they feel it's the right decision.

Personally, I think focussing on next-gen is the right move for the franchise. It sucks for customers who have current-gen consoles, but looking at the timing of the next-gen release and GT6 I think pCARS will get absolutely rolled on current gen.

Pushing to next-gen they may not sell as many straight away, but being one of a few launch or near-launch games gives them a chance to establish the brand early in a marketplace that isn't nearly as crowded. It gives them the chance to hit a home run and be a breakout success, which is never realistically going to happen releasing on an old console six+ months after it's gone obsolete.

Still, we'll see how it all turns out in the end.

I think PS4/Xbone is the way to go and I'm glad to hear it. I will be getting a PS4 on launch so its good news to me. I was actually a bit disappointed when I heard it was only for ps3/360.

Will the PS4/Xbone be released later than PC/WiiU or is the development timeframe still the same from when it was originally intended for PS3?

It's been posted on neogaf so yeah it's truth.
Damn, I was hoping it to be false. Anyway, it would really suck if SMS and the community decided to drop the current-gen versions of the game, at least from a personal point of view since I won't be buying a next-gen console right away. Though, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they do. With the approximate release date postponed until Q2 2014 in mind, a current-gen release is making less and less sense.

I didn't think current gen would happen anyway, for one the game could never look this amazing on them and secondly porting to Cell and Xbox's Power PC chips is much harder than the new x86 architecture consoles.
