I do agree it's just business, good business for TM, but I'm just not sure it's good business for Sony. I don't see how getting a few shekels from TM for an exclusivity deal (which we are just guessing at anyway) makes it a good deal for Sony when they risk alienating a part of the customer base by doing so. It's just anecdotal evidence but we've already seen many people here on GTP making the switch from console to PC. There is a tipping point and I don't think it's very high. Assuming the average gamer buys the console and maybe 10 games over it's life, that's about $1000 per customer. If they got $5Million from TM which I would consider outrageously high given the limited market for high end peripherals in the console market, they only need to lose 5000 customers who switch to PC to make it a bad deal for Sony.

IMO Sony would have been better off opening up wheel compatibility to all wheel makers, to encourage people to buy the console and later on the games.
without the acknowledgment of the numbers we can't really judge, we should have a look to thurstmaster balance sheet... but hey i prefer to play on sunday.

My guess would be that Thrustmaster paid what was necessary for their range to be compatible or it uses something Immersion patented that didn't break the licensing rules? Didn't the T100 only come out in the last year or so?

so if i understand everything: t100 will be a compatible force feedback wheel with project cars? on every websites i saw only PS3 compatible???!!!!
and what about converter for my DFGT logitech, like M4 or Cronus, it s very difficult to get real informations !

The T100 will supposedly work like the T500 in PCars. It will not work in the PS4 menu. It will work in game except for no Share button support. You will need to use the DS4 for that (not a big problem)

i tried the t100 before buying the t300, it's totally crap. do not waste your money. Really.
I was a DFGT user too, T100 is nowhere near the DFGT.

I didn't have the possibility to try cronus or m4 but i read very bad review almost everywhere. Lot of lag, lack of adjustements, lack of force feedback. But i'm not fully informed in this case.

Again as an old DFGT user i advice you to avoid t100, i would feel bad for you.

How bad is the T100? How bad is the turning radius?
Its my only option as the T300 is insanely expensive in South Africa. Double the price of the PS4. I currently use a DFGT on my PS3.
From your post, I think I'll be better off using the DS4. Should I just wait for the T300 stock to become more available and purchase then?

Definitely wait. Surely prices will drop from those prices. Just to put it into perspective the price in South Africa is the equivalent of £546 for a T300RS. Even allowing for the distance and risks of importing securely it's more than double the price in the UK. I'd forgotten how you get stitched up over there for electronics and entertainment stuff. I remember going into a music and film retailer in South Africa about 8 years ago and being amazed at the price of CDs and DVDs. 8 times the price of the same thing in the UK. £80 for a new film DVD. That was in a country where a decent wage was much lower than an average one here. Good luck.

What is the price of building a PC in SA? The DFGT will work on the PC for sure. the T100 is only 270 degrees, it'll be great for drifting but for circuit racing not so much. Plus it's cheap and junky.

Too bad...I guess I won't be getting project cars. Without Logitech g25 support, it's not worth it. Gran Turismo had always been king anyhow.
You won't have G25 support for GT7 either, it's a Sony thing, not a Project Cars thing. In which case, why wouldn't you get the ground breaking, first ever, full on, console sim racer in history, at least a full year before GT7 releases?

As far as I know, there is only one official supplier of TM and they don't have any in stock as yet. The pricing I got is from a third party importer and they clearly state that they are not liable to honor the warranty. The Thrustmaster TX (XBONE) which is the equivalent of the T300Rs retails for R4000 which is a fair price. I suppose its best just to wait a bit for the wheel to become available.

The cost of a decent PC build would be a little more than the cost of a PS4. I have considered it, but I'm not one for PC gaming. I like the plug and play that consoles offer. I have the PS4 already and Pre ordered Project Cars. Guess it will be DS4 until the price of the T300Rs drops.

Not at all. Comparable performance roll at about twice the price for now. From 600 to 800$ (barring OS price, and peripherals). I did lots of PC building planning for PCars.

Using the minimum of $600, it equates to roughly R6600. Selling price of PS4 in South Africa – R6299.00

PC parts are not that expensive here. However when it comes to consoles and peripherals, its double the price of Europe/America.

You South Africans should go out and protest against this consumer rape ;)

We don't know that for sure yet, best not to jump the gun.
Would be nice if they get a bloody move on there @ PD's and 7 is released this year still, just so we finally know for sure.

If it turns out there will be support it's just 300 bucks for a PS4 and we are in heaven again. Yet i doubt it because this rumor came of a neogaf user that 'bumped into Kaz', and even if this would be true it would still come out of the mouth of Kaz and he isn't a credible source neither.

I don't expect PD to give us much hope just yet. Look at how long GT5 took.... I know that the PS3 was more difficult for them to develop the game on than the PS4, but still, PD have a track record of taking their time. I actually hope that they do take their time with GT7, there were many mistakes made with GT6 and a repeat of them would probably turn more customers away.... On the flip side, if PD applied some pressure on Sony for the Logitech compatability, perhaps they are more likely to buckle. Or maybe Kaz will just see another opportunity to make some money and form yet another deal with Thrustmaster.

Project Cars have got to get it right first time, they might not get a 2nd chance like PD, so PCars needs to be as bug free as possible and as complete as possible on launch date.

I have a confession to make. I'm trying to spec up a cheap PC build right now as a possible solution to my problem. My old PC (clicky) is rather poor now compared to today's tech and it can barely cope with the simple games, it's also really slow at booting up. I could probably speed it up a bit, but it's out of date now and I'd probably be wasting my time.

I'm trying to get a PC for under £600 with an operating system and its not as easy as I thought. I'm not going to be able to get the best parts (obviously), but I hope that I can at least get something which will be decent and could potentially handle PCars at a semi-decent setting. This is what I have so far: CLICKY I admit that I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to PC's, so if anyone reading this knows a thing or two please let me know what you think, or PM me. :)

I just want GT7 released so i have conclusion about the wheel farce. My interest in the series is almost non existant after the amateurism of recent years.

Yeah i doubt it will be bug free at launch, as we are a bit more than a month away and they are still working on finishing it, so not much time left for testing the whole game.

Check out the pre build pc's @Saidur_Ali proposed:

They are under 600 pounds and have all you need regarding hardware specs.

Kind of irrelevant in the total context of my post. He said, "Gran Turismo is King" and he's not getting PCars because it doesn't have G25 support yet so it's not worth it. Sounds like he's resigned to playing GT7 with a DS4, so my point is, why would you not get PCars and also play with a DS4, especially since GT7 is 1-2 years away?

He said "had been king". His statement is totally on point. ;)

I m afraid a lot of people will think similarily about the wheel issue and punish SMS for Sony/Logitechs/Thrustmasters shenannigans by not buying pcars. Kinda sad, but I m not blaming anyone with this state of mind. Those compability politics are really BS from all parties involved.

5 will get you ten he meant to say "Gran Turismo has always been king anyway":sly:

Well I bit the bullet and bought the t300 wheel ($500.00 Aus), however I also bought the adapter (Rimotech $24.90 Aus) so that I could use the G25 pedals. Plugged it all in last night and boom works a treat all pedals work, so I have saved a few extra dollars on the 3 pedal upgrade for the t300. I will get the shifter addition but for now the paddle shift is fine.
The wheel though, wow, great feed back and very smoothe, I will miss the feel of the G25 leather wheel vs the rubber cheap feel of the t300 but the difference in feedback is massive.
I'm dissapointed that it would seem Thrustmaster is money grabbing with the 3 pedal setup and shifter being extra's when the logitech guys had it all up front, have kept the old wheel and shifter anyway just in case but for now happy and ready for project cars to arrive.

You can always buy an adapter for the Thrustmaster from DSD so that you can use any aftermarket wheel with Momo bolt patern.

What shifter do you have? Leo Bodnar sells a shifter adapter for the G25 shifter that turns it into a standalone device. PC only of course.

Ok cool, I was looking at the G25 wheel last night and thought that it looked like it could bolt straight on bar the buttons through the wheel.
