A 6/10 by Shacknews.
'All of my previous video-game driving experience went out the window as I needed to rely on real-world driving mechanics to succeed in Project Cars. Instead of keeping the gas pushed down for the majority of the race, I needed to ease off of it a lot more as I finessed my car through the twists and turns of each track. I also needed to make sure I didn’t accelerate too far into a turn or else I would find myself sliding off of the track.
Because of that, I feel Project Cars won’t receive the mass appeal games like Forza Horizon 2 or Driveclub have received. Instead, only those who are really into realistic driving simulators may flock towards Project Cars, although they might get bored easily considering there really aren’t any unique game modes either.'

This review misses the point of a simulation-racer. An issue with reviewing some games is that there may be nobody who likes the genre/or is experienced with similar games within the company, evidently this is the case here.

It's the battle of the hardcores vs the casuals, I suppose. For a casual gamer it might not be more than a 6/10, because they are more interested in entertainment than in realism. But it's also unfair to rate it from that perspective, because that's clearly not the target audience.

Still... GTA5 PC has a 9.6 ....
Well, it's not a racing game and it's a well established and popular series. I don't think racing games will ever reach the very top, even if they were 100% perfect, since they're not as popular with the general public as action/adventure games. There are already the usual half-scale scores by reviewers who don't like or understand racing games, which are meaningless, but still counted.

For the PC score, sim elitism/aversion will probably drag the average down a couple of notches, but I'm prepared for that (compensation factor 2.5%) :P The console scores are more open...

I think Pcars 2 will be the one that will get into the 90s...it will be more refined, polished etc.

This one is amazing but rough around the edges....a rough diamond as it were. Its happened with other racing game series in the past if you look back.

I was pleasantly surprised to read IGN's review. Although, there is no review score yet the impression I got from the reviewers single player experience was he really really liked it. Nice to see that many of the reviewers are able to see what kind of game SMS and the WMD guys were trying to make, a game that focuses on the motorsport aspect of racing. I'm getting more and more excited to get my hands on PCARS. Roll on to Tuesday!

Czech eurogamer http://www.eurogamer.cz/articles/recenze-project-cars , golden badge (which is the best) "Not perfect, but at the top of the contemporary racing games"
Career is highly praised as the best ever seen as well as the racing feeeling, car count being a large minus. Absence of pit mechanics and more realistic track marshals is also indicated as disadvantege, although it´s mentioned that it´s likely to improve in the future. Overall a nice review.

I agree and think the number of people who will appreciate it as a car sim will be outweighed by people looking for another need for speed game with nitrous and exhaust tips and changeable items :)
Ignore. Theyre idiots who thinks theyre totally radical and totally not cool playing this sim crap.

Lets list them all:
Daily Star, etc

This makes me feel better about P cars, shows you need to be a keen racing gamer to appreciate it :) of which this guy obviously is not.

After seeing the first reviews come in, it's fair to say we have a great game on our hands!! A first to have a Racing sim on consoles!! As i said 3 weeks ago, this is a very significant day in the world of video games.....This is a game changer! Can't wait til tomorrow!! :D

The Telegraph review was very well written. Here are my favourite bits;

There's little point in building suspense: is Project Cars as good as, or better, than Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport? Put simply: yes, it's at least their equal.

Rules have been broken and long-held game design beliefs laid to waste. Frankly, like Vettel sitting in a Ferrari, it's about time this happened.

Mercifully, this is a game with the courage to do away entirely with the idea of 'levelling up' and earning cash to acquire new cars. These systems, relied upon by Gran Turismo and Forza, have always been lazily implemented ideas stolen from the RPG genre. Such systems have never felt right in a racing game and they've never made for a genuinely satisfying progression path.

What kind of race driver judges themselves by looking at an 'XP bar' and ogling over the size of their personal car collection? None.

...it's incredibly refreshing to play a game of this ilk that treats its players as adults by allowing you to dictate the pace and direction of your progression.

Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport have just gained a new podium partner.

Project CARS for P1!
