Project CARS Reviews!

'All of my previous video-game driving experience went out the window as I needed to rely on real-world driving mechanics to succeed in Project Cars. Instead of keeping the gas pushed down for the majority of the race, I needed to ease off of it a lot more as I finessed my car through the twists and turns of each track. I also needed to make sure I didn’t accelerate too far into a turn or else I would find myself sliding off of the track.
Because of that, I feel Project Cars won’t receive the mass appeal games like Forza Horizon 2 or Driveclub have received. Instead, only those who are really into realistic driving simulators may flock towards Project Cars, although they might get bored easily considering there really aren’t any unique game modes either.'

This review misses the point of a simulation-racer. An issue with reviewing some games is that there may be nobody who likes the genre/or is experienced with similar games within the company, evidently this is the case here.

Valid point though, Project CARS does want to appeal to a large audience and unfortunately this world is full of ignorant, patience-less gamers.

It is reviewing really well.I read the Eurogamer review and he really liked the sp campaign. It is making the wait harder lol.I am really interested in the digital foundry article I want to see the performance of the ps4 version with the latest patches applied.

Also as-true-to-real-as-possible sims are much more niche than arcade-centric titles, so of course there's probably going to be less mass-market appeal.

It's actually amazing that he makes this sound like a negative...What an appalling paragraph that is.

His kinds of games...?

Although even in Outrun you had to slow down for certain corners or else you'd accelerate off of track.

Tbf Horizon 2 is incredible its easy to see why loads of people would prefer it to PCars.

Reviews are looking good, Eurogamers preview brought a huge smile to my face :)
I don't think FH2 is even comparable to PCars

although this does have me slightly disappointed:

"There's also the fact that the excellent career mode, in its fierce focus on contemporary motorsport, ignores half the game's modest car list - the road cars and historic racers - and a even a good portion of its more lavish track list."

does this include the invitationals? I'd hoped that the entire career would have you driving all tracks at least, if not all cars.

From Gamespot: "Unfortunately, I’ve also hit a number of incredibly frustrating bugs throughout my play time. I’ve had dominating first place wins taken away from me as, suddenly and without warning, Project CARS becomes convinced that I’m in last, not first place. On the other end of the spectrum, I’ve had races in which the passive AI seems eager to lose, giving me a massive 10+ second lead on second place. And more than once, it’s been unclear if my wins have been correctly recorded by the career mode: I’ve come in first place across each section of a three-part event only to see the post-race headline read that I came in second. Hopefully I won’t run into more of these annoyances as I continue to play, because they can really ruin a good time."

I hope this is not the case...he does not say what version he is playing, but it sounds like broken...funny no one else has picked on this?

Here is a Review from a spanish site called "3DJuegos," it says the review it's still in progress, but they've already posted they general impressions, here is a translation:

What we liked:

. The sensations behind the wheel, we're talking of a very polished simulation.
. The graphics are breath taking, a visually extraordinary game.
. The car and track count it's not huge, but it will keep you busy for a while.

What we didn't liked:

.
The Carreer Mode it's not as deep as other games of the genre.
. It's serious and brutal approach makes a wheel a must have... and not everyone can afford it.
. Even tough the driving it's top notch, the game still have some serious bugs.

What version did they play? This problem has been adressed about a month ago

I found a nice one: http://www.jeuxactu.com/test-project-cars-sur-ps4-et-xbox-one-98475.htm

Yes, it's in French. :)

Some good comment among many others:

D’ailleurs, on retrouve cette ADN simu/course en étudiant le roster de véhicules qui compte pour l’instant 65 caisses. Là, j’entends déjà les aficionados de la série de Kazunori Yamauchi qui se plaignent d’un manque de véhicules. Mais comme dans Assetto Corsa, chaque véhicule est très fidèlement modélisé avec une physique et un bruitage moteur propre. Pas question de coller le même son de sèche-cheveux sur toutes les voitures, suivez mon regard...

Which translates:

By the way, you can find this simulation DNA by studying the car roster which includes 65 cars for now. Yes, I already hear the Kazunori Yamauchi fanbois complaining about the lack of cars. But as in AC, each car is meticulously modelled with proper physics and engine sounds. Reusing the same hair dryer sound on all cars is not an option; follow my eyes...

Last of the 4 complaints: "Impossible to start a practice session with pre-heated tyres." :)
