This may have been answered in previous pages, but if I may...

Are there any plans in the future, updates or maybe pCars 2, to add more laser scanned tracks?

I can completely understand why only the UK tracks have been laser scanned so far, but I'm hoping that the future may bring more...

I've heard nothing official but i believe SMS would prefer to use laser scanning for future additions to the series. It all depends always on funding, availability and man power.

iRacing for example has a laser scanned "tech track" version of Long Beach, which will probably never be finished because it takes too much resources from them to do it. Then there is also the problem of keeping a track up to date wich results in iRacing having a Silverstone version from....6 years ago :-)

So yeah, if SMS makes money on PCars and the community is not crying for 20 new tracks every year, they will certainly look into it.

As much as I would like to have all laser tracks, if I have to make a choice, I'd rather a reasonable facsimile than nothing at all. With the flood of onboard videos in recent years and GPS tracking data available from track days and such, not to mention Google Earth, it's not nearly as difficult as it used to be to create a really good version of a track without laser scanning. If careful attention is paid, I would hazard to guess most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference quite frankly, other than those that go over tracks with a fine tooth comb.

More accuracy is always nice, but racing sims still don't account for all variables to replicate a lap of the real thing with true authenticity, so I don't see anything wrong with a reasonably accurate hand-crafted track that includes the right reference points. No matter what you do, it'll always be fudged a bit from the real thing.

Such a shame they dont have Suzuka.

edit: nevermind that post...after watching a video it's basically is Suzuka

I'm not sure, but the video may have been from a pre-production version of the game...I'm not sure if the real Suzuka (and I mean not the fictional one that we've been seeing recently) will appear though.

It's being distributed by Bandai Namco, which is a Japanese company known for Ridge Racer and Pac-Man, so why did they leave out the Japanese? Maybe the Japanese should have a bit more significant presence since Project Cars is being distributed by a Japanese company! (It's being through the European side of Bandai Namco however, although I would like to see the REAL Suzuka, as well as its sister track Motegi, and even Fuji and other Japanese circuits, and maybe add Pac-Man and other images from Bandai Namco's IP such as Digimon... To the owners of Suzuka, please give them rights for the real Suzuka to be back in Project CARS!!! :D)

The licensing negotiations for this track have not been successful for whatever reason, therefore they had to change the track layout. It is not the same, but most people actually really like the more flowing design of the "Sakitto" fantasy track.

It's a real shame, because Suzuka is one of my all time favourite tracks.
I'll have to go look at Sakitto...

I do understand why, and I may have partially heard about that earlier. But I have to wonder what the licensing terms were that led to decline...

I'm still looking forward to "Sakitto" though. Maybe I'll like it as well! The track layout...there has got to be at least four!

Namco had the rights to the original MotoGP games in the early days of PS2, I believe Suzuka was in the first 2 installments of that game,

It's a shame the hairpin isn't there, but the rest of it looks fantastic, especially from this view above.

It's a really fun track to drive. Lots of evaluation change at key points and there's still recognisable areas of suzuka with in the track.
