How long have you been waiting to get that off your chest ?Don't hat(t)e Mr Latte. As usual I'm following your project with admiration (jealousy) and interest. 👍

Hi guys, thanks for the kind words. I take some pleasure in knowing some are enjoying this "project" or can relate to it.
Nice to see other members have similar passion.
Well perhaps we do these things because of the inner child still within us? I feel part of my reasons in doing this are not just for the interest in racing games but partly also as ecapasim from daily life/stress/worries. Ive always been a techy type into AV technology and have a creative mindset.
ilonioum, by all means any help I can offer I will, so go ahead with any questions you want.
Ive been to your lovely country and seen the famous wall of Nicosia. Had friends once that were stationed at the top of the Troodus Mountain many years ago. Now thats a winding and scary road trip!
If enough people ask I will consider doing a detailed beginners guide on tactile and the different models/brands I have tested.
Please to anyone reading this if interested just send me a PM if youd like to see such done.
New Hardware / Visuals
The cockpit may not be going far in building but the hardware is collecting rightly.
Having triple screens is nice but most of my playing is likely to be on consoles, so that limits me to 1x 24" screen on 95% of games. Thats what sucks with triple monitor setups on consoles. You get a great experience for those (err few games that support it) and only a small screen experience for the rest.
However this being "Project R" thats just not going to be good enough![]()
I mentioned in this thread a few times and on the forums of a new 3D affordable projector due to be released.
Optoma announced their newest "Game Time" projector based on their popular GT720 model waay back in June at E3, their latest model being the GT750. This has increased specs with a really high Lumens making it ideal for living rooms and not just "bat caves". Not much has been released about it since.
Ive really been tempted and took the plunge today ordering one of the first available units in the UK. With seeing so many great looking FM4 images. Besides I recently sold my Panasonic 720P AX 100 projector awaiting this one.
Being a short throw projector it is ideal for "Move/Kinect" as the projector can be in front of the player not behind casting shadows. An example, is obtaining a 100" screen from only a 5FT or approx 60" distance so perfect for small living rooms.
DLP technology is very good for not being effected as bad with the dredded "3d Crosstalk". Something Sonys very own LCD/LED HDTVs suffer from quite badly. Plasma from Panasonic/Samsung havnt faired so bad with 3D it seems. So I will be testing GT5 on this with a 100"+ 3D screen to see how that experience compares to the triple displays.
What makes this projector also appealing is that it will handle HDMI 1.4 3D with no adapters or converters. Lastly it also supports Nvidia 3D vision or can be operated in 2D for super smooth 120FPS gaming.
How much, well I got the Projector and DLP Glasses/Reciever for £610 delivered. Thats amazing value and even better considering my old projector sold for £250.![]()
Do but kickers actually work on PS3? or are you planning on using them for PC only?
They work with anything that produces audio.
Im not for using PC, well not in the short term future.
When its done your only a cheap flight away from me ya know.
Being a Mclaren fan your welcome.
PM me on where your from.
ilonioum,
www.partsexpress.com is one place to get the kickers from.
They dispatch very quickly, using FedEx.
You will get hit for the charges, but there is nothing much one can do about that, unless a Chinese supplier could be found.
Sorry I assumed youd of seen links to "Parts Express" as ive linked them several times in the past.
I did mate, you are right. I have contacted Clark Synthetics though and now I'm their International DistributorI have an online shop and do some distribution.
Good news.
Does that allow you though to sell the T209 model which I think is a special for "Parts Express". The T209 is approx 1/2 the price of the "Silver" but has maybe 2/3rd the performance which is more than adequete for cockpits.
Silver, Gold, Platinium all seem to have better specs but they are the same size which maybe limits to a degree the benefits on instalations for single seats or chairs. Large sofas or platforms may benefit more from those models covering a wider area with a more pronounced tactile performance. However at prices that do become quite expensive id think the market for them is more limited.
Keep us informed...
I know some guys say that even the Platnium doesnt have the strongest low end compared to a similar priced Buttkicker. Then again I think the Clarke Tactile would appeal more to the music enthausiast or home cinema fan that doesnt mind paying that bit more.
The Clarkes do have a much wider frequency response than Buttkicker, yet strangely IIRC the frequency response is the same for the T209 model as it is for say the Platnium. For me the problem with that is you could buy a T209 and like I did match it with audible subwoofers to probably get a better allround effect at a similar pricepoint and also benefiting with the audible BASS improving as well as the tactile response. Alternatively buying a Buttkicker for LFE duties as it has better low end performance. I didnt end up with different models/brands by chance you see but by their own abilities with my own testing and experiences with my own installation configuration. I guess personal preference was a lot to do with it also.
You could always consider Crowson Tactile.
How about these for a mere $926
Honestly the Aura Pro is great for its price althought the Clarke T209 comes with great mounting options included and it is the only Clarke Model I believe that can also be installed vertically. Something to take note of.
Will try to take the bka300 to the shop to try it on the SONY AMP. I'm not sure if their will be much difference compared to its own amp. For 300 watts it doesn't feel like that so maybe they use rather generous power ratings.
You could fit 2x mini LFE under your knees for L/R and use the Clarkes as surrounds like ive done.
