I tested your tune today. Test track was Grand Valley Speedway.
First, the tune is very fast, proverbial. I was shocked as I saw how much faster it is on the straight than my tune.
Because of that, I tested your transmission on my tune and was much faster than before. Great transmission! (or was the oil change the reason?)

Anyway, Adrenaline, do you remember that you called my tune "difficult to drive"? If my tune is difficult, then is yours from hell!
I miss any feedback from the car. A good time with this tune is like art on ice. You've to be very very careful, but not because it would oversteer.

It was strange. While I was driving, I wasn't sure if it's the right car. It did not feel like a Yellowbird.
The good message is that if you can manage a clean lap, you're faster than with the other tunes. My setup was around 3 tenths slower.
But the problem is the constancy. With my tune, I can easily drive 10 laps in a row with just a difference of 0.5s. With yours.... ehhmmm....well....it's extremely difficult. The average time is much slower.
It seems that you made a great tune for qualifying, but not for the race. (Sorry about that, just my opinion)

Of course, it could be that it just doesn't suit my driving style.
The speed is great, it should be just a bit easier to drive.
(I wanted to test it on an other track, but unluckily my brake pedal got broken.:()

That was part of my worry. That I've just gotten so comfortable with the car over this last week, that any tune feels rather easy to drive now, compared to when I first started testing it. That's why I wanted to get some feedback on those changes before going too much further. I had a feeling I was just getting too use to the car. Appreciate the input. Once RJ gets off his 🤬 and updates the tune to the next level, maybe we can present the most recent developments and see how those work out. Looking forward to hearing from a few others.

1 question for you slump. Was that 3 tenths difference before or after the transmission swap?

After the transmission swap. I did a new record with my tune, but was still to slow. (3 tenths are almost nothing)
I'm sure that I could do a better time with both, but my pedal got broken.:(

Out of curiosity, what was the lap time difference with your tune's 'as written' transmission settings?
What were your lap times for both?

3 tenths too! I'm not sure, cause my ps3 is off. I think it was a 1:49,097 and 1:48,8XX.

:lol:I thought you've no ps3? Or do you mean a "phone" test?

He's using me as his personal computer, to analyze data for him.
He PM's me 10 things to try, I try them and send him the results, then he sends me another few things based on the results I gave.

How is your PS3 coming anyways RJ? Can you watch replays at least? I could upload a ghost or 2 and then you could watch what I was experiencing, if that helps?

I can't even get GT5 to run.

I can play MW2 all I damn well want to but the newer games are scrooged. May see about a cleaning disc or something for all the good it'll do. May even try cracking it open and cleaning it the oldschool way but that scares me a bit too.

Any feedback on settings, Not coming from the tuners?

Remember the goal is a YB that the average Joe can jump in and have fun with, I know my set up hit the nail already, have the others come around?

Just got through reading some of this thread...funny stuff. I find it really funny that if you make a post asking a question that was asked once, 4 months ago, that you can find with an hour or two of using the search engine it gets closed with an often quite snotty retort, but yet they let this kind of flame war go on...lol..

Oh and just so I can stay with the topic at hand, once the system comes back online I'll give a couple of tunes a spin and see how they do online. That's where I do all my racing.

Bad grammar and duplicate threads are priority number 1.

On topic, I'm interested in others opinions on the various set ups posted, it's up to the people.

Hey, guys what's wrong? Why has this thread fallen in boredom?
Great news! I updatet my tune.
Dr_Slump's car ambulance presents: the new Yellowbird tune!
(Adrenaline, look at the lap time:sly:)

Give it a go, please. Let me know what you think.

I've been testing these tunes in a casually serious manner, but when I come back in to post my thoughts, either someone has already mentioned what I think, or a tune has been modified.

This is typically why I prefer for a tune to be "finalized" to some extent before I dig into the review.

:grumpy:My updatet tune will stay at min. 2-3 days!

Just because your opinion is the same, doesn't mean it isn't valuable to us. Hearing 1 person say 'I feel this' means it could be a number of things, but if 2 people experience the same thing, then you have a better idea, that there's an issue that needs to be addressed. So please, we're all ears for your input.

Also, this isn't a place for 'finalized' tunes, it's a 'project' that needs input along the way, to ensure the car is staying controllable while it gains speed. Some people are satisfied with simply control, some of us hold higher standards and want control and speed, because that's what matters in racing. If you're just looking for a tune that will get you around the track, noobster's tune is great for that. My goal is to design a tune that I can use as a sleeper at the track online. I want to show up to a race, and have people laugh at me because I'm in a Yellow Bird, then go on to win the race as their jaws drop.

Be honest, how many of you would laugh (Even if to yourself) if you saw a Yellow Bird lined up next to your Enzo or Viper at Trial Mountain? And how amazed would you be, if the Yellow Bird just drove away?

You can make any car easy to drive if you make it slow enough.
Even the Veyron handles great at 30mph. :sly:

the new Yellowbird tune!

A challenge I shall rise to. :)

Well slump, I tried it out. It's fairly tail happy for me.
It was quick, and that freeness can really help on Grand Valley, but on some other tracks, I think it may be an issue. Another possible improvement, is your initial torque is a little low in my opinion. Usually when I raise that up, I get better drive off the corners. Maybe try that and see how it feels for you.

I could run low 49's with your tune, but I can't touch your 48.4xx

Hmm,
Grand Valley=faster
Suzuka=faster
Monza=faster
Tsukuba=faster

Maybe I should try more?
I agree that the car is a bit tail happy. You have to be careful, the car doesn't like it when you're rude to her. I like the tune, but it could be that my driving style is just a little bit unusual. (really?)
LSD higher? Yeah, could be better. Don't know.
I'll test other LSD settings. Thanks!
And hopefully I can run a 1:47.XXX:drool:

Hmm, it's so quiet here.....

I tested a couple adjustments today and the final tune is just impressive!
The setup is much more constant and extremely easy to drive. I could run 5 1:48.XXX laps in a row on GVS.

I think this Yellowbird tune is finished. The only reason for me to change something, would be a negative review. Maybe I'll change the transmission sometime, but not in the near future.
Heres the tune: Yellowbird Tune

Have fun!

This is all correct... but I need to have time to test the 4 major tunes in here as well as the stock car in order to give something that isn't just drivel.

I can tell you all one thing... I'd wager that most if not all of the latest tweaking improving your times is coming more from you getting used to driving the car than from the tuning. I'm aware that this is the Yellowbird, but the way you're all talking about your tunes and the handling, you make it seem like it's a lancer evo... it's in all regards still very much a yellowbird. So just keep that in mind...

After some preliminary testing...

1. Dr. Slump appears to have simply created a more powerful yellowbird. For me, despite the heavy modifications, this car drives and handles exactly like the stock yellowbird only more powerful and therefore obviously faster. His tune is faster than adrenalines for me on my list, but I can say that adrenalines is easily faster if I could muster consistent laps with it. Again... I'll say that most of the time savings with this car is associated with you learning how to drive the car rather than tuning... not a knock... just a thought.

2. Adrenalines tune is easily capable of being faster than slumps. However, it does have a tendency to understeer slightly unless you apply the grotesque power (for the record I used all of the "middle" settings (no ballast, and the recommended LSD). That said... the car is faster though at the moment slumps is faster on my list... which leads me to my point.

Neither of these cars are really a car that can just be picked up, maxed out, tuned, and driven by anyone. I consider myself a good driver, and at the moment, on a DS3, both of these cars sit at 1:19:050, and 1:19:396 respectively at deep forest. FAR off of adrenalines claimed 1:11? I believe... I'm not saying that either of these cars aren't CAPABLE of that time, I'm saying that the tune may have just as much to do with the time reduction as the modifications, and the learning of the car. My stock times were in the 1:28's cold... without trying. The car is faster, but I'm not going to spend 2 weeks reviewing a car that's going to change.

So by adding 300+ hp, and using these tunes, I've taken 9 seconds off a lap both cold/without trying very hard. And there is another 9 or so seconds being claimed to be saved. A gap that large simply says one thing... learning this car is as good as 300+ hp.

I'll edit in a bit with the actual goal of this project (noobsters).

Thank you!👍
Of course, the Yellowbird will never drive like a NSX or something similar. I completely understand when other drivers have problems with this car. When Adrenaline and I drive the Yellowbird, it feels relatively easy for us.:D

You say that my tune feels like stock. What? I think I should test it with a DS3 too. Oh, yeah, DS3 is 🤬(sorry). Adrenaline and I tuned the YB with wheels and believe me, it's much more effective (not easier, just different) to drive a car like the YB (especially without aids). But 8 sec? I'll test it with my pad.
I have 1 question: Did you use my final tune I postet yesterday or was it an older version?

Its your final tune. I'm fairly certain that I can get the car to go much faster... I typically have no issues matching peoples "wheel times" with my DS3, or at least getting close enough to be respectable. The thing you should take note of here is that I ran maybe 5 laps with each tune after running 5 with it as stock. Yours feeling stock isn't "bad" per se, its just an observation. I feel confident that I can get the times down at least 2-3 seconds rather easily, but more than that and I'll be "learning how to drive the car". Learning it isn't bad... if it were "my car" but in a video game... people expect to get a car and it to be tricky to drive, modify it, tune it, and it should be much better to drive. While your tune (dr slump) is certainly faster than stock, and its certainly better than if all of that horsepower had just been added, I wouldn't say it's better AND faster. I think MUCH of the time you both have picked up is related to learning the car...

I might suggest putting it down (after saving a very fast ghost replay for the car) and trying to drive a vastly different car, or a bunch of different cars for a couple weeks and then come back to your yellowbird and see if you still like your tunes?

Noobster... TRUST me, I haven't forgotten your tune, I'm in the middle of fixing my real car, which is a total POS son of a GUN right now so I'm a bit strapped for time... Rest assured though, all of these tunes will get some feedback that is much deserved.

Kool :) I'm relaxing, no rush, just Been a beautiful day. It's days like this I wish could go on and on, no PS3 till well after the sun is at rest. Time 4 BB-Qing :)

MONSTAR-1
I might have a go at this car and these tunes. Trial mountain in the YB?

Not recommended, the up and down no DF it's just a nightmare. I guess it could be fun to pull it off, I know Adrenalin likes it there.

I like the track but I'm not sure it's a wise track to test a car. Most cars have some trouble around there.

Have a go at my CT230R settings and tell me what you think.

I don't mean to spam this thread with this post.

Trial isn't DF.

And according to Adrenaline we've got a mostly-kinda drivable setup at Trial... Mid 1:23s if I'm not mistaken.

-20 / -15
6.6 / 13.9
9 / 7
8 / 5
2 / 1

+0.15 / +0.25

17/19/8

Transmission (In order of needed adjustment)
Top Speed: 155mph/249kph
Final: 2.500 (This is my 'base' final, for shorter tracks adjust it higher, for example at Deep Forest you'll barely get into 6th)
1st: 2.893
2nd: 2.065
3rd: 1.655
4th: 1.360
5th: 1.140
