Project Scorpio Becomes Xbox One X, Releases November 7 at $499XBOne

And Microsoft's response would be "more powerful, half the size, free backwards compatibility for all generations of Xbox, 4k disc player, etc"

If price is the only thing that matters, why the hell would you buy the PS4 Pro for nearly twice the price of a PS4 Slim with so little difference in performance?

The xbox one started off quite rocky. Forcinig the Kinect early on because they believed so much in this product when it was very used and horribly implemented. Not only that, but doing so because they believed that Xbox 360 owners were definitely going to get the Xbox one, not realising that Sony plain and simply offered a much better product.

But now they are better than before, but the price point is still too high, $399 would have been much better. The "S" model is $199, why pay 2.5 times more than the "S" for something that's not even 2.5 times more powerful. It's about 45% more powerful. It makes getting the "S" a much better deal honestly. I hope Microsoft changes their mind. I really do like the "X". But its just too highly priced.

It's also more than about power.

Liquid cooling (super expensive/complicated, AFAIK, only see it on pre-builds over $2k) and a 4k UHD blu ray player ($300 solo) for example.

There's also some other stuff (Atmos and some weird USB thing I think?) that the PS4 PRO doesn't have.

Yeah if the Pound goes down the drain it could end up being £1000  £449 is a bit of a joke though tbh.

The price for the specifications is not bad, remember the original playstation and playstation 2 prices?
UK £ here.
Everything is dead cheap nowadays.

I've seen a big chunk of Microsoft's presentation. CGI intros looked breathtaking but when I saw the actual gameplay I wasn't that impressed. It seems a powerfull console but it didn't really show at their presentation. The gap with the currentgen is simply to small to blow me away.

Disc based backwards compatibility with 360 games and now original Xbox!... and a UHD player, everything Sony didn't do with the Pro.
Sony will probably do all that and more with PS5......or do something new ...who knows eh;):gtpflag:

$499 is £392... but knowing rip off Britian it will be something like £450.
True Dat

This sounds like the "jam tomorrow" approach that's left PS4 owners with no Gran Turismo game to play for three years while in the same time period there have been two Forza Motorsports and two Forza Horizons on Xbox One.

Surely it's about what you want to play now, not what hasn't even been announced yet?

Ironic considering a PC with same specs would cost you more than twice the cost of the console.

Its a bare minimum, mind you.
that's not true though

Scorpio is £450 and has basically an RX 580 graphics card (£250) and an underpowered mobile jaguar CPU, which is not even on par with a i5 7400 (£160), with everything else added together the PC it will cost more, but nowhere near twice as much, but you get way more benefits with the open platform than microsofts locked down mid range PC box...like

free online

cheaper games

PC exclusives (thousands of them) including the best PC sims like iRacing, automobilista and RaceRoom

insane backwards compatibility

emulation to play all your favourite console games from the past at even higher resolution

all peripheral support, they don't lock you out of using your old steering wheel like the dicks at MS do.

and support for higher framerates, 60fps is just the beginning, 144HZ+ is where it's at

If it is £450 it's the bargain of the decade, a graphics card to match it alone is around £320 at best (GTX1070)
You're talking absolute rubbish, it's on par with an RX 580, which is £250. 1070 destroys it. Where do you guys get your info from?

Same here. PC is a huge hassle. I'm so glad it isn't the only thing I have. I like it for what I use it for, but I feel really bad for the people who only have PC and have no idea what they're missing on console in terms of exclusives. Especially PS4 exclusives. They'll probably get PCSX4 someday though.
I feel really bad for the people who miss out on PC exclusives too, especially racing sim fans.

Not arguing with your other points, but an equivalent PC is still quite a bit more expensive (in terms of the initial price, that is). The One X is also a 4K Blu-ray player, so it also has that going for it.

Yea PC is always more expensive on the offset but you make a lot of it back with cheaper games and free online. That Windows 10 though is unnecessary, you can get OEM keys on ebay for like a fiver

$500 is too expensive, $400 is reasonable price.

Making time for Gaming is too expensive. Having time is reasonable price.

the cost of consoles and games themselves, are mere insignificant constants.

I don't think this will be useful for who doesn't have a 4k tv. I'll keep my One S

With the One X, users benefit from:

  • Faster loading times
  • Longer draw distances
  • Less pop-in
  • Smoother framerates
  • Virtually no instances of games with dynamic resolution scaling down
  • As a result of the last two points, far less aliasing and better quality textures.
Plus there are games which feature changes to the game engine which enhance visual performance (labeled Enhanced), even at 1080p. Pretty much anyone with a HD TV will see a benefit.

From what I've been hearing from gamers in my circle is that they were hoping it would be $399, that indeed seemed to be the sweet spot as someone said above. To put it bluntly, they will be bummed about the price and probably put off a purchase until it comes down. For my part, I was expecting $499.99 but hoping they would be at $449.99 max. I love that all of the accessories are backwards compatible, that will go a long way to save some money in the initial purchase. I need to get a 4k TV first so I will have to wait on this until some time next year.

He's in this section just to bait. See his last 2 posts in the FM7 section.

It's all about the games....we'll see how it does. Switch is $100 less - be interested to see their presentation tomorrow. I've never been on the bandwagon of more power equals better system. Just ask Sega Dreamcast

You'd be really tired after that...

Best. Console. Ever.
Yeah, it sounded like I was saying it was a bad system - but that's not what I meant. I meant as far as sales, etc go - it was a failure. I've never played it, but it looked awesome

It was a great console. Just a real shame it didn't work out.

Yeah it is too bad. I miss Sega. Deep down I want MS to fail, which is at the heart of my comment to be honest (although FM4 is still one of the best games all time). But- I hope for Xbox fans it's good. I still don't have a current gen console, but I will be getting a PS4 instead of Xbox almost for sure, this hasn't convinced me otherwise

Why do you want MS to fail?
