Prologue frame rate issue.

This one is rather strange.

In time trial mode 'arcade mode' the footage is really jumpy. For example, driving past the grand stand and pit straight at Fuji, you can see the screen jumping as you drive past.

The issue is, when I jump online to race or race against other cars in the game, the problem disappears and I return to the beautiful 60fps footage.

I'm not a technical man by anymeans, but surely having less cars on the road means less strain on the ps3 components.

Strange...

Any help guys?

EDIT: going through the bug thread, it talks of the jerkiness, however, i'm getting this issue in every car at every track.

This bug only seems to present itself if you are using a Standard Definition CRT TV with your PS3 connected using an AV or RGB cable, I have the same issue. You will find that it affects Time Trial & Free Run modes (including replays) but not race or drift modes.

There is no way around it other than to buy a HD TV and a HDMI lead.

:ouch:

I don't know about that VBR, I just bought a new tv, 240 mhz, and I have the same issues. It looks like the same issues you get when your video card starts getting hot in a pc. Maybe time to clean the dust out.

If that were the case, then online would be having the same issue. Its a software, not a hardware fault.

But how would less cars help if you're in time trial with only your own partially rendered car?

I noticed frame rate problems appeared in TT mode when we had the last update in 2008.

Only other thing is I've recorded some replays in SD and there's a consistent stop start motion to the feed.

The issue came with the Spec III update. A shame PD didn't patch it.

It makes all timed modes basically unplayable on European editions of GT5P running in SD resolution.

PS3 outputs PAL-SD resolutions in 50Hz and PD messed up their code as it seems.

wow, I just noticed this today, and I said to myself that's not logical, it can't be!, apparently I was right then, only time trials and I'm on a SDTV.

very noticeable in replays only for me.

Are you sure this happens on all SDTV's, not just the old 50hz TV's?
I know I have this problem too, but my TV is 12 year old.

A few PS2 games allowed you to chose between 50hz and 60hz, as sort of a start screen.
At 60hz the screen went blank. But if I remember correctly, friends of mine could play at 60hz on newer SDTV's without any problem.

I have SD CRT and have the problem. It was annoying at first...for quite a while and then I sort of...got over it.

Even though i have switched over to HD now i never noticed any bad frame rate during time trials on an SD tv, mine were all smooth.

I have only experience framerate issues when playing online with 16 cars on the track, and it usually happens when most of the cars are by each other.

It's more than the usual framerate and tearing issues of GT5P. It's jerky all the time, like a bad 60->50Hz conversion.

It only affects "PAL"-PS3s. There would be an easy solution: allow forcing the output of 480i60 on PAL machines, but Sony left out a 60Hz switch.

GT5P isn't the only game with a broken 50Hz mode.

Well it would be safe to say this has angered me "just a bit".

I had problems downloading spec 3 to start with, kept failing, ended up getting it to work after many repeated efforts and changing some of the games network settings.

And now ofcourse I get this. Its not unplayable but its pretty bad like a punch in the eye. If I wanted these kinds of infuriating problems all the time id play pc games.

To confirm yes I am also a pal user running in SD. As Drivatar says, it only appears to effect the time trail type events.

I've been noticing some frame rate issues on my American PS3 running on an HDTV. Usually when I approach a corner that's crowded with other cars. When I record a replay it can have a few jerks in it here and there as well, but that problem doesn't seem to happen if I just watch the replay immediately after a race, but only if I save it and then watch it later.
