I don't think so, the first mission you get dropped off from the VTOL and the Americans charge the Chimera. What more do you want?

How would Sony make your TV display 1080p, Pako?

Sorry for the long delayed response. They could fix it with a technology upgrade coupon to put towards a new TV for upgrading to newer technology, that's how.

Not a great way to make money, but it works for me. I've already been looking into some of the different 1080p sets already. ;)

I think the only reason people are making a big deal about 1080p is because Sony is hyping it up. It's one thing to ditch your old tube TV for a 1080p TV. It's another thing to buy a 1080p TV when you already have a great HDTV.

Hell, if you want 1080p so bad, you can just get a Dell 2407WFP for $700 with a DVI - HDMI converter.

So there is such a thing as a HDMI to DVI converter then? because I want to use my 19" LCD PC monitor with the PS3 whilst I save up for a Bravia but want to have it in 1080p and DVI connection..... can all LCD monitors do that resolution? Sorry I really have no clue!

Only monitors that are natively capable of 1920x1080 or higher can do 1080p. Like, this or that.

HDMI to DVI cables are quite common. Get them online for the best deals, but Radio Shack has them for $40 if you need them quick. Remember that a $10 cable has the same quality as a $90 cable, it's a digital connection not analog, don't get ripped.

Does your monitor support HDCP? The PS3 has HDCP enabled even for games.

Most is true about what has been said about HDMI cables, $10 HDMI cable should suit most everyone just fine. No, electronics cannot degrade the digital picture/audio signal, but that doesn't mean it's free from electrical interference.

The HDMI signal, although digital and cannot be molested, has an electronic signal that carries the digital information. This electronic signal can be interrupted by electrical interference, and if so, will cause the HDMI signal to lower or reduce. Even if there are interferences, your signal can still get through. But, if it doesn't make it through, you wont have a picture image at all. With HDMI, you either get the image to the HDTV, or you don't get it there at all. There are times when it could fluctuate off and on, when the signal gets lowered, then returns to normal. This is cause my fluctuating interference, and has been known to happen, but is so very, very rare. In fact, all interferences are very rare, therefor, you shouldn't really worry about it.

Length can also interfere with the electronic signal. The longer the cable the more inductance it has, and this will reduce the signal strength. But, it needs to be really, really long for this to happen. The electronic signal is strong enough to last 17.5 feet before inductance even takes away a small percentage of it, and would need to be 150 feet before the signal even gets too low to view.

But, what's most important with HDMI cables, is where are they placed. Are they laid across the carpet far from the HDTV set, like mine? Then, a strong, thick and long cable is necessary so it will deliver a constant signal and not fall apart from "foot traffic" since it's laying in a high "foot traffic" area.

It all depends on what you need. A 6 foot HDMI cable for $9.95 is all what most people need, so go with it.

If what I'm reading about 1080i vs. 1080p, the difference is quite substantial. 30 frames per second vs. 60 frames per second at 1920x1080 resolution when fast motion video sources are used can have quite an impact on your gaming pleasure. :)

You can buy whatever you want, but unless your TV is one of those 480p/1080i piece of crap CRTs, and it's just about broken, I'd think twice on dropping the cash for a new TV.

Hey, my TV is not a peice of crap. Ha. It is fat though.

Those 1080p sets do look nice, though.

Well, it looks like yours can do 720p... which mine can't (and that means no Resistance in HD). Not to mention the screen looks funny, almost cropped, and if you see straight lines on it, they're "wavey".

Ah well. It looks like I'll bring my 360 downstairs and use the PS3 with my LCD (since every 360 game can do 1080i).

When's the price drop for the PS3? I'm guessing it'll be when the Blu-ray's price will drop, but PSM said it might drop near the end of this year.

No one knows when a price drop will occur except Sony.

And there's no way in hell a price drop will occur in a week. Unless when you said "this year", you meant 2007.

I'd expect a price drop to come right along with a block buster title. Either MGS4 or DMC4.

The next one I'd expect to hit with GT5.

Then no one knows after that.

That's my estimate at least.

Also, if you need a small TV, it's probably not worth it to wait for a 20 inch 1080 display.

My 26" 720p looks absolutely beautiful.

edit: Damn, all that blur is from my camera, not the tube. I need to remember to press the "still" button before taking pictures.

My estimate is whenever Microsoft decides that people have stopped buying the 360 fast enough (should have been in May of this year) and drop the price, Sony will follow suit.

I wouldn't replace that TV anytime soon. It may be small, but it's probably the best picture on the market: best color, best black level, excellent grayscale tracking.... Sony really knew what they were doing when they made CRT TV's, and this was the pinnacle of that technology. Actually, any new LCD is going to look totally washed out in comparison. Just about all rear-projection TVs (SXRD/LCos, LCD, and D-ILA) are going to look smudgy and a bit washed out, too. Only really good plasmas (Fuji and Pioneer) are going to even have a chance of looking as good, but the expense simply isn't worth it.

If money is burning a hole in your pocket, get a decent surround-sound system instead (as long as it's not a pre-packaged kit...and as long as it's not Bose). Hearing PGR2/GT4/GTA:VC in DTS/DD/D-whatever is going to improve the gaming experience much more than a slight TV upgrade (or, in your case, a downgrade).

One of the only LCD's, which has the black level then any Plasma on the market and better pictures then plasma’s, is the Sony W2000 series of Bravia's. Even the Sony W2000 series of Bravia is better then any CRT HD TV, but CRT HD is not true HD, since HD was designed mainly for LCD's and Plasma's.

Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection hit the JPN store today for the price of $17 USD.

Awesome for me, if it comes to the US soon, because I'm a big Tekken fan, and having it on the HDD is a big plus!! No load times!!

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Ghost Trading is included like the PSP version. The file is 830MB, and contains all of the characters from the PSP / Arcade version, plus Jinpachi is also playable.

Gallery mode is also included so you can buy older videos / endings etc with "Tekken Money".

Woot for the PSN! If titles like this, Lemmings, and soon GripShift, as well as Calling all Cars continue to make appearances, I see this as being a HUGE success...now if only they could get more bandwidth!!

So is this like something you earn by doing well in the game? It is basically like a regular unlockable but using a fake money system because it is online? That has a neat aspect to it.

Looking at this it made me think of the original plan for GT: HD with buying cars online and such. If I purchased them with my in-game credits then I would think that it is a cool idea for GT5. A lot of people would buy into this a lot easier than paying real money. It would also be a way to focus on using the storage space on the discs for physics algortithms and whatnot.

Uh, no. You add real money to your PSN Master Account and then buy things.
