Driver Lists for next race.
NEW - Penalties
Can I make everyone aware there will now be penalties applied for hitting other drivers in avoidable contact if the affected driver protests. I will not be actively policing all offences by video review at the end of the race, if people do feel they have been unfairly hit and wish to bring it to my attention, then it will be looked into. The way this will work is as folows.
Some examples of driving conduct worthy of penalties:
Hitting another driver causing them to go wide
Hitting another driver causing them to go wide and not conceding the position until the driver is up to speed.
Hitting another driver causing them to go off
Hitting another driver causing them to go off and not conceding the position until the driver is up to speed.
Causing an avoidable accident
Wrecking another drivers race
General bad driving for example turning in on another driver who is legitemately performing an overtake, excessive aggression in defence or attack, leading to contact.
For the most part, it is just common sense, being considerate to other drivers around you and trying to be as aware as possible about cars being near you on track. If you think there may be a car next to you, but are not sure, assume it is there and drive accordingly to avoid contact. Quite often it is when a driver does not realise another driver is still performing the manoever that contact is made. Unless you see the car return in your mirrors, it is highly likely they are in your blind spot. Be aware, that's all.
If a driver feels they have been unfairly hit and wish to contest this, they must start a conversation with me on GTP. I will then be able to facilitate enquiry and involvement of stewards in order to determine the penalty to be applied. I have not defined penalties at this stage, as offences vary and will be looked at on a case by case basis and a fair penalty applied, being agreed between the stewards.
Ideally there will be no significant incidents worthy of reporting, but I also am realistic, but also would prefer not to be spending significant time investigating issues. If there are repeat offenders with driving conduct they may be removed from the series, i hope this will not be the case, but the option must be there.
First corner and track penalties
One thing I would like to add lastly is regarding the start and the configuration of the track for potential carnage!
Be very careful on the run up to this corner, drive 7/10ths, rather that maximum commintment, that way you will have the ability to avoid cars changing position etc. Be aware that a group of cars will NEVER be going around a bend at the ideal hot lap pace, whilst jostling for position, so trying to do this in a gaggle of cars at the start is a recipie for sure contact.
I realise positions can be made a lost on the start and want to see fair fighting, as there are the most opportunities for gain/loss at a start, but also a high risk of accident. Having a race wrecked because of another drivers bad judgement is not how any of us wish to spend our Sunday evening.
The track penalties at this circuit are excessively harsh I feel, with very tight track limits. You must be considerate of this, as it is expected if you force a driver wide off track and they pick up a penalty, wait until it is run out, as they would not have had this otherwise.
Also be aware of drivers being affected by a penaty as you approach them, if you see someone go wide and they potentially may have a penaty, assume they will be getting one and position your car to avoid hitting the rear.
Please everyone, be as careful as you can, but also racey with it, we all want to have a good race with other drivers. Let's try our best to do this accross both rooms. It is always more fun talking about close races than pointing fingers about who was at fault.
Peace and Love people
