It may not. Your progress, etc. may be tied to your account so whether you play the PS4 copy of the game so you can play with PS4 friends, etc., the progress may be there when you switch back to the PS5.

This is how BF2042 works with their cross progression system. It's all tied to your EA account and follows you whether you play the PS4 copy, the PS5 copy or even on XBox or PC. I suspect something similar will be the case with GT7 as those who buy a version of the game with the PS4 and PS5 copies will likely be switching between both depending on who they play with. .....and most will likely want their progression to follow.

If you're not happy with that another way around it is to create another account(s) tied to your main one so you can have separate progression on each. I've done this with a couple games for various reasons. My son has his own too.
Yeah sthg like this is what I’m anticipating tbh. I will prob end up sharing progress on PS4 and ps5 as I suspect most others will, BUT I just wonder if the option will be there to play the game twice from the start (without losing the PS4 data obvs) esp since we’re paying a premium for the deluxe anniv ed. Wld be nice to have the option* but I suspect the online stuff will thwart that.
Things were simpler in the gt3 and gt4 days...

The other account idea is fine as a last resort unless it’d require forking out again for another online membership...

*Especially if I’ve more or less completed the game - all career mode and collected most cars - on the PS4 before switching to ps5. Would hardly be worth switching just to continue more online racing or whatnot.

We'll obviously have to wait for more details or the games release to discover how it works but that's my guess too.

On the other point, let me clarify that I am talking about another user account on the same PS account. My son plays off of the same PS account I do but under another user name that works just like mine. I also have 2 extra user accounts myself I sometimes use in game where I don't want to screw with my main user progress like when playing with friends. .....some games I don't want to progress any faster than my friends or change my location so I will spawn back in next to them like in DayZ.

The user account appears to everyone as your main account does. ....a separate account with a separate friends list, name, etc.

I pre-ordered the PS5 standart disc edition today. Can't wait to play. I'm going to tackle the career mode first. It's been a while since I last played GT Sport, will need some time do shake the dust off before going to the online races.
No better place to shake the dust off than in a good online lobby. Your more than welcome to come race with us anytime. That goes for everyone else too. Send me a friend request to Obi-Tonobi and join our group. We race every Wed and some other random nights too.

I had no idea you can have multiple user accounts on the single ps account. Sounds like it’d allow starting again while preserving all the progress built up first time. I’ll have to find out where to do it and create a couple more.

Yes. It's like playing with an entirely different account except you have access to all the same games, etc.

IIRC, you will need a separate email account for the new one you create. ....I just use Gmail for that purpose to confirm the verification they send, etc. I think it's supposed to be easier on the PS5 but I've had to look it up a couple times on the PS4 because I had forgotten and it wasn't as straight forward. You can create a new user but it doesn't work like a separate account. ....a little confusing until you figure out how to do it right through an online tutorial.

I wish I had a link for you from one I used in the past but unfortunately, I didn't find one in my browser directories that I had saved. .....sorry.

You can't - user accounts and "PS" accounts are the same thing. Each username is attached to a specific email.

What you can do is have multiple accounts on one console, sharing a PS Plus account. So long as any one account on a given console has a PS Plus subscription (for online multiplayer) and that console is set as that account's Primary console, every other account on that console will be able to access the PS Plus benefits: online multiplayer, play any of the free games the Primary account has downloaded, etc.

You will need a new email address for every account, but that's hardly an issue; if you have a single GMail account, it's even easier as you don't even need to create new addresses...

Unless it does what the PS3 did way back when you could gift cars. 3 us 1uk and 1japan and forgot the password on a couple when system crashed.

So long as you remember the passwords yourself, that's not an issue.

I think I have 17 accounts spread across PS3, PS4, and PS5, although that does include the youngest child's account and three for GTPlanet.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Now I know it can be done I’ll find out how one way or another if I do decide I want to start afresh at some point.

Thank you, I’ll look into it and have a go at making a subsidiary user account. I have the ps plus account so it should be straightforward. Tho I’m now wondering if what you say about ‘primary console’ is going to throw a spanner in the works, as I’m thinking about this more as a hypothetical for when I get hold of a ps5, which at that point wld presumably become my new primary console for my main user account. Anyway, it’s beginning to hurt my head thinking about it now so I’ll worry about it when/if the time comes.

No problem. I just remember I ran into some issues on the PS4 trying to create the new user accounts on my main PS account (or PSN / PS+ account). I just can't recall the exact problem. I think it created the users but then didn't let me go online with them along with some other restrictions. .....but then I looked it up, found others mentioning similar problem and then followed their directions on the right way to do it.

Haven't tried it out in my PS5 yet but just doing a dry run without entering the info it seemed more straight forward than on the PS4 as I recall. ....who knows. I'm old and my memory isn't so hot anymore.

Good luck though.

So for me it says 2 things:

  • You can't upgrade the free PS4 voucher from the 25th steel edition to a PS5 version (!)
  • You can transfer the save from PS4 to PS5. If that's done automatically or has to be done manually (like Hitman III for example), I don't know.

The steel edition comes with a PS5 disc and PS4 game voucher. So you wouldn't need to upgrade the voucher unless you want the digital PS5 version. However you can pay £10 and upgrade to the digital PS5 edition if needed.

No you can't upgrade that version, that's the whole point.

I'm asking why you would need to when it comes with both.

It also states further up than the PS4 edition can be upgraded to PS5 digital edition for £10.

2 versions of GT = 2 different persons playing? Or people selling one of the versions? Its just a heads-up, if you get the voucher from someone be alert you cant upgrade that version to a PS5 version.

You can upgrade the standard version, but not the voucher.

Can you explain where you're reading this, because it doesn't appear to say that anywhere on the page.

It says:
You can upgrade PS4 standard to PS5 standard.
You can't upgrade PS4 standard to PS5 25AE
You can upgrade PS4 25AE to PS5 25AE

Also:
You can upgrade from PS4 disc to PS5 digital, but not on PS5 Digital Edition consoles as you need the PS4 disc to play it
You can upgrade from PS4 digital to PS5 digital on any PS5 console

No mention of not being able to upgrade digital PS4 to digital PS5 if it's te 25AE voucher in the box. In fact it also says that the 25AE contains a 25AE PS5 disc and a voucher for both PS4 and 25AE content. That would make the PS4 version in the box a digital PS4 25AE... which, per the earlier point, you can therefore upgrade to digital PS5 25AE.

I don't see any specific exclusion anywhere on that page that says you can't upgrade the PS4 voucher to a digital PS5 game for the £10 upgrade cost. If you can see that, can you highlight it?

I'm asking why you would need to when it comes with both.
A LOT of people are wondering about buying 25AE and then selling the PS4 code for £50.

Ah fair enough.

It'll likely be digital for me all the way. I can't see anywhere in the UK showing stock on the steel book 25AE version so I'll just go digital PS5.

I don't know if there is anything official, but I'm guessing you can. Every game that I have I was able to transfer the saves to the PS5.

As the title states, I’m curious to know what console you’ll be playing GT7 on.

In the current state of the game’s development and the availability/cost of a PlayStation 5, I’m leaning towards getting the PS4 version of the game. If the PS4 variant features similar visuals as GT Sport, I don’t really see that as much of a loss because Sport is still a very decent looking game imo. Of course dynamic weather my affect the smoothness of gameplay and visuals but we’ll have to wait and see some GT7 gameplay footage on PS4.

Besides some visuals, loading times (according to Kaz), and potentially noticeable different frame rates with dynamic weather; both console versions are the same game (according to Kaz). I‘m not sure if I’d like to spend a small fortune to purchase a PS5 to get some of these advantages.

My opinion is subject to change once we see footage on both consoles but I think I’m sticking with PS4 at launch.

Here's how I finally managed to not only get GT7 for free, but make $40-60 while getting it.

I used last year's credit card points to get $100 gift-card, which went towards 25-Year Anniversary Bundle (PS4 Code & PS5 Disc). Everything except PS4 Digital Entitlement and Bonus Content will be sold on eBay for ~$65-$75. After ebay fees and shipping I should end up with $40-$60 in profit. When I get a PS5 I will be able to update the PS4 Digital entitlement to PS5 for $10!

Win-Win situation I tells ya' !

Er no it still cost you $100 voucher.

Yes you made $40-$60 back, but that means the cost was $40-$60.

So plus the extra $10 means the game cost you a minimum of $50.

Bought the digital ps5 for this game, also the fanatec GT dd pro with load cell brake and the wrc wheel so I can use it on the xbox too :)

Sorry if this question is common knowledge, but: If I get the PS4 version, could I eventually use my save data for the PS5 version in the future?
Yes, no problem, PS4 version is compatible with PS5. Switching from PS4 to PS5 is like... It's pretty much like getting a newer, more powerful PC. You will maintain everything. Hopefully PS5 stock to sell will soon increase, because it's getting pretty ridiculous...

Got email today from PlayStation support confirming you can't upgrade the PS4 game voucher with the physical anniversary edition to the digital PS5 version.

"Thanks for your patience whilst we looked into this for you. We have reached out to the relevant team regarding this, they have confirmed that players will not be able to upgrade from PS4 to PS5 when activating the PS4 game from the voucher provided in the Steel Book Edition. They advise this information is noted on the voucher itself."

Looks like I will be getting the Gran Turismo™ 7 25th Anniversary Digital Deluxe Edition.
The above is what I received from PlayStation support as the FAQ did not mention scenario of upgrading from PS4 GT7 25th Anniversary Edition code. Can you show where it says in the FAQ you can upgrade PS4 25AE to PS5 25AE? I asked on chat and got them to get it clarified after them saying it won't be possible to upgrade hence why I will just buy the digital version. Hopefully they add the possibility to upgrade given they sell digital edition of PS5 console.

Finally, I changed my mind. GT7 will probably be a great game in a 2 or 3 months. So far, not enough new features. GT5 was bugged but so offered new things like NASCAR or WRC cars. The only new real track is Daytona?! I've just bought Elden Ring and I'll wait for GT7 (of course, I'll buy it at some point).

Wouldn't consider NASCAR or WRC cars as new features, just licensed car classes. What kind of new features would you have wanted to see?
